Spooky Goat day nineteen! SPOOKY FAST FOOD!
2SPOOKY FAST FOOD
I was SO EXCITED about the return of McDonald’s Boo Buckets (for no real reason; not my era), but then I saw in this article from The Takeout that they don’t have lids:
https://thetakeout.com/mcdonalds-halloween-pails-boo-buckets-review-happy-meal-1849672058
I mean, what the hell? A lid makes it a useable storage device, a plastic, bar-type-thing just makes it a damn dust catcher that doesn’t stack.
I have a small, stupid collection of McDonald’s Boo Buckets and Dunkin’ Donuts Halloween munchkin pails (literally, like, three), which not only have lids, but have lids with a removeable middle, so you really could use them for trick-or-treating (not really) or candy/munchkin display/dispensing. Much more sensible. And they glow in the dark, which is very important.
I was idly considering making a McDonald’s run, but after this, my Halloween fast food dollars will probably just go to the Burger King Ghost Pepper Whopper and all its beautiful food dye.
It didn’t get a great review at The Takeout (where I still get way too much of my news), but it got a mediocre review that made me want to eat it anyway.

Mine from yesterday:
I was at Home Depot buying yellow jacket poison and dropped by.
I’m jealous of your donut bucket.
I also had a cool slurpee bucket from a bunch of years ago but I think it went to college. Like this:
The movie was set in 2020 … I’m not eating any “Beyond Meat”!
@MarkDaSpark And kosher!
McGoblin is available!
@mossygreen My complaint about the new happy pails is the handle, not the lid. I remember getting happy pails in the 80s that were basic buckets with a sand toy. I would take my little bucket and little shovel to the beach and dig up crabs. (Yes I was a fully grown adult.) The handle was nice- these don’t fold down.
@sammydog01 I was going to ask if you thought they’re worth picking up, and I still will, even though I MAY have missed the ghost. ARE they worth picking up, or should I wait for them to show up at Goodwill? I like a handle that moves.
@mossygreen The handle does move, it just doesn’t fold down to the side. I’m thinking about clipping the plastic in the middle off so it will.
I would say it’s worth it if you are planning on eating the food inside. I’m a once a week regular at McDonalds but don’t get the happy meal unless the toy is good. I have a minions happy pail under the kitchen sink with brushes in it.
@mossygreen @sammydog01 Interesting, they call this one McGoblin, but it definitely looks like a witch; I wonder if they thought they’d get called sexist for making it a witch?
Also when I clicked on the McDonald’s link, it showed an ad for a really scary-looking movie, “Prey for the Devil.”
@Kyeh @mossygreen That movie looks amazing. I’ll be going. I thought it was weird they called it a goblin- your explanation sounds reasonable.
@mossygreen @sammydog01 I hope you’ll give us a movie review.
@Kyeh @mossygreen I’ll let you know but if you like terrifying movies I recommend Smile. Almost spilled my raisinets.
@mossygreen @sammydog01
I hate terrifying movies, but I’m terribly curious, that’s why I like it when someone else goes and then tells me about it.
