We have a Swann system set up and really like it. If I had the money right now, I'd upgrade to the better one here. Since I'm home alone with the kids at night, the system gives me some peace of mind. Also, it's nice being able to see who's ringing the door bell without going down two flights of stairs. Also, their customer service is really good. We had some issues getting it set up right to view on our computer and phones and we called and they walked us through it. Highly recommended.
If this was an 8-channel system, I'd probably upgrade to the 1080p HD version. Instead I'll just save my money for a LPR camera (license plate recognition) and log every vehicle that goes up the street.
We put a Swann system in my grandma's house when she developed a habit of falling in the bathroom in the middle of the night. It's been nice to be able to log into the app and check on her without having to call and wake her up or risk her falling trying to get to the phone. The only issue I've had is that I'm not admin on the acct and my family forgets to give me the new IP address when it changes (which seems to be fairly frequently)
I have a few questions for the current owners of these cameras. If, hypothetically, a teenaged family member was using the house to host friends while people were gone then denying it, and during these times in question certain items seemingly disappeared, would one of these systems let me monitor my property well? I would like to see from work, but viewing later from a recording is fine, too. I want to be able to see the common area (living/dining) and the outside of the front and back doors.
Are the cameras wireless and if so, would shutting off the router basically down the whole system?
When the Meh page began to load this morning I was all, "Hot damn! They're finally selling barb wire!" Then it completely loaded and I was all, "meh." I could use some barb wire.
@Teripie Devil's Rope Barb Wire Museum in TX had (at least when I was there - long story - I wasn't responsible, was just along for the ride) quite a collection of different kinds they sold

Looks like same price as Meh at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/HDR4-8200-Channel-Digital-Recorder-SHD-870/dp/B00B6LIFEA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8
@dbond79 Doesn't look like the same unit.
@patti The model numbers match, HDR4-8200.
@dbond79: It's from a 3rd party vendor with only 20 total ratings, not from Amazon itself.
Plus $20 shipping.
@narfcake is right - it's a 3rd party seller - and also ironically they only have 3 in stock. Reseller among us :P
@Collin1000 If that Amazon seller is buying here, he must like losing money, after considering Amazon's fees.
These are fun to hang on the side of your house pointed at your neighbor's back yard -- ESPECIALLY if they have a pool.
that's devious....and awesome
Why not? My neighbor has one of his cameras pointed into my other neighbors bedroom. ;)
wait. what does that say about you?
It says I have a creepy neighbor?
Just caught this asshole breaking into one of my cars on Friday morning. Meh...
Footage caught with Zmodo camera system that we bought on Woot 2+ years ago.
I like the look of defeat he has when he realizes there isn't anything good in the garage. Bastard.
Nothing good in the car either. Just a bunch of crap.
He's in jail now because you have the camera, right?
@ssteve Like the main Meh page says: Placeb-O-Vision.
Placebovision indeed! It's really only good for posting videos on Meh.
Can meh offer the carful o'crap....seems like a better burglary deterrent
$WTF everywhere else?
$1199 in the description. Which really is WTF since it's twice as much as what Meh is selling it for.
I sold my soul and home privacy to Google (dropcam) after we got broken into a year ago. Otherwise I'd be in for one. Great price.

Also, I say 'also' a lot.
I also do that

SELL US CCHHHEAAAAAP THINGGSSSSS
Here's another fun clip for you - a week or so after we got the cameras. Great neighborhood, eh?
Well, that certainly was an interesting clip! Sorry for the loss of that beautiful car! What a buffoon!
For the first 20 seconds of the video it looks like she's driving on the grass - is she?
No - that's the street on the other side of the median. One way down, turn around, one way back up.
Swatting a bee -- is that teen-speak for "texting"?
Sexting?

Sign up for a free or cheap domain name, like dyndns.org?
PLOT TWIST: I will be taking care of her house for a while. Now I have to remember not to walk around naked or pick my nose while I'm there
I've been looking for such system for 8 months and this is really a nice deal. Just that 4-channel is simply not enough.
4 channels is decent on the 1080p version because the cameras are 75 degree viewing angle (compared to the SD's 38 degree angle).
Thank you, but I want to monitor outside of my house, preferably some area of inside as well. 4-channel is far from enough for outside only.
Sample video from the 1080p cameras:
Daytime:
Nighttime:
That night vision rocks. Much better than the Zmodo garbage that was on sale back in the day.
If underage kids have sex in your yard and your security cameras record it,can you get into trouble?
lol... probably only if you keep the video, or sell it or give it away
we actually had that happen at work (a college, and kids from the high school next door in a stairwell)
These are the questions you can only find on Meh.
My intention was to record whoever was leaving used condoms in my yard and if it was the neighbor's kids, give them the video.
Plot twist, I buy the camera, only to find it was the parents having sex in my yard. Meh.
Not give it to the neighbor kids - use it as blackmail if they even breathe the air in your yard and threaten to give it to their parents
It was the parents? How do you know? Better post it, to be sure. Let the mehcommunity decide.
@G1 No, I never found out who.
@Kidsandliz I like that Idea, the kids could pick up after the parents' cigarette butts and tree limbs the parents throw in our yard.
Wish I had the money for this. Bigfoot stole my lawnmower the other day, if I had this to get video or a still frame I'd be all set! ;'|
Not a fuzzy squach Photo? That would be cool.

Are the cameras wireless and if so, would shutting off the router basically down the whole system?
Thanks. :/
You can view them remotely from a web page or a smart phone (some network setup required). If your kid unplugs the router, no view for you.
You need something stealth to deal with teens… camera in the clock, voice activated recorder behind the bed frame, spyware on computer/phone
Are the cameras for this system wireless?
Don't think they are wireless. The HD comes with 60' of coax cable x4, and the SD comes with 60' BNC cables.
Just bought one.
Thats the first thing i bought here i ACTUALLY needed.

Looks like Border Patrol is setting up systems in San Diego county.
Only 18 of these sold? Meh!
@VeeDubTDI One was me!
I think that when someone mentioned Barb Wire, that they really meant:
우와. 이거 꼭 필요한거였는데 딜을 놓쳤네.. 컥.
다음에 또 할 가능성은 없겠지.. 안될꺼야.. 난..
