Super Bowl 50 Predictions
5Who ya got?
I'd love to see Peyton walk away on top but I just don't think it will happen. Denver's defense is incredible, but so is Carolina's offense. I just don't see Denver getting enough stops. And the Panthers defense is pretty damn stout as well.
I think Carolina will be able to get in Peyton's face early and create an turnover to get the momentum going their way out of the gate. If Denver can't counter with a turnover of their own then Carolina could be up by double digits at half. I think Denver makes a bit of a push to open up the second half and rallies behind Peyton but falls short in the end.

I predict that the Pats will not win this year.
@mydrivec and the world shall rejoice
@MEHcus Damn straight!
@MEHcus you can sleep on the couch tonight.
@asgriffin
@MEHcus @teripie ... is Free coffee that much to ask for?
@sohmageek Sorry goat, (you are today's goat right?) while I love to show off my coffee machine and give coffee to anyone who asks, no coffee for goats.
I think the Panthers will easily beat Denver. I'd like to see Peyton go out on top, but I also want Superman to go crazy. My son has a lot of money tied up in Cam rookie cards, a lot of money. Today he's bringing over some of them so I can choose one to buy for $200, and that price is a steal. If the Panthers put up some big numbers the return on the card will be, to quote Trump, "Huge!"
I'm torn, would love to see Peyton get it (old guy makes good), but Cam SO deserves it. What a phenom, and a joy to watch. Regardless of all that, I think the Panthers will defeat Broncos by a pretty wide margin. Looking forward to some fun on-field acrobatics (but not a very close game).
@ACraigL I think he'll get his in time if he doesn't this time. The dude is just too good.
@MEHcus Probably, but no one is injury-risk free, particularly someone as mobile as he is. A Superbowl win is like my train to work -- get the first one that you can, you have no idea when the next one will come. (If anyone is familiar with SEPTA, you know what I'm talking about)
Thinking about some good snack ideas for Super Bowl. Sorry, I don't know about sports in general.
@galmaegi Feel free to talk about those too!
@MEHcus It's also Lunar New Year holiday weekend. I should stop by Hmart I guess. :)
@galmaegi I went to one of those a couple weeks ago- the selection is nice there, and we got some lunch to go.
Maybe you could film a video there?
@galmaegi I used to say I won every year... cause the half time show came on... then the TV went off... Go out in a bang... why have sports get in the way ;)
@galmaegi I LOVE HMART! Just discovered it a few months ago. So much delightful awesomeness.
I'm a big Bronco's fan. I was living in Denver when Elway was in his rookie year. I thought, "This kid will never make it." Boy, was I wrong. I had moved back to Kansas in '86 and '87 when Denver was in their first back to back Super Bowl appearances. I thought, "Piece of cake." Boy, was I wrong. In '97 and '98 I thought, "Gee, I don't think they can win." I was wrong. Yay! But this year, I'm a thinking that Carolina is just too good. I hope I'm wrong.
Peyton retires in the first quarter
@Lotsofgoats If Kuechly gets to him you might be right
@MEHcus Yup, Carolina doesn't blitz that often but when they do Peyton will feel it. And I'm not sure he throws high enough to keep it away when Kuechly is playing zone
Bronco's are a good team in a traditional sense. However, they're going to get danced on. They have never played an offense as mobile as Carolina's. No doubt they'll shut down the RB's at times but that read option is going to shred Denver's defensive line. Carolina has so many aces when it comes to moving the ball that Denver won't be able to keep up. Peyton is a great QB and I don't wanna see him go out on a lose but I'm a Panthers Fan and I do want to see them get the win they deserve.
Carolina 34
Denver 17
@RedHot Thanks for playing along and actually giving a prediction, didn't think it would be that hard to get a few guesses out of folks
This has been one of the most lopsided predicted super bowls I can remember. Almost everyone is thinking Carolina wins and wins relatively easy.
Denver's defense is a lot better than anything Carolina has faced this year. That pass rush is ridiculously good. Both corners can shut someone down.
As good as Cam is he has had a few games where he struggled.
I think Manning has accepted his role as the guy who's job it is not to lose the game.
Broncos win 16-13
@MrMark I won't be surprised if that's what happens at all if Carolina is eating all of the media hype up.
@MrMark I've never bet money on anything but I would probably put $10 down on the Broncos to win for this reason.
I know very little about football. I can follow a game and mostly hold my own in fantasy football. The meh league was not a good example of this but I've finished in the top half the last 3 years at work and only missed the playoffs by 3 points this year. All that being said, I'm rooting for Peyton and google tells me that the most common score is 23-20 so I guess that's my prediction - Denver wins 23-20.
Carolina 20 Denver 13
I predict that the team with the moist points at the end of the game shall win. That's about as Meh a prediction as I can make.
@MrsPavlov John Madden, is that you?
@MrsPavlov And beyond that, the winner will emerge victorious. Also, what's a moist point?
@parodymandotcom I think it's like when you're whipping a meringue but haven't quite gotten to stiff peaks yet
Football. Is that the one they play on the ice with sticks?
Let's go Mets!
Carolina 14
Denver 10
I predict low scoring. I expect to be wrong.
I predict that left shark will not be showing up this year.
Oh, this is painful. I desperately want my Broncos to win, but the Panthers have really had it together this season. If I'm totally honest, I think Carolina will win. And I've been sending up these desperate "Please, please don't let this be as humiliating as the last time!" prayers every time I think about the game.
That said, I have this irrational hope thing about me. I don't know how to give up. I always cling to that one-in-a-million chance and won't let go until it's over. So I'm going to let hope trump reason (again) and say... we're down something like 21-9 at the half, but we come back for a final score of
Broncos: 33
Panthers: 31
All I can predict with confidence, though, is that the game will be interesting when the Panthers have the ball (Broncos D!) and varying shades of ugly when the Broncos offense takes the field.
@christinewas @Mehcus I think that if Peyton has one good quarter, the Cats win. If Peyton has two good quarters, the Horsies will win. I don't think he has three good quarters left in him.
I predict that @curtise will not watch the Super Bowl.
I'm going to be scientific and look at the facts:
~I had the Broncos defense for my FFBL team + WR Sanders. They did well by me. Sure, Sanders was injured off and on like everyone else. But defense never let me down.
~ I traded both RBs --Hillman and Anderson back and forth and gone.They are rather meh.
~On the other hand I had Stewart as a RB. He was ok, but not spectacular.
~ I also had the Carolina kicker for while. He was reliable, but I don't even remember his name.
~ I had the other Manning as my sub. QB when Carson was out, and he did well.
~I came in second in my league, and if not for injuries of most of the rest of my team I just may have beaten @joelmw
~I was tied for second in the bracket selection and won an amazing handmade Irk courtesy of @sammydog01
~ John Elway played baseball for my hometown farm team one summer. He could of gone pro either way.
~I lived in NC for a couple years: Bugs, slugs and thugs.
~Sunday is my birthday.
Taking all those vital facts and using a secret algorithm that would make @shawn proud, it's clear Denver will win 27- 17
@ceagee Good application of those science skills. Looks pretty irrefutable.
@ceagee I'm thinking that maybe the winner of the Meh pick'em league would be a more reliable source- who was that again?
@sammydog01 hmm....I don't remember :P
@ceagee I had Cam on my team, and believe it or not, he was my back up QB! Roethlisberger was my #1. But it was Cam who won the Super Bowl for me, I was down 42 points and managed to over come that thanks to Cam and Antonio Brown.
@Teripie Stop living in the past. No one cares about your comeback. All it means is you were down 41 after week 16 when fantasy football is suppose to end. Stupid extra week. :)
super bowl mvp will be Peyton Manning's chin strap, for keeping a helmet on that monster noggin
If it were any other team in it I would want to see Peyton Manning win one more (although the way he's handled this HGH story's been a little concerning), but it's my beloved Panthers he's playing, and they're really good. This team has felt special for most of the season. When games have gotten close it's because the coaches took their foot off the gas and left the defense hanging for most of the second half. They've seemed to finally, finally understand that in the Arizona game, so I don't think they'll make that mistake again.
Carolina 37
Denver 20
What's this superbowl thing? ;)
@luvche21 I think it means a nice large serving bowl, like one of these.
The 2 best D's in football and all the talking heads can say is it's going to be a very defensive game. They may have something there but I think scoring will be high. I call Panthers: 31, Broncos: 17.
I think Denver will win by two FT, if not a grand slam. Horsies +24 SwampCats er15
@silencets you came very close!!
I asked Alexa who was going to win and she is going with the panthers.
@miko1 I've never trusted Alexa.
@parodymandotcom It drives me crazy that they call them World Champions. If we're taking it that far, why not galaxy... or universe?
@christinewas At least with the World Series Canada can theoretically participate.
I really want the Broncos to win, but if they lose, I hope it's more graceful than that shit show two years ago.
It's probably going to be like this
Sarcastaball
let us consult the mehcronomicon.
"On the day of the bowl, be it super, he who drinketh his share, shall win. Lest there be money riding on this bitch, and the offense is acting like it could not score in a whorehouse with a stack of hundred dollar bills. So say we all."
If I were a betting woman, I would have predicted that the game would go unwatched in my house. Boy, I would have been SOOOO wrong.. Where did my daughter learn about football??
first commercial break sucked
second commercial break sucked
third commercial break... lol Doritos-induced labor
fourth commercial break sucked but it's cool how our brains will see 3D with the clever use of midground elements
fifth commercial break was weird af and almost involved beastiality
sixth commercial break was confusing... I have no idea what square space is, nor do I care
@Lotsofgoats the audi commercial was cute... Good music..
seventh commercial break... sigh
@Lotsofgoats the marmot (or whatever) was ineffective.. I have no idea what they were selling..
@mikibell I only know because I know that brand, they're like... an outdoorsy coat company sorta like Patagonia
eighth commercial break... somehow you got me to laugh with that linoleum tiles joke
@Lotsofgoats didn't like the buick commercial..I assume they are famous football players?
@Lotsofgoats the quicken commmercial wasn't bad..bet OSHA wouldn't approve.
@mikibell it was ok, the OBJ gag was funny mostly for the diving bridesmaid
ninth commercial break made me skittles my pants
@Lotsofgoats didn't get the buick reference..liked the skittles..bud light wasn't awful..
tenth commercial break... I already forget
@Lotsofgoats omg..t mobile adorble! Hyundai..ehhhhhh
@mikibell lol poor Steve Harvey
I hate that ball commercial in every iteration, though. buh.
eleventh commercial break involved pooping
@Lotsofgoats or not....
@Lotsofgoats I agree about the ball commercial..so stupid..but Steve was funny..

@carl669 gotta love clydesdales...and queen for honda
@mikibell did I miss the horses? How ?
@ceagee they were in the commercial where the guy flicked the orange off the beer and said it wasn't fruit salad... ;)
@Lotsofgoats superbowl babies and Seal were pretty!
@mikibell Must not of had puppies this year too
@mikibell I saw two of the super bowl baby commercials and I find it total trash that the NFL is trying to pitch itself as a family organization 😒
@Lotsofgoats I think I saw the first ad, but it didn't quite register. The second one made me laugh because of all the different blizzard "babies".. Or the 2003 blackout babies...I bet the count in MUCH higher than the super bowl babies.
@mikibell We had Mike Tyson for a local HVAC company.
@mikibell @Lotsofgoats Super Bowl babies was funny the first time but got creepy when they came back to it and when they got to the whole song and dance I was thoroughly skeeved. Stop trying to get me to knock up a girl! I feel like they want to watch!
WOW WHAT A TRASH REVIEW LOL that was a catch
wowww that is a really vicious facemask
it makes zero sense that you lose a challenge opportunity when your challenge is successful. NFL is dumb.
@Lotsofgoats Tennis you get 3 unsuccessful challenges, IIRC.
Am I right @mfladd?
@sohmageek i cant believe they booooed the patriots mvps...regardless..
@sohmageek
^^^ lol typical patriots fans aren't actual fans of football
you'd think hitting the upright would be worth like 4 points or something.
My 27-17 Denver isn't looking so silly now is it?
@ceagee I'm glad the game is over. I'm outta cheese curls.
Would someone please find the smelling salts for @christinewas?
@Barney Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I just started hearing fireworks. (Husband heard them, too, so I'm not just going crazy.) What an exciting end to an ugly season.
@christinewas The best.
welp, one of my friends is a huge Peyton Manning fan, and when I say that I mean that he literally said that Peyton is the greatest player in history (lol) so somehow I feel this 0 TD 1 INT performance isn't going to help that delusion at all.
