I really want to know how someone could genuinely tell if a particular wipe was flushable or not, after finding it downstream as part of a 180-pound mass of wipes.
@pakopako@PooltoyWolf Flushable is supposed to mean that it’s been tested, and with some time in water and some agitation, it breaks apart.
Some wipes that claim to be may not be.
Some flush baby wipes that are not.
Some flush disinfectant wipes that are absolutely not, and appear to have a strong mesh in them, and are hard to even tear intentionally.
@PooltoyWolf Hi! I’m a wastewater operator. Some wipes are more malleable when in a mass. You can tell because when you pull them off of things, they easily come with little torque. With heftier wipes, it takes a good bit of pulling or scissors to break them free. The “flushable” wipes have a consistency of very rotten meat that falls apart when you touch it. Unfortunately, agitation through most plants is not enough to break them apart. A vast majority are screened and put into dumpsters, so it is mostly a problem when our screens fail and we have to bypass as we don’t have an equalization tank and the sewage never just stops flowing.
@pakopako@PooltoyWolf My past experience with these things showed that they aren’t really flush-able in a septic system, either. The outflow pipe got clogged with them, causing a backflow of raw sewage into the basement. Fun times!
@PooltoyWolf I feel like we have to first define what it means to be flushed? You can try to flush anything technically. Does it have to go down? Does it have to leave the building to be considered flushed?
I think the movie referenced is the Kevin Spacey coming of age documentary. His middle finger always smelled after he met a new twink in Hollywood. I get it Meh!
The problem with these is that they are impossible to remove from the packaging. They are wet paper towels in a plastic bag. but you can’t get them out of the bag!
Possibly the first Meh purchase I’m unhappy with. How do you clean any part of your body with wipes this small and thin. Waste of money. Super disappointed.
@user57048857 yeah, similar feelings here. I can use them in the car to clean my hands! Or I can use one in combo with another subpar wipe in the bathroom.

@PooltoyWolf “Flushable” just means it goes down the hole, not that it’s septic tank safe (disintegrates quickly) or so?

@PooltoyWolf I would never trust any “wipe” as being flushable. Not worth taking the chance.

@PooltoyWolf I believe that the record for flushable-wipe-reinforced fatbergs was set in London at something over 100 tonnes. BBC took note.

These are going to the gym with me (and into the trash after use).

Most of my flushables already have a certain scent.
(No further discussion required.)
I thought this said unflavored condom at first not wipe. I was like I’m not gonna taste anything personally hehehe

Plumbers across America rejoice and get their power snakes ready…
“flushable”
DO NOT wipe your butt with these. my um…friend…told me to tell you
The problem with these is that they are impossible to remove from the packaging. They are wet paper towels in a plastic bag. but you can’t get them out of the bag!
Not this crap again!
if you’re gonna get these to use after #2, and you can’t flush them, what do you do with them after they’re used? throw them in the trash can?
@dpease
I believe these are not meant to be butt wipes
@dpease
That being said, I’ve traveled to many countries in other parts of the world were toilet paper is placed in a trash can not flushed.
@chienfou @dpease that’s where a bidet comes in handy.
@dpease @Stumpy91
Those are even more infrequent in areas where you put your toilet paper in the trash can… go figure
Wow. Guess what just showed up on my doorstep! Can’t believe they got here this quick…

@chienfou don’t use them all in one place?
No wait, DO use them all in one place (just not in one go)

Don’t flush these.
‘Flushables’ that are not TP (or kleenex) are not.
I received mine as well and didn’t get the unscented ones that I ordered. I don’t mind the size since we use them primarily for the dog drool
