I just need the emulsifier attachment on its own. I have hand mixer attachments that work on my power drill. These have the one piece that I’m missing, but I can never find one that would fit on a drill.
You don’ t need ANY attachments to puree beans. That’s one of the things that hand blenders specialize at. Just put the beans and stock in the pot and blend until the texture is whatever you need it to be.
What is that attachment in the second-to-last picture (with the chicken)? Doesn’t look like anything included with the Meh set or the Sidedeal set. Some sort of chicken musher?
Unique Multichopper accessory with ChopDrop technology
Unique Multichopper accessory with Chopdrop technology and ultra sharp blades, that allows you to chop all kinds of ingredients like a chef. The uniquely designed chamber keeps the ingredients in, while the three blades are chopping. Once the pieces reach the optimal size, they are dropped in the bowl: dry & regular every time. Perfect for onions, but also other vegetables, fruit, cheese, nuts & more, for the most delicious homemade salads.
If you’re on the fence take the leap. I use this thing at least once a week, and use it far more often that I ever thought I would.
I use potato flour as a thickener for soups and gravies as an alternative to a roux. If you’ve ever tried to mix potato flour with a liquid you know how hard it is to keep it from clumping/getting it smooth - the emulsifier on this makes it a snap.
The reviews on the 'Zon give me pause, as they’re only 73% positive (5+4 star), and all of the rave reviews are from Vine program members, who got this free. One of the top reviews says how good Braun appliances are (doh!). Pretty good price, but this set appears to have various flaws.
Also, if you’re using a whisk to make pancake batter, those are gonna be some really tough pancakes! Pancake/waffle batter should always be mixed gently with a fork, and a few small lumps are okay. Beating the heck out of it with a whisk is not a good idea…
@MrNews Pedantic take - Vine isn’t completely “free” - at tax time you pay 20% of the value.
FWIW - I never “tilted” my reviews because I was in the Vine program. That said - Amazon’s “hurry the fuck up and write a review” policy can mean reviews that aren’t really from long-term use. (and that is why I no longer Vine)
On numerous occasions I went back and altered reviews “later” because I finally had real seat-time with a product.
@MrNews You DO know you can mix gently with a whisk, right? Just because it’s a whisk doesn’t mean you need to bet the hell out of it. Would I use this particular whisk to make pancakes? No.
The pancakes I made last night for our dinner (with homemade mixed berry syrup and optional powdered sugar) were gently mixed with a whisk. As I always do. It happens to fit the vessel I use to mix my batter in quite well, and certainly better than a fork. And for the record, my pancakes are fluffy as fuck.
I bought something similar to this here a decade ago.
It comes in quite handy, but I think I’ve used the whisk maybe twice, and the food processor part once? But a good immersion blender is quite useful in lots of situations.
@djslack If you ever have to whip egg whites to peaks (ex - if you’re doing a true “Brit-style fish fry”) the whisk is awesome.
But yeah - otherwise it just sits in cabinet here.
And if you DO decide to use the whisk in a cup of something liquidy (like, oh, I dunno, 3 eggs) DO NOT immerse the whisk before it’s running and then turn it on, instead, have the whisk spinning as you slowly immerse it - because you will 1/2 and egg in the cup and 2-1/2 eggs “everywhere else” in about 1/10th of a second.
Not that I’ve ever done that, of course, but I’ve heard about it from a guy I know.
@werehatrack cordless is the one upside I can think of for the user above who mentioned having an immersion blender attachment for their drill. Multipurpose tools are great and all, but the ergonomics of a drill vs. a kitchen tool are not quite the same. I don’t know that I could successfully hold a medium speed with a drill trigger, for example. But throw a 6Ah 20v battery pack behind a brushless powered unit and I bet you can puree all day.
Something with a 300 watt motor and a slim profile like this wouldn’t be able to pack much battery capacity, so you’d either have to sacrifice power or duration or be bigger.
But damn it is annoying that product photos seem to go out of their way to hide cords and make it unclear. That a knowledgeable person like you asked demonstrates that Philips marketing didn’t clearly articulate the facts about their product in their photos and copy. But hardly anyone does anymore, so
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

THESE MAKE AWESOME MARGARITAS IN THE GLASS
MEALS! DEALS! EELS! AWESOME!
@alacrity ok, maybe in like a 20oz plastic one.

I see that you’re selling it with the spiralizer instead of the whisk on Walmart for $38

@thechinglish yes, also on Sidedeal for 29.99
@thechinglish @troy Whisk will get used more often here, grabbing one.
@troy Are the whisk and spiralizer attachments the only difference in the two sets? Does the whisk also fit on that other one or vice versa?
@Kyeh the pieces look interchangeable from the photos, but the spiralizer set also does not appear to include the food processor/chopper cup.
Unless you spiralized stuff a LOT, this seems to be the more useful package.
What is that attachment in the second-to-last picture (with the chicken)? Doesn’t look like anything included with the Meh set or the Sidedeal set. Some sort of chicken musher?
@stolicat Came here to ask the same.
@Pufferfishy @stolicat From the Philips product page for a different collection:
@troy Can you confirm that this is included, or get the photo set revised?
@hugacrv @Pufferfishy @stolicat @werehatrack I do not believe the chopdrop accessory is included in this set – I’ve removed that photo. Thanks!
@stolicat “chicken musher”

@djslack We have a Kitchenaid immersion blender, and it works well, but sometimes we need two of them, so this was an easy sale.

LEGOS! EGGOS! STRATEGO! AWESOME!
@werehatrack plus now you can race!
@troy Cordless? How does it charge, if so?
@werehatrack I thought one pic showed a shadow of a cord?
@werehatrack Not cordless

@djslack @werehatrack The second pic on the Sidedeal page shows a cord.
