Inductive charging uses an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between two objects through electromagnetic induction… WHY ARE THERE CONDUCTIVE POINTS???
@rileyper This made me think of one of my favorite Amazon reviews from someone who thought RTFM was stupid for a toothbrush and didn’t understand how inductive charging works.
“with Inductive Charging Base” Are you sure? It looks like it has contacts and the box says nothing about inductive charging. However I’m too lazy to actually look up the item with google right now to find out for sure.
I do not think ‘inductive charging base’ means what you think it means. I mean, ‘charging base’ absolutely, but those are some pretty well exposed charging pins. I mean, unless the base itself takes a charge wirelessly?
I mean, if that’s the case, that sounds silly enough that I -need- it.
I’m starting a movement here and now to refer to these chargers based on conductive contacts as “deductive chargers” to differentiate them from real inductive chargers.
from a 36 mm (1.4 inch) speaker?
It’d be interesting to see how they tested this.
Maybe they bypassed the speaker and hooked the circuit directly to the oscilloscope.
@2many2no Just about any speaker will reproduce 20Hz to 20KHz if you don’t care if the loudness is comparable across the range. Pump a 20Hz signal into it and stick your ear right on it and you can probably hear a little something.
It’s deceptive and worthless but not technically incorrect to give a frequency response without a tolerance (e.g. +/- 3db).
@craigthom I’d delete my now redundant comment that I slowwwly typed whilst watching TV. I promise it was composed not seeing yours - who would be so silly? But I’m sleepy. Goodnight.
Yet another 3-watt speaker I must have 20 from meh they just change shapes the best one was the large Go Groove think it was 20 bucks and is loud as hell with more than decent bass and sound think it’s 12 watts What was your favorite cheapy speaker performance wise you purchased at Meh?
@mellowirishgent I like the BEM ones with the charging base. Or did they come from Morningsave? And the Banana Boat ones are great for ooblek. Come to think of it I have probably bought at least 30 speakers from Meh and the only one I use regularly is a JBL mini. I have a few in my Goodwill box right now.
Aw c’mon, the model number is way better than the name, because it looks like “sphere ox”, which is reminiscent of the joke about physicists (“I have the solution, but it only works in the case of spherical cows in a vacuum.”)
I saw these yesterday, but decided not to buy them, but today I thought, “Maybe,… its because I dont have any balls,” so,… I’m buying them today!! + I bought two pups a while back thinking, “These will look real Cute!” They’re not stereo, one cancels the other out, ergo, “These look real Stupid!”
Stereophonic High Fidelity anyone? I have way too many Bluetooth speakers and none from here. I have the big Bose Soundlink III, a Bose Mini Soundlink, a Bose Mini Soundlink II, a Cambridge Sound Works Oontz Angle 3, a Victrola Bluetooth wall speaker in wood and lights up like a jukebox. My two newest Martian watches play music and calls by Bluetooth, then our three Jabra Cruisers with FM that are being eliminated as we buy new cars, one already with car Bluetooth audio built in.
But none of them have stereo separation. I am getting separation anxiety now. Maybe I should get them? What do I do?
I was going to paint my two front teeth blue, but realized blue teeth isn’t the same thing as Bluetooth. Even a blue tooth isn’t the same.
I once bought something from here and they were great, our first two Martian smart watches for 20 bucks each. They connect via Bluetooth and vibrate when a call is coming in and caller ID scrolls along the bottom, and gave us scrolling text messages.
I even have Bluetooth headphones: one on ear, one over ear, as well as wireless ear buds.
Oh! Wait! They are coming with my medication and I have to go back to my room! They don’t allow patients to use the nursing station computer to connect to the your dimension. I must think fast and buy them or not,
OMG!
I just checked and my mouth is infested with Spirochetes as well as Fusiform bacteria!
I found it on a subversive website that seems to be a Wiccan devolution here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oral_microbiology
Ya, after a couple/five min figuring out the less than perfect instructions (and their web had even worse-less detail )
However I am so enjoying these speakers (even over my $250 jambox)
so after playing around a bit, pair one speaker, turn on second (auto pairs to first speaker ))) and has the best stereo effect since Alan Dower Blumlein pioneered the idea of stereo recording. I had forgotten how good real stereo effects are!!! I have a Bose and the Parrot Ziks and the stereo separation on these are the best!!! I would buy any you dont need or care for!!

Where am I supposed to put my phone???
@norman8Don’t put it in the mop bucket; that didn’ t work for me, or my iphone!!
Don’t have any more room in my house for additional speakers.
@cengland0 garage?
@Thumperchick Thanks for that suggestion but with my hoarder tendencies, my garage is full too. It’s hard to park the car.
Living in Florida, I really miss not having a basement. It would allow me to hoard more crap.
Looks like balls
@Brasssong thank god i wasn’t the only one thinking something naughty.

If they’d been any good, Google would ask if you meant “Sphereo” when you type banana.

Inductive charging uses an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between two objects through electromagnetic induction… WHY ARE THERE CONDUCTIVE POINTS???
@rileyper those are the LEDs. These things light up on the bottom. Why is this feature not listed?
@rileyper @michaelahess @44R0N7 @ColeSloth @Squic @radi0j0hn Changed it out to “wireless” instead of inductive.
@rileyper
Inductive:Conductive::Potato:Tomato
@rileyper This made me think of one of my favorite Amazon reviews from someone who thought RTFM was stupid for a toothbrush and didn’t understand how inductive charging works.
I feel like they would roll under the couch and become lost forever
I think this would solve @cengland0 's problem above
I was reminded recently that Moxie has more caffeine than expected.
That doesn’t appear to be inductive, merely indicative of poor product research.
Time for bed now
This is exactly the price I’d pay for a Sphero!
“with Inductive Charging Base” Are you sure? It looks like it has contacts and the box says nothing about inductive charging. However I’m too lazy to actually look up the item with google right now to find out for sure.
@44R0N7
Yeah this is not inductive charging at all. WTF, meh?
@44R0N7 This is a common Meh effort to redefine “inductive” to mean “you don’t have to insert a plug”.
How is it an inductive charger when the copper contacts have to directly touch eachother to charge?
Do they double as Chinese Meditation Balls?
/image baoding balls
@kylar ummmm…
@kylar If you turn them up loud, ben wa
I do not think ‘inductive charging base’ means what you think it means. I mean, ‘charging base’ absolutely, but those are some pretty well exposed charging pins. I mean, unless the base itself takes a charge wirelessly?
I mean, if that’s the case, that sounds silly enough that I -need- it.
This design has been around for a while. I think it charges with contacts like a cordless phone.
what good are stereo speakers that have to be pointed up? They look like they were designed by BenWa…
O joy. Done!
And it looks like it’s $20 a PAIR at Amazon…
@MrJazz It’s $40 a pair @ Amazon, and you don’t get a fancy wireless charging base
If they were $10…a big maybe. $20, Gnite
I’m starting a movement here and now to refer to these chargers based on conductive contacts as “deductive chargers” to differentiate them from real inductive chargers.
Who’s with me?
No Bass?
Moxie!!!
Shout out New England!
@mfladd Always though Moxie tasted like liquid dust…now I’m going to have to look up gentian root…damn!
@margot Moxie always reminded me of Listerine. The old yellow kind, not the new minty blue or green kinds.
They have “improved” the flavor over the years (made it sweeter) but I’m told that sugar-free Moxie tastes more like the Moxie of my youth.
I think Meh got wireless and inductive charging confused, unless they charge by Bluetooth.
@hchavers Yeah, swapped it for wireless now.
Speaker dock Friday has become inductive charging speaker Thursday.
@hchavers doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
I also really think a Sphero that plays music through Bluetooth would be a great thing. Potentially greater than the sum of its parts.
@djslack Yes, especially for songs with a rolling bass.
Umm “similar” for price comparison isn’t “similar” for reviews of sound…
@Kidsandliz the reviews matched our feedback from the sound test. Besides, I bet these all come from the same factory
@troy would have been helpful if you had stated that where you had “similar”…

@2many2no came here to post the same thing.
Notice the lack of the (respectable company) rolloff spec. No “+/- 3 dB” or similar.
The bottom end of that frequency response curve must fall off like a cliff, guessing somewhere in the area of 100 Hz or higher.
@craigthom I’d delete my now redundant comment that I slowwwly typed whilst watching TV. I promise it was composed not seeing yours - who would be so silly? But I’m sleepy. Goodnight.
@craigthom @2many2no Fair enough. How about 20Hz to 20KHz +/- 90dB?
Power rating: 3W? My old mother in law screams louder than that.
/giphy scream
Hope these are better than Spireo Agnew

**Lame attempt at humor. But, I do laugh at my own jokes.
@Kevfin You get a star for trying.

@mellowirishgent See below.
@sammydog01 is the dancing robot in the box to at least entertain the other ones?
@RiotDemon Not yet but it’s heading there. Probably. I have a hard time getting rid of stuff. OK probably not.
@sammydog01 jbl mini i use every day paid 16 on another site
Aw c’mon, the model number is way better than the name, because it looks like “sphere ox”, which is reminiscent of the joke about physicists (“I have the solution, but it only works in the case of spherical cows in a vacuum.”)
The link to Mad Moxxi in the copy appears to have been botched in a confused attempt to link to the poll:
Moxie tastes like liquid ass…
@Bumplepimp er… How would you know?
Moxie is definitely an acquired taste. Fortunately I’ve acquired it and look forward to more next time I’m back in New Hampshire.
How many of you have bought moxxi instead?
I saw these yesterday, but decided not to buy them, but today I thought, “Maybe,… its because I dont have any balls,” so,… I’m buying them today!! + I bought two pups a while back thinking, “These will look real Cute!” They’re not stereo, one cancels the other out, ergo, “These look real Stupid!”
@decoratedwarvet Wait, did you say puppies? Photo?
@sammydog01 I agree! @decoratedwarvet you can’t just say puppy and not show a picture!
You need to bring these back, meh:
Jam Splash Shower Speaker
@joelmw Just look at the reviews–two of which you wrote, you repetitive twit.
But seriously, everyone else should see how pleasantly surprised so many of us were.
Pulled the trigger only to break my Meh cherry. Now waiting anxiously at my mailbox to be disappointed. Thanks for giving my life purpose Meh!
@Phatlipp33 Take a bottle of water with you. Shipping may take a bit.

As a 3/4 gay man, I think they could have sold more if they painted them rainbowy and called them “Queero”.
I would rather have a spirograph than this, but this, than a spirochete.
OMG!
I just checked and my mouth is infested with Spirochetes as well as Fusiform bacteria!

@RV
Sorry to hear that.
What does that have to do with this item though?
Is anyone not able to have both speakers work at the same time? Every time I turn one on the other one turns off.
@mbvasil75 I have both working at the same time.
Ya, after a couple/five min figuring out the less than perfect instructions (and their web had even worse-less detail )

@Dubhlaine I noticed that THEY ARE LOUD.
I had to go get a magnifying glass to read the instructions.
Pretty good deal
This was the best
