@Barney my friend Barney..I think I have completely lost all of my minds. I am mired in testing sales tax rules @work, as well as property tax rules. If only it weren't a felony to get sales tax reporting wrong!
@dashcloud@mikibell i didn't code our sales tax stuff. i was just upset that these ridiculously complicated taxation schemes exist at all. it's like, not only does the tax cost people money, it also costs time and effort. it makes me very angry, because i feel like the people who vote for these taxes don't think about the burden of complexity, they just think about the money.
@katylava@mikibell We have a small company and we charge sales tax in California. Boy, do the few people who purchase in California whine about it. We had a dealer in Texas, who wanted the package shipped to California try to sidestep paying the tax. Said "we have a resale license". Yeah, they did. For Texas.
Ended up shipping the order to Texas and they shipped it to California. To avoid paying sales tax.
