Smoothie Recipes
5So anyone have any favored recipes for smoothies? I bought a vitamix last year and have been going to town on the regular spinach and kale smoothies but want to branch out into some other stuff.
Anyone have any they like? Shake, smoothie, whatever.
This is really all I've done though I do like this a lot:
1 banana
large handful of spinach
small handful of kale
handful of frozen strawberries
small handful of frozen blueberries
cup of water and a few ice cubes

I just really wanted to break the 0:0 on this post.
I love all of the things you put in your smoothie, but I would not, could not have them together. I will say that chia seeds (especially chia gel version) will help you stay hydrated all day and can add a bit of fiber.
@Thumperchick lol Apparently you're the magic touch! BTW in thee recipe I posted you really taste nothing but the fruit. It's why I like it. I actually don't care much for spinich, even less for Kale. It's about the only way I can get a bunch of it
@Bingo
Anything with pineapple. Pineapple seems to cover just about any other taste in a smoothie.
Our Blendtec gets used multiple times a day.
Replace the water with almond milk and yogurt or keifr and you have what we have(almost) every day. Try adding pomegranate.
We typically do 2 a day. In the mornings a favorite is banana, mango, pineapple, strawberry and kefir. Sometimes we add a fig, or oranges or whatever.
Costco is great for frozen fruit BTW.
I usually put 20-30 grams of whey protein in my morning smoothie along with plain greek yogurt, assorted fruit, assorted greens, flax seed, nut butter, and oatmeal. Sometimes I add avocado to make it more filling. It replaces my breakfast and helps give the protein I need after the morning workout. This is all in preparation for a summer spent primarily on the beach. I'm getting buff, its gunna be hawt.
@RedHot it's gonna be... red hot?
I usually just throw in whatever misc fruit I have in my kitchen. Gotta have a banana for the texture though.
Just not as good without the banana.
My personal favorite is: one medium orange, peeled + one cup of peach yogurt + one small banana + ice. Maybe add a little liquid (almond milk, apple juice, whatever) if it is too thick. Love the Vitamix!
I always add a drop or two of real vanilla to smoothies. Yum.
Yogurt, always add yogurt. Can it even be called a smoothie without?
Mine always start with plain homemade yogurt as a base + fruit (usually strawberry or raspberry or blueberry, or sometimes all) + frozen banana + milk + a little sugar + a handful of icecubes.
@luvche21 Kefir.
@ThatsHeadly Kefir's good too, but I'm definitely more of a yogurt fan.
2 apples, cored
2 bananas
1 lime or lemon, juiced or skinned and thrown in
1/2 inch fresh ginger, peeled
1 cup apple cider
1 cup ice
