@mandirose Welcome! Do buyers specialize in their areas of expertise?

@mandirose How did you end up as a buyer, and what lead you to Mediocre?

@OldCatLady One of the best, most empowering parts of being a buyer at mediocre, is that we aren’t pigeon held to one specific type of product or category. That being said, many of us have areas we might have more connections in or get pitched more deals in, but if we can bring the mediocre community a great deal, that’s really what matters most!

@dashcloud I actually was previously a buyer for a big ol’ department store and before that I worked in the stores there. I was lucky to have a friend pester me enough about how much I’d enjoy mediocre and came to interview. I was pretty ready to leave corporate life and was hungry to learn something new. I felt like mediocre would give me the opportunity to learn and boy was I right about that! I love the fast pace of this job and that I’m always having to think in new and different ways. We have a great team here and that makes coming into work so much more fulfilling.

@mandirose Are buyers involved in procuring special Fuko items, like the statues @Barney recently posted about?

@WTFsunshine I did get in touch with one of Meh’s buyers. I did the math, and for me to 3D print the recommended quantity with my current setup would take me an estimated 720 days. I love the idea and had dreams of being the spinner king pin the night before last. Honestly, I just can’t compete with the Chinese manufacturers.
