Does anyone have any experience with the whole breaking down into smaller pieces thing (because clearly such a massive object will never fit in my suitcase whole)? I don't plan on traveling with them- my main concern is that they'll just sorta disassemble themselves during regular use. The cord getting pulled out is another concern, does it have any sorta lock on it to prevent that?
@nogoodwithnames They snap together. You have to depress a little plastic tab to get them to come apart. I'd say you'd have to be doing something pretty crazy to get it to come apart during normal use.
I'm curious if the doctored image is always going to come first now or if this was a one-time deal to go along with today's write-up. I guess we'll find out tomorrow if someone from Mediocre doesn't tell us today.
Haven't had any problem with mine dissembling itself, and the sound is good. But the microphone is nigh-useless, making anything you say come out as a whisper to everyone else.
I have this Headset, Bought 2.. I am still using a different HS, son says it is TOO Tight, had to put the inserts in. I got mine out of the box the other day, and tried it on. I have to agree with him, it is WAY too tight for me. I guess I need to try the inserts as well.. AND NO... We don't have huge heads..!!! This is a good price though, seems like I paid more at that other site.. (Woot)
@Mandamm I agree with you. I have a pair and they're too tight. I recently bought the 808 bluetooth headphones and they blow this one out of the water.. my 7H's will now collect dust..
@gwrankin this is exactly the kind of really specific and usefull comparison that I read these forums for. Thanks for the heads(et) up! I also have the 808 Duo and I really like it.
@sgttsmitty Microsoft Announces 1 TB Xbox One For $399, New Controller With 3.5mm Audio Jack." The original xbox one controller does not support 3.5mm...it will WITH an adapter. so yes, these could work with xbox one WITH an adapter.
Had these. They were great, sounded great..... Until the internal harness broke in multiple places.
Prior to that I had multiple external cable failures. Steel series was happy to send me free out of warranty replacements for those, but I was SOL on the internal failure. At this price, probably worth it. Under warranty for a year.
I bought two of these last time at $6 more a pop I believe. One sits on my Gaming PC desk with my V2's, the other near my bed with my HD-598's. They sound as good as the V2's, not quite as good as the 598's but better bass. They sound noticeably better than my 808's, but less bass which is probably why some think those sound better. That's just my opinion of course.
Steelseries cables are rather pathetic but I'm always nice to my stuff, never had a problem. My head is large but not oversized (unless you ask my wife) and they fit tighter than the V2's but feel more secure. I swap between them as honestly no single set of cans sits well for multiple hours at a time.
I did have to put a small piece of folded paper in the connectors as one side of each pair slid out too easily, easy fix, very secure now. And I don't break these down for travel. I use the 808's for that.
I've had no issue with the micrphones, not the best, but they get the job done, the V2 seems clearer but that's all speculation on believing my wife and kids who have to listen to me through it. I have been tempted to take the mic's apart to compare, but then I remember how lazy I am. Wouldn't be surprised if they are the same element.
@jrauzi It seems like you might need to change some settings on the Playstation 4 for audio to work, and buy an adapter if you want to use the mic to chat. Check those links and feel free to reply back if that doesn't help!

I like that you made the creepy pic the first one on the page. Makes the refresh much more interesting.
@lichme Who says me be creeepy? I just took a quick self-E fur them down at meh.
@Rumple Look at that beard.
@Rumple Aye do.
That's weird meh put the prank image first... Does it come with the eye patch???
@rileyper No one takin me eye patch. Cut it and sewed it from a sharks belly. Arrrr
I had the original 7H for a while, it just didn't last as long as my previous Steelseries headsets. I'll pass on this.
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.
@jrwofuga But it is Florida Orange... for that alone, YES. :-)
I just want the eye patch.
I got excited for a second, I'm legally blind in one eye.. then I noticed it was for headphones and not the meh eye patch.
SO WHAT GAME CONSOLE SUPPORTS THIS HEADSET???
@Oldude The one that headphones can plug into
I'm not playing games. Do not post gaming headset anymore. It comes every other day.
@omang1221 Last one was in March. But every other day, sure.
+1 for wanting just the Meh eyepatch. How long before we can expect to be able to purchase?

I don't plan on traveling with them- my main concern is that they'll just sorta disassemble themselves during regular use. @nogoodwithnames The parts fit snugly, but there's no lock.
@nogoodwithnames They snap together. You have to depress a little plastic tab to get them to come apart. I'd say you'd have to be doing something pretty crazy to get it to come apart during normal use.
So many sites (including Amazon) list the response range as 18 - 28,000 Hz versus the 10 - 28,000 Hz listed here. Can someone confirm the true range?
@RedOx Frequency ranges that are just two numbers aren't very valuable - you need the real frequency curve to actually judge quality
@cole And you won't hear either 10 hz or 18 hz coming out of these cans anyway. Those frequency values are basically subsonic.
@robson Based upon the rattling trunk lids we witness on roads today, perhaps the point is to feel rather than hear the "music".
@RedOak Maybe people just want to live their dream of driving a tambourine.
I'm curious if the doctored image is always going to come first now or if this was a one-time deal to go along with today's write-up. I guess we'll find out tomorrow if someone from Mediocre doesn't tell us today.
Arrrrrg, we be cast away in the sea of comfortable irrelevance.
@uwacn True, and I thinkst me parrot just pooped in me beer. I don't waste me beer..... down the hatch it goes.
Haven't had any problem with mine dissembling itself, and the sound is good. But the microphone is nigh-useless, making anything you say come out as a whisper to everyone else.
and the next VMP freebie will be... Meh Eyepatches.
so much glory.
@RogerWilco It just needs to be here by speak like a pirate day!
Since when are dirty pirate hookers, gamers? Meh, in for 1 dirty pirate hooker.
@brianmc1975 What? Are these made to be used in the bedroom?

@Mandamm This answered my first question, if it would fit on a larger than average head. The answer, sadly, is no.
@Mandamm I've got a pair and use them regularly. They are a little tight on me, but not too bad. What are these inserts you speak of?
@sjk3 I have a larger than average head. I had to change out the ear cushions, but I use them all the time without a thought. I like them.
@Mandamm I agree with you. I have a pair and they're too tight. I recently bought the 808 bluetooth headphones and they blow this one out of the water.. my 7H's will now collect dust..
@sjk3 I have a huge head. It works fine for me. Just adjust it.
@gwrankin this is exactly the kind of really specific and usefull comparison that I read these forums for. Thanks for the heads(et) up! I also have the 808 Duo and I really like it.
i'll pay $38.00 for the beard and scars
Are these on-ear or over-ear or around-ear?
For those interested the SteelSeries 7h for "ipad/ipod/iphone" (3.5 mm jack) is $33.85 from Amazon with free prime shipping. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0056VMBOG/ref=psdcmw_3015405011_t3_B005YR0XDS
@Serafyna Was wondering if I could get this without looking like a hornet, thanks.
A pretty face, a sale does not make.
@rumple:
How much does it cost a pirate to get a piercing?
A buck an ear!
@ACraigL If ye be chance-n a hepatitus Sea.
@ACraigL What's an Italian Pirate's favorite womanly body type? S'curvy.
Meh... I wanted a pair like this for a while... but you've spoiled me with 808's now...
Anyone know if these would work on an Xbox One?

@connorbush that is for an Xbox 360
@j_sh darn. I suck again. good catch.
What's up with making fun of Fnatic?

"Breaks down into four pieces for easy traveling or to use the individual pieces as weapons"
Just kidding, TSA.
Pirate booty, still Meh!
what do I have to do to use these with Playstation 4. bought for my grandson and he says they wont work? please help
