Is this worth getting? i’ve tried an electric paint sprayer before (granted it was probably near first gen dewalt)… and was so disappointed. It took longer to figure out the thing didn’t work than it would have just to roll out the paint.
@mbersiam I have something similar I bought from Harbor Freight. It doesn’t move a lot of paint, which can be good or bad depending on your application. For doing a garage interior? Bad. For covering a chair with lots of decorative surface area? Good.
@narfcake I looked at the reviews on Walmart. It looks like it works but you also get what you pay for. I’m not sure how thin the paint needs to be. But still, even up to 3 coats of thinner paint with a efficient sprayer seems less daunting that rolling everything manually
@mbersiam@narfcake These are good for “utility work” like staining a fence or a barn, but they’re not great with, say, interior latex paint - it’s just too thick.
But turbine sprayers are awesome - I have several (3 and 5 “stage”)
If you do want to use it with latex look into “Floetrol” or other paint flow additives. You’ll need to thin the paint with a little water and add the flow agent, but it will lay down paint like nothing else, with very little over-spray.
@mbersiam The reviews at WM were gleaned off of Tacklife’s site themselves and one WM 5-star review was along the lines of “looks good, haven’t used it”.
It’s Tacklife – so your mileage may vary as far as how well it works. It’s not the same as an airless sprayer, so temper your expectations as far as power/coverage go… .the reviews seem to be generally OK.
Man, I just fired up a lawnmower by this company day before yesterday that I bought off here and it is TERRIBLE. The wheel fell off four times in the two hours I used it and the whole thing feels flimsy. I would stay away from this brand. Keep in mind they also got delisted on Amazon for having fake reviews. Oh, and I’m sure this is no surprise, but the phone number for their customer service has been disconnected on top of all that.
@mediocrebot@narfcake “Dorky”? Does that apply to the rib or to you? How well does the bot know you? But I’d still be interested in those ribs if they were set before me and weren’t just a picture.
@narfcake Yeah, I think I’ll give it a go, too.
I’ve bought several TackLife products here since Meh started shilling them, and have found them to be worth the price (so far, at least).
And I absolutely hate painting (other than the old paint-by-number sets), so will try to lessen the drudgery.

That being said, I like the concept
@mbersiam Likewise. I’m in the market for one too.

@mbersiam @narfcake
So helpful.
@goldnectar @mbersiam Looked at the manuals/parts diagrams for both – and yeah, they look extremely similar!
@Kyeh @mbersiam I miss the unhelpful button – especially for the folks who give 1-star reviews for “I bought the wrong item and it didn’t fit.”
@mbersiam @narfcake ME TOO!

@Imandote oh yikes, thanks for your input. I think I’ll wait on this deal and just get something with better reviews
@mbersiam I’m glad I can serve as a cautionary tale at the very least.
@Imandote @mbersiam The TL tools I’ve bought before (when they were still on Amazon) have been fine – so yeah, hit and miss.
Fuck it, I’m in.
