@mycya4me Thank you. Fortunately it’s not serious. Just trigger finger. I’ll let you know how it goes. If she comes home with 9 fingers, well it’s only the pinky. Now, if she loses a thumb, it’s time to find a malpractice lawyer.
Staying home, looking for meaningful content on meh.com.
After those 5 minutes, will probably take the dog for a walk (and then she’ll be sniffing for meaningful content…).
Same thing I do every night; look at all the stuff I promised myself that I’d do today, and try to prioritize it for tomorrow. (ADHD is a stone bitch. There are things that would probably be effective to deal with it, but I’m not allowed to have them.)
@mycya4me@tweezak I have pet windoze XP desktop (off line), W7, and W10 laptops. I have a W11 license, but it’s just too depressing to think about installing. The rest are flavors of linux.
@cfg83@tweezak Yes I have several copies of WinDOZE from win 98, ME(what a Joke) Win 7 (awesome) I might have a copy of NT, Creators for 10 & 11(which I am hearing it follows in the Tradition of ME) Somewhere in my collection I have also the O/S from IBM (which blows away WinDOZE in it day) I also have a few copies of Linux & one laptop that has it (have not used it in a few years)
BUT my main system is my MacBookPro M2 Pro w/ the Current Mac O/S.
@tweezak Well I have been a 2nd level Desktop/ Deskside & Fields support Tech (hardware) I had first hand experience with Patch tues. with the errors that InfoSec did NOT catch!
So for Home that is the Reason I mostly use Apple products (Laptop, pad, Watch, Tver, Mini speaker. many pieces older tech, MacPro tower, iMac (All in one) Mac mini.Oh BTW I always buy Open Box or referb.
Due to the Windows nightmare Home is Fruit. It works (the only thing better is Linux/ Unix)
@cfg83@mycya4me I have one HP Spectre x360 that I bought in 2016 with Win10 Pro. I ran that for a long time and eventually wiped it and put Linux Mint on it. I’ve since migrated to Debian.
Pretty much everything I need winblows for can be accomplished with Wine. The major exception is Garmin software which is annoying. I tried a dual boot but Windows wouldn’t cooperate and nuked the Linux part of my boot sector, or something like that. Whenever I booted into windows it detected the other OS and pitched a fit. I eventually gave up and went Linux only. Eff windows.
@mycya4me@tweezak Yeah, that’s just it. I had a decent career on the Windoze OS, but W11 is the last straw, so it’s the linux flavor of the day from now on.
W7 was the last good version, but I was fine with XP.
@tweezak Yep It is a flavor of Linux/ Unix, BUT still I believe that The Full versions of Linux/ Unix are a bit more secure. Plus now Apple is using their OWN silicone in the M series & they don’t to pay anyone for the use of the Chip.
I have also found some people don’t like having Linux linked to Unix.
@cfg83@tweezak I agree Win 7 was awesome, it is just time caught up with it. the security needs & MicroShaft’s desire for more $$$ what killed it!
Yes I do believe that Win ME (a real Loser), But had one thing over XP was that it had wide support for USB. Also Win 11 Must be trying to beat WinME at the Loser game!
@cfg83@tweezak I also have that issue. Since I am into HAM/ Amateur radio. Most Radio/ Software people that support Ham Radio dislike Apple, I have heard some don’t like the Software side - the Support for developers. Yep more will support Linux
@cbatte@macromeh Lucky you still have a Mom! Mine went home to be with Jesus back in July 2024, less than 30 days of her 94th birthday. It was for the best, She had Dementia, slowly stealing her memories!
@cbatte@macromeh My best advice is: Spend as much time as you can, Make New memories that you will have after they have Gone!
Even though I was my Mom’s caregiver for several years. I could NOT leave the House unless I has someone to sit with her. Yes I complained too much Home time was making me go Wacko, well that was a short trip, I am a Geeky Nerd! When she had to go into Nursing care. I tried to visit everyday, felt guilty if I did not.
Now it is Just me & my spoiled rotten cat Thor!
@mycya4me
Absolutely loved MASH. Also had a soft spot in my heart for Tour of Duty. Unfortunately they stripped out all the classic period music when they put it out on DVD…
@chienfou@Kyeh@mycya4me it’s hard to disagree about MASH. Period. Obviously I just saw cable reruns 15-20 years ago. If I were going to build a dvd/bluray library… Would be a good one when the government turns off the Internet.
I rewatched/watched to completion Elementary I think on disney plus or hulu during the pandemic/aftermath. It had one season before I moved/bought the house. Where I still need to install a real antenna for broadcast tv. Kinda forgot about it till it was on the menu. I really liked it.
Because sherlock had already been on for a few seasons and I had to figure out how to get doctor who anyway that probably clouded the air.
@PTart83 I went out for a drive this morning after taking the trash. Down some country roads I some how have not been. Saw some garage sales. Getting to be that season. Just the go west for a while. South. Back east. till you hit a road you actually know. I enjoyed it. And pretty generic country stuff.
Oh they sell egg. So do they. Huh didn’t know that business was out here. Nice. Public access site. Pretty green hills.
Oh good… road goes around a lake( I absolutely hate when you are trying to get somewhere and your 55MPH country road is suddenly not straight and 25MPH because of all the houses packed around a small lake. but it’s totally fine when you’re just looking around).
Gas is expensive but it was nice.
And obviously not everyone has a car. 8n can recommend touching grass? Lol. Some sort of green space. Need to mow the lawn.
I mowed the front yard. Wanted to do the back but then it started raining.
Ran to the store. Watched some Ashely Gavin comedy.
To preface this. Before today I had only seen her hosting “what’s news with you” with Josh Johnson. Showed up in a comedy list. Yea I like her why not it’s 10 minutes
Josh Johnson is on the daily show. He is excellent.There is political commentary in there. And his weekly free shows. If you don’t like it that’s fine.leave it
Ashley is obviously a lesbian. I’m only saying this so people who are going to be weird about it can skip it.
She apparently does crowd work at the end of her shows. And people know this. When they come to see her. Involving sexuality. So they are deliberately volunteering personal experiences. And enjoying the discourse/jokes. I found them to be delightful.
@Kyeh lol some people will. Especially if in a safe space/no one can see you. I kinda think it’s endearing that they were totally confident/enthusiastic in eachothers answers. Though. Pretty sure after 20 years never mind what it takes to leave the mormon church
ALL of their people have known. For a LONG time.
Was just the first one I saw. I think the ones I’ve seen so far are funny/kinda sweet. They are very clearly intended to be after the show for a very specific part of her audience who both want to be there and are volunteering their experiences.
Well, that was a pain. My router went down in the afternoon and I had to dick around with rewiring the ethernet directly into a laptop from my modem then porting the HDMI output to my home theater system so we could watch Elementary. But I did it!
Guess I’m headed out to pick up a new router today.
@chienfou ok. You really need to be aware of this than. FCC is up to more shady shit. I would be looking for something that supports opensource firmware like openwrt. Should you need to care about that? No. But the government is banning all routers for a reason . What reason? IDK. Probably basic corruption since that’s just what this administration is. But still
@chienfou@f00l all foreign made consumer grade routers. And there are no American made ones It’s been out in the news for a while. It feels like a small thing in the full scale government corruption environment we live in. But all the small shit adds up.
Note there is nothing about the data centers that are the actual problem. The whole thing is strange. And tech companies should not be writing laws for tech illiterate congress people to rubber stamp
@cfg83@mediocrebot It looks like chienfou is having WAY Too much fun! He is Monkeying around way too much with his broken router & the Barrel of Monkeys! Why did you NOT invite me to have FUN with you… Shame on you & the Goat of the MONTH!
Not much at night, but my wife and I spent a pleasant afternoon out. First stop was at a favorite local cafe for lunch. Then across the bridge to Washington for a quick stop to return some unused hardware to Home Depot (I recently put up a 6ft. chain link fence around my wife’s veggie garden to dissuade the deer). Then on to visit the lilac gardens (lilacgardens.com). (Gotta say - it has been several years since we last visited and sadly, the gardens are looking a bit run down.)
All-in-all a low-key but enjoyable outing.
@macromeh that sounds like a very good day. Little sad for the lilac bushes? Or were they doing ok and just the rest needed some paint lol.
My moms favorite “flower” is lilac/had a wall of bushes with mint at Grandma’s house.
Plan for next year is to see if we are allowed to put some in. I think there is some sort of HOA thing/maintenance contract thing. But it’s a bush lol. I’ll trim it if it’s a thing
Taking the day off because my wife is getting surgery.
@tweezak I’ll be praying for both of ya!
@mycya4me Thank you. Fortunately it’s not serious. Just trigger finger. I’ll let you know how it goes. If she comes home with 9 fingers, well it’s only the pinky. Now, if she loses a thumb, it’s time to find a malpractice lawyer.
@mycya4me @tweezak
How would a lawyer replace her thumb? Isn’t that is what a surgeon is for?
/showme malpractice lawyer doing a bad job of sewing thumb on victim while surgeon looks on in disgust.
Something went terribly wrong. Please try again.
@mediocrebot WTF? Are malpractice lawyers suing to not be depicted in AI spoof images?
/showme Malpractive lawyer threatening mediocrebot to not make images of malpractice lawyers.
Something went terribly wrong. Please try again.
@mediocrebot Keep it simple …
/showme malpractice lawyer
@cfg83 Here’s the image you requested for “malpractice lawyer”
If you mean Friday Nite, I will be staying home due to the Fact that Fuel is way too High! I can Zoom some stuff & I can stream a lot too!
Staying home, looking for meaningful content on meh.com.

It’s a day that ends in Y. You know what that means: another iOS update!
@tweezak HAHAHA… better than a WinDOZE update!
@mycya4me Speaking as someone with only Linux computers in my house I don’t really have a problem with M$ updates. Work, on the other hand…
@mycya4me @tweezak I have pet windoze XP desktop (off line), W7, and W10 laptops. I have a W11 license, but it’s just too depressing to think about installing. The rest are flavors of linux.

@mycya4me If memory serves, the reason Apple devices are so secure is because they are based on some flavor of BSD. So, technically Apple is UNIX.
@cfg83 @mycya4me I have one HP Spectre x360 that I bought in 2016 with Win10 Pro. I ran that for a long time and eventually wiped it and put Linux Mint on it. I’ve since migrated to Debian.

Going to the dog park. We have Happy Hour there!
@gjrupert What do the dogs drink?
@gjrupert My question is what does do the Dogs say (Yep a take off of What does the FOX say)
Also “Who Let the Dogs OUT!” hehehe
Beating my wife.
At cornhole. I feel like that is an important part of the conversation
Heading to the mountains to ride curvy roads on a motorcycle for the weekend. And stare at God’s creation.
@rustyh3
I kind of miss those days…
Driving to my parent’s house to hang out there for Mother’s Day weekend.
@cbatte
I’m sure that will be the best mother’s Day present…
@macromeh I’m busy with my mom this weekend. I will be doing that next weekend.
@cbatte @macromeh Lucky you still have a Mom! Mine went home to be with Jesus back in July 2024, less than 30 days of her 94th birthday. It was for the best, She had Dementia, slowly stealing her memories!
@macromeh @mycya4me I have both parents still and I am closing in on 60 in a few years. I am exceedingly lucky to have both of them.

@cbatte @macromeh Oh btw you are still a Young pup!
@cbatte @macromeh @mycya4me Thank you for taking care of your Mom,
.
Probably hang out in the den and watch another couple of episodes of Elementary.
@chienfou I’m so disappointed in this series - two seasons in and I’ve yet to see so much as a periodic table.
@chienfou I have been watching MASH from the beginning, I am mid way through season 8.
@mycya4me
Absolutely loved MASH. Also had a soft spot in my heart for Tour of Duty. Unfortunately they stripped out all the classic period music when they put it out on DVD…
@chienfou @mycya4me
That’s a shame!
MASH is my all time favorite.

@chienfou I am watching it on Disney Plus/ HULU. I am now mid way through season 8. just after Radar let to go Home.
@mycya4me
Someboy wanted of Access too Disney run through those again. OTOH, maybe I’ll just have my son torrent it onto his Plex
food delivery so that I have enough cash to treat my mother for mother’s day
Doesn’t anyone go out anymore?
@PTart83
Yep, just not tonight.
@PTart83
I don’t.
@PTart83 I went out for a drive this morning after taking the trash. Down some country roads I some how have not been. Saw some garage sales. Getting to be that season. Just the go west for a while. @PTart83 I went to Big Wok Mongolian twice last month. Does that count?
Playing Minecraft with the fiancé. I built a base inside a jungle temple today.
I installed an automatic drip irrigation system in my front yard for my roses and tree.
I mowed the front yard. Wanted to do the back but then it started raining.

@unksol Too funny - I just discovered both of them today on Instagram.
This is also semi similar to the crowd confessions Taylor Tomlinson was doing on her tour… Just… Way more direct
@unksol I see. People will tell strangers some wild things, I guess!
@Kyeh lol some people will. Especially if in a safe space/no one can see you. I kinda think it’s endearing that they were totally confident/enthusiastic in eachothers answers. Though. Pretty sure after 20 years never mind what it takes to leave the mormon church
