Spooky music videos
6I don’t mean videos for spooky music, I mean music videos that are essentially mini horror movies.
Laura Branigan, Self Control
OK, maybe more of an erotic thriller with supernatural elements, but they got William Friedkin to direct.
Herbie Hancock, Rockit
Still so disturbing.
ZZ Top, TV Dinners
Some sweet claymation.
Childish Gambino did a whole series of mildly disturbing music videos:
3005
Watch the bear and the background.
Telegraph Ave
This may be a continuation of another video where he is bitten by a sea creature while swimming. Everything happens in the second half.
Sober
I don’t even know what’s going on in the video, but it’s my favorite of his.
So, there must be more than a handful of videos from the early '80’s and one musician working this decade. What am I forgetting?

My favorite mini-horror-movie music video:
Lordi - Blood Red Sandman
@Aspirant_Fool I guess I don’t know how to embed videos, oh well. They also had one for Hard Rock Hallelujah, which might have gotten some radio play in the mid aughts?
@Aspirant_Fool It has a plot and everything! Made me want to watch The Cabin in the Woods again.

To embed from YouTube (often works with other video source sites as well), just paste the url at the beginning of a line.

That post saved to a post simply displaying the embedded video, the one you see right above this post.
@Aspirant_Fool Wait a sec, that song won Eurovision?! Amazing!
Seriously, no one has mentioned

@ybmuG I was saving it for YOU!
@mossygreen well, you did have it as the background pic, so I figured someone would have already posted it by now. Arguably the start of the genre.
@ybmuG Who looks at background pics? Laura Branigan is right there.
@mossygreen good point!
What a fun thread! Thank you for sharing this stuff.
Check this one out:
@Omehgawd That was relentless.
@mossygreen, you missed 2 from Gambino:
Sweatpants:
Bonfire:
@earlyre Well, I didn’t want people to think it was a stealth Childish Gambino thread. I mean, on purpose.
@mossygreen understandable, but, to me at least, those 2 (Sweatpants/Bonfire) fit the category better than the Sober video. (which to me is just 2 people waiting for takeout, one of whom is really high)
@earlyre Bonfire, yes, absolutely. I think the Sober video is inexplicably creepy, but I understand if you don’t.
Can’t believe I forgot this dystopian sci fi Foetus video!
Here Comes the Rain

OK, more creepy than spooky.
Enjoy this Eurythmics video which suddenly becomes an episode of The Twilight Zone at the end:
