So, our resident SPAMMER makes the Community Banner? WTF?
4I see our resident spammer who posts almost everyday in Chinese was awarded a prominent spot on the Our Community banner. Apparently no one can figure out how to stop the jerk from posting! I suggested using a waiting period for new folks who join to avoid these spammers but guess no one thought it was a good idea. A snapshot of the idiot’s post is below for reference.

Spammer’s post that got “Front Page” exposure:
Zapped now, but this was a different spammer.
@narfcake But his friend has now posted.
@narfcake @yakkoTDI 1 down, 1 billion more to go.
Maybe a tariff on posts from China?
@narfcake @pmarin @yakkoTDI

@narfcake @pmarin @yakkoTDI Except we’ll end up paying for it… somehow. Revenge of the IRKs? (filled with Chinese-made goods)
The choices of banner post are automated. The code apparently hasn’t been optimized to disallow ones with titles containing Chinese characters. It may be more of an expense to include that feature than it’s deemed to be worth.
@werehatrack a blanket ban on Chinese characters is a wild suggestion. It is absolutely not hard given they occupy a unique Unicode range. This is not the way.
@mschuette @werehatrack A gentler approach would be to flag/block/de-feature posts based on a certain percentage of CJK characters, in case a legitimate person wants to put something within their otherwise-English message.
Extra checking to see how long the user has been around (and/or how many other posts they’ve made) would be interesting, but probably unnecessary.
