It's getting a mite floody in parts of Texas
7There’s a bunch of flood warnings out today, and a number of roads are just flat unsafe. It’s likely to get worse. The rain is still coming. I’m safe where I live in Houston; most of the flood warnings are for the area west and south of San Antonio.
The water is high in some of the Houston-area bayous, and there’s isolated “yeah, that always floods” water accumulating, but no freeway regattas, and not much danger of them in the next 12 hours’ worth of forecast.
If the water ever gets up to my door, it’ll be because pretty much the whole northwest side of the city is waist-deep or much worse.

Glad you are safe. I wonder if MD Anderson Cancer Cener has water coming in the main clinic front door again (despite the closable flood walls they built) and if the basement is flooding again. If they have a fair n=bit of water I am positive their brand new CT machines are under water. It was only normal rain and the water was 3" deep outside the add on trailers they were in and just one step up to get into the trailers. Whatever Einstein decided to put the brand new machines in those trailers needs their head examined. They had finally put a raised pad for patients and staff to walk on to keep from walking in the water. And the overhead tarp roof was dripping water on our heads.
@Kidsandliz It’s often the administrators or accountants who makes those types of decisions. The regular staff and installers usually have an idea where the common pitfalls are, but get overruled because of budgets or timelines, the same as any other industry.

@Kidsandliz The Med Center hasn’t had any issues this time.
I’m in the metro Detroit area and we’re getting the smoke from the Canadian wildfires right now. News said it’s some of the worst smoke in the world and going outside for 1 hour is equivalent to smoking 2-3 packs of cigarettes (it varies hour to hour). My brother lived in Portland, OR for over a decade and said this is worse than any wildfire smoke he’s ever scene. I was supposed to go to a concert tonight but thankfully that got cancelled. All the plants (ford, gm, Chrysler) were pretty much shut down by noon bc of the smoke. It’s really bad, very hazy and you can smell it and taste it in the air as soon as you walk outside.
@Star2236 The previous days were like getting a face full of BBQ charcoal. Then came the smoker breathing on you smell. Now it’s just sawdust to me.
Still causes wheezing and crying, so all the more reason to hide indoors with the windows closed and the air purifier going 24/7.
@Star2236 I have an air quality on the back of the House. I have check on it… Today we Had a 320 PM 2.5. tonight it is down ot 215
