Alternatively, I’m not going to wait to buy the Irk while spending more than I should only for the IRK to sell out before I reach $100. They should allow 24 hour cancel period for the IRK in case you don’t reach $100.

I really can’t justify purchasing a $50 IRK. I rarely if ever spend anything during a Mehrathon. They would have to have some really killer deals for me to spend over a $100 but… c’mon… It’s meh. You know it’s gonna be mediocre deals at best.
@ironcheftoni aren’t the power jump things like $30? At $50 an IRK, it would be cheaper to just by the jump starter. (The portable jump starters, by the way, are amazing. Can’t speak to the brands offered hereabouts, but I’ve bought at least 4 from Amazon for self, family, and friends. )
@lordbowen I couldn’t get a BOC and tried and tried . Endless disappointment for me - even had it in my cart a couple of times and yanked from cart when I was checking out.
Well, this makes it way simpler than a regular Mehrathon - I’m not going to stay up and check because I just can’t imagine myself wanting to spend $100 on the things that are going to come up.

I haven’t managed to purchase a single BOC, fuku or IRK over the last 15 years. I’m in for one. It might be entirely trash, I might entirely regret pulling the trigger for $50, but at least I’ve finally done it.
I don’t think I managed to buy a single IRK or BOC this year. So instead of saving that money, I wasted it on this one. That’s legitimate justification, right?
@ptseng I too have NEVER EVER EVER been able to snag an IRK or BOC. I think I have a version 1.0 woot hat but never anything more interesting or precious than that (and I love my precious woot hat). The chance to snag an IRK is too good to pass up. I hope it’s full of crap and that I instantly regret it.
@IndifferentDude In a regular irk as long as you click at least once you don’t loose your streak. I know that from multiple first hand experiences of deciding to sleep or couldn’t be on meh during the day… like today. I am driving about 500 miles today (and about 600 tomorrow).
Honestly the quality of IRKs has been mostly decent, sometimes shitty, often enough well over $50 worth. Sure, I’ll buy a couple of things I might have been less sure of otherwise. I’m in.

I think they charging crazy prices for IRKs now because they still haven’t dug themselves out of debt after the initial experiment where they sent everyone Amazon gift cards.
I am in. I looked at it this way, I can wrap it up when it arrives and it can be a Christmas gift from my hubbie. I normally just buy something I have had my eye on from him but this way, I will be surprised by what it is. I will even try not to hold it against him if he ends up having bought me $50 worth of screen protectors.

@Kidsandliz I remember when bags of crap were $3 plus $5 shipping. (If qty=3) Then $10. Then $10 plus tax. Then the Fukos were $5. Then $5 plus tax. Then $10 plus tax. Now they do dumb promotions where the same crap can be like $100 with bonus coupons or spend $150 and you get $50 off.
I feel like this is a departure from the random crap experience. Similar to the shady practice of pay-to-win scheme of video games; gives the upper hand to people willing/able to pay more which takes the fun out of it.

In the last three years I’ve placed four orders totaling $124.13 (tax and shipping included), an average of $31.03 per order.
I don’t regret any of those purchases (well, maybe it’s too soon to say for the KIND bars). All of them are in regular use, and still are to this day because I haven’t run out of KIND bars yet. But for 1,092 days out of 1,096, I didn’t buy anything.
This IRK would make it five orders for $183.69 — assuming everything in the IRK is taxable — an average of $36.74. So the average goes up.
What are the odds that a $59.56 IRK is gonna be worth $36.74 to me, never mind $59.56?
Answer: Trick question! I never took statistics in school, so I have no fucking clue. But my totally uninformed calculation is 0.4%, because I don’t think they have any TVs left to toss in — just stuff they put on sale recently that I didn’t buy. (Or worse, it’ll be stuff I didn’t buy plus three boxes of KIND bars.)
Interestingly, the order immediately prior to the last three years was an IRK — the only one I ever scored. I think I got one useful item out of it, but it was totally worth the $15.
@TheFLP More likely: One thing you didn’t buy (in the wrong size, if applicable) plus two Traditional Useless IRK Items (TrackRs, iPhone 6 cases, etc), probably plus an IRK bag, and almost inevitably, three items of no particular value to anyone (hence their relegation to the IRKs). Any Good Stuff is entirely accidental.
I’ve never been able to get an IRK over the years. Does anyone know if this SideDeal includes the coupon? It’s not in the description so I may have answered my own question.
@Digital_Warrior They catch up to it later, according to one of the staffers’ comments. I guess they didn’t trust automation to be able to correctly detect when somebody tried to game the system.

I was a bit bummed when the ukelele came up because I bought it on Sidedeal just days ago, but they’re only selling black and purple here, and I’d still need to buy another $60 worth of stuff - so I guess I’m okay with it.
@Kyeh The mahogany is nice, too bad it was sold out before the Mehrathon. I didn’t love the black, so i ended up getting purple, in the hopes that it’s as dark as it looked in the photo. I don’t think I’d like it as much if it were bright purple, that would definitely look weird, i think. I’d prob have to learn a few Prince songs to make it seem intentional! I checked the Amazon listing that was linked on the product page & my favorite one is the “tattoo” version, but of course they wouldn’t let those go to Meh. It’s about $10 more than the already-inflated Amazon price of our colors. Yeah, hard pass.
This seems to be more of an experiment in shopper psychology. By increasing the price of an irk to $50, our brains feel like there’s more value to it even though we know better. By purchasing $100 in product on meh, you get a $50 coupon. In reality, it’s a $10 coupon because that’s how much an irk actually costs currently. I wonder if their stats would show that if they had increased the price of an irk to $100 with $100 coupon, they would get more overall sales because we would think we’re getting half off.
I wonder how many people who, by the end of the day, only managed to spend $80 on other stuff will be forced to spend an extra $20 on the last item in the mehrathon because at that point you are forced to spend 20 to save 50.
@jaybird That really depends on how much your state charges in taxes. Since we only get back the $50 and not the tax, doubling the price also doubles the tax. This is one of those times I definitely prefer to pay less and get back less. I’ll pay the tax on $50 to get a $10 Irk, but at the price point where the tax goes above $10 …
OK, I’m in. I bought a 99.99 Ninja pressure cooker/air fryer and a $50 IRK. Hope the IRK isn’t totally regrettable or my wife may make me regret it more. But I guess I’m getting the IRK for free “after rebate” so we’ll see. Ooh…maybe a Tacklife T6 Jumper Battery, that would be great because my kid has killed his battery at least 3 times in the last few months by “charging his phone” (yeah, right). It would save me the 40 mile trips that I’ve had to make to jump start his rig. I don’t know what that kid is doing and probably don’t want to know.

So does the total of your purchase need to be more than $100 or does the item itself need to be over $100? I bought an item for ~$90 and the total, with tax and shipping, was over $100…
@kserwatka 99.99 total before tax and shipping is my understanding. you can buy 3 $50 Irks but can only get 1 $50 credit. coupon codes that are valid at sidedeal work but not the “classic” vmp code but it does cover the shipping with no code.

@sammydog01 This time around, at $50 each, the system was giving buyers the choice to get up to three. I think it was a case of “You asked for it; at this price, you got it.” In the old days of the $5 price, it was a nominal loss leader (usually) with no option for multiples.

Bought an IRK last night and here I sit with a grand total of 99.96 so far.
Got 3 bidets @19.99 each (which I both wanted and needed) and a Uke @39.99 (which I wanted, but did not need) since I have 5 already. But I couldn’t resist and I like giving gifts of music, so it will find a home.
So yeah…I’m .03 off. I am not a fan of the .99 cent pricing model. Crossing my fingers for something else I want, or something very, very cheap.

@Kyeh I don’t really play…but I wish I did! My kids play though. I’ve fooled around on it a little, and the simple chords aren’t to bad to learn. Learning the strumming patterns takes some concentration (at least for my 50+ year old brain ).
I’m so glad you got one! They really are such a fun little instrument to play! I love that they’re easy to travel with, and you can do a TON of songs with just learning 4 basic chords. You will love it, I’m sure!

@k4evryng@Kyeh my wife doesn’t get guitar, she thinks it’s too complicated. I got her a uke similar to this a few years back (pretty sure it was from Meh as well) and it is still one of her favorite things ever. Somehow 4 strings for 4 fingers makes it much easier to grasp, and she’s pretty good with it now.
There are tons of YouTube tutorials and lots of uke tab websites out there too so you can learn just about anything just by searching.

If you/someone has small hands, and you want to play guitar, get a guitar that’s made for your hand/body size. (Good ones exist).
My error in guitar-playing was trying to gain any competence, while having constant stabbing neck and shoulder pain.
Because my hands were to small for the otherwise fine instrument I was practicing on. And so I had to contort my left arm/wrist/hand to make any chords.
The pain just got worse after a year, so I gave up. At the time I didn’t know that I just didn’t “fit” that guitar.
So if someone who is in the Ink for IRKs club spends a hundred buck in the Mehrathon, can they get the $50 off a Side Deal IRK too, or is the free one they already qualify for the only one that can be discounted?

I ended up caving and spent $106.95 before taxes. Figured I already spent $50 on the IRK… which I’m going to regift as my Dad really wants one ever since I gave my mom a jacket that she loves from one, and I spent $39.98 on other things. Soooo… was almost to that $99.99 threshold kinda. So he gets an IRK, I get some pillows, a jumper, pet wipes (which ironically I need… smelly cats) and a few other things.

My guess is that they put an authorization on your credit card/debit card for the $50 but will not submit it for payment to their merchant bank if you bought $99.99 worth of stuff on meh.
The authorization will fall off your credit/debit account in about 10 days automatically and the funds will become available for new purchases when the authorization is gone. Think of it like a “hold” on your money for 10 days while it’s pending the completed transaction.

I’d people actually wanted more than $100 in purchases from the Mehrathon and then a refunded-price $50 IRK from Sidedeal, Meg should have arranged for IRKs not to sell out. For those costumers they could afford a few more IRKs.
It seems very unfair that people should complete qualifying purchases on Meh and then lately discover Sidedeal had run out of IRKs just before the customer was ready to purchase.
And unfair that people might complete MEH purchases just before the end of the Meh-rathon, snd then not have sufficient time to make an IRK purchase before midnight eastern.
So …
Don’t run out of $50 iRKs.
And …
extend the IRK /buy time-window for 20 extra minutes for those folk, or offer them some other sort of purchase workaround.
(People who make over $100 in MEH purchases during the sales event could be given a special purchase code and purchase URL after completing MEH checkout.
Or given a code and an instructions to contact Mercatalyst CS to complete the IRK purchase. Or something)
@f00l the last deal ran for an hour before the clock ran out. Folks had at least that amount of time to decide on purchases and then go buy the IRK.
That being said, if you wanted an IRK, buy it and then decide if you want to buy $100 worth of stuff on meh to get the discount. I paid for one and still didn’t even buy enough between the irk and the meh-rathon to spend even $100 total. so… I guess i spent $50 on an irk (again )

They had the irks selling all night and day. And they even sent out the email explaining what was happening at like midnight (something they never do for a mehathons). If you didn’t check the site till late at night that was on you. I feel the whole situation was very fair. Yes it was a gamble, do you buy the irk or try and find $100 worth of stuff to buy and then hope the irk was still available? It was obviously their intention to boost their sales. I’m sorry you bought $100 worth of stuff and then the irks were sold out (but they do sell out all the time) but they do give you an hour after purchasing to cancel your order.
I spent 50 on an IRK because that’s really the only way I would ever get one, I’ve tried dozens of times and never gotten one. So, I guess I will see how bad my regret is. It shipped today. I hope at least I get a Meh bag.
my charges both went through (not pending) I also bought the standing desk and the IRK - I would have expected the $50 to come off the standing desk price but both went through full price

@darkinc it’ll be bigger and heavier than that when it gets there. They expand in transit, attracting stuff out of dumpsters along the way. I’ve never found out exactly how they make that happen.
I know my credit went through because I setup text alerts to notify me if any charges or credits appear from online stores. Got the alert yesterday.
I checked with my bank and the credit doesn’t appear online. There is no doubt that it went through though just because of the alert. I believe it may take a day or so before it will appear online because the alert comes directly from Visa – not from my bank.
I am watching now as my sidedeal purchase of $53 posted (11/29) as well as the $153(also posted 11/29) I spent on Meh. No refund as of yet today Dec 1.
@derek17j I inquired and got a response within 24 hours. I was told that my refund was issued but depending on the bank it can take a while for the refund to appear. Indeed, my refund appeared shortly after.

@bas875 some nerd wrote a program for the trackers and apparently they will work again. Don’t remember what it is called but it has been posted more than once. I have several boxes of the things that either came by by the box or individually. Haven’t gotten as far as tracking it down to see mostly because I don’t need them and for the most part don’t put apps on my phone.
@padragon get hold of support for your bag. Well you could put up an ebay listing to sell them LOL Actually with the holidays coming up if you post them online you might be able to sell a bunch cheap. Heck sell them for a dollar each and you will make back the cost of the irk and then some.

My refund posted, and my tracking says delivery today… but… It left TX 4 days ago and there has been no update. So even if it gets to MA this weekend it wont get to USPS for a couple days after that. Fingers crossed for Tuesday.

The hint that a $50 irk would be “free” by refunding its cost (if you bought almost $100 dollars of mehathon meh stuff on sale at meh), I felt guaranteed you that you’d get a totally regretful irk. Thus, I didn’t “bite” on that offer that they would refund the $50 cost of the irk on side deal if I spent almost $100 on meh stuff selling on meh. I too miss the old days were you could actually get neat stuff in the old fukoburro bags now named irk.
Every mehrathon there are people can’t buy an irk because of slow connections, slow equipment, sloth-like reflexes, or lack of the ability to tell bread from cake. And some of them are good customers.
Every mehrathon there are people who buy irks that buy nothing else at Meh and are a huge negative on the bottom line.
So it looks like this time Meh decided to reward people for keeping them in business. And some people thought spending $50 on something that would most likely be crap was a super duper idea.

I got a travel steamer/iron that had been opened, three trackr tracking tags, a pack of playing cards, a kids craft kit and a bag. Kind of disappointing, but I’ve gotten better instant regret bags before that make up for this one.
So, I’m okay with getting some pretty lame stuff in my IRKs but I think I draw the line at receiving an actual fire hazard and I think FedEx would probably take issue with it as well.
@magnuspraeda Acquaintances in the tech end relate that batteries which are preparing to torch out are fully charged and otherwise intact units. Inflated polymer flat-packs like that are primarily just a physical hazard to the rest of the device via breaking things inside. I’ve seen one polymer flat-pack go barbecue, but that was an almost-new Samsung Note of a model that got recalled due to its battery tending to do that. It gave no warning. One second, the phone was in use on a table in a Starbucks, the next it was literally breaking out in flames from the edges. The owner was just glad that it hadn’t been in her usual storage spot for it when it went all China Syndrome.
Wife ordered instant regret, but forgot to order anything else. Bag will cost me more just to throw out. $54 waste of money time to stay off of MEH for 54 days and save money. Back to WOOT and AMAZON. I only have 387 orders on AMAZON this year at least they don’t send junk and when they do it goes back.

There has never been a guarantee you’re getting anything worth having, and there was absolutely no guarantee that would change just because there was a $50 price tag. It was a great marketing campaign promo to get you to buy something during the Mehrathon. They’re a business and their goal is to make money. They owe you nothing and it looks like they made good on that promise
This was by far the biggest waste of money, hope and fun I have had. Also bought one of the mystery boxes through morning save, and that one was horrible enough to almost scare me away from this $50 IRK… I should have trusted that.
I figured since it was so much more than normal, it would be in some way worth it. holy shit, not even close.
IRKs and BOC’s were always, at the very least fun. you got some random stuff, sometimes goofy, sometimes awesome. This one is literal junk they obviously couldnt move any other way. 3 products in boxes smashed beyond reason, obviously they couldnt actually include these in orders, so they were dumped on me. one of them was ear buds i bought a couple years ago. so left over, old garbage laying around the warehouse.
VERY disappointed. There wasnt anything about it that was vaguely redeeming. Its a shame to see mediocre turning into this.

I got my IRK and am not IRKed at all! There was an inspection process! First Inspector Cal. She felt the box was safe and allowed me to open it.

Well, I won’t complain even though I got nothing I can use. There was a combo Wireless Phone Charge/Coffee Mug warmer (I don’t drink coffee) and have other wireless chargers. I received two iPhone 8 cases (I use Samsung), a King Size set of Satin Sheets in a lovely holiday red (I have a Queen bed). Also on the adult side, got a Satin Robe in holiday green, with some lacy ladies undergarments and while it’s not something I would wear, my Wife was having nothing of it. So, it was what it was and I didn’t have my hopes up. There was definitely $50 worth of items in there, just not items I can use. So off to Goodwill!!

When I saw the $50 irk bag pop up, that was it for me. Normally during these Mehrathons, I would check every few minutes waiting for a $5 irk to come up, and would invariably make a few purchases during the day in the process. Well the good news is that I don’t have to check for the rest of the day resulting in no purchases - YAY! I’m saving $ now. Thank you MEH!

Hello all. I’m a long-time lurker, first-timer IRKer. Hoping for a bandolier of carrots!
In the last three years I’ve placed four orders totaling $124.13 (tax and shipping included), an average of $31.03 per order.
I don’t regret any of those purchases (well, maybe it’s too soon to say for the KIND bars). All of them are in regular use, and still are to this day because I haven’t run out of KIND bars yet. But for 1,092 days out of 1,096, I didn’t buy anything.
This IRK would make it five orders for $183.69 — assuming everything in the IRK is taxable — an average of $36.74. So the average goes up.
What are the odds that a $59.56 IRK is gonna be worth $36.74 to me, never mind $59.56?
Answer: Trick question! I never took statistics in school, so I have no fucking clue.
But my totally uninformed calculation is 0.4%, because I don’t think they have any TVs left to toss in — just stuff they put on sale recently that I didn’t buy. (Or worse, it’ll be stuff I didn’t buy plus three boxes of KIND bars.)
Interestingly, the order immediately prior to the last three years was an IRK — the only one I ever scored. I think I got one useful item out of it, but it was totally worth the $15.
@TheFLP More likely: One thing you didn’t buy (in the wrong size, if applicable) plus two Traditional Useless IRK Items (TrackRs, iPhone 6 cases, etc), probably plus an IRK bag, and almost inevitably, three items of no particular value to anyone (hence their relegation to the IRKs). Any Good Stuff is entirely accidental.
I’ve never been able to get an IRK over the years. Does anyone know if this SideDeal includes the coupon? It’s not in the description so I may have answered my own question.

I checked the Amazon listing that was linked on the product page & my favorite one is the “tattoo” version, but of course they wouldn’t let those go to Meh. It’s about $10 more than the already-inflated Amazon price of our colors. Yeah, hard pass.
This seems to be more of an experiment in shopper psychology. By increasing the price of an irk to $50, our brains feel like there’s more value to it even though we know better. By purchasing $100 in product on meh, you get a $50 coupon. In reality, it’s a $10 coupon because that’s how much an irk actually costs currently. I wonder if their stats would show that if they had increased the price of an irk to $100 with $100 coupon, they would get more overall sales because we would think we’re getting half off.
I wonder how many people who, by the end of the day, only managed to spend $80 on other stuff will be forced to spend an extra $20 on the last item in the mehrathon because at that point you are forced to spend 20 to save 50.

@jaybird That really depends on how much your state charges in taxes. Since we only get back the $50 and not the tax, doubling the price also doubles the tax. This is one of those times I definitely prefer to pay less and get back less. I’ll pay the tax on $50 to get a $10 Irk, but at the price point where the tax goes above $10 …

OK, I’m in. I bought a 99.99 Ninja pressure cooker/air fryer and a $50 IRK. Hope the IRK isn’t totally regrettable or my wife may make me regret it more. But I guess I’m getting the IRK for free “after rebate” so we’ll see. Ooh…maybe a Tacklife T6 Jumper Battery, that would be great because my kid has killed his battery at least 3 times in the last few months by “charging his phone” (yeah, right). Bought an IRK last night and here I sit with a grand total of 99.96 so far.
Got 3 bidets @19.99 each (which I both wanted and needed) and a Uke @39.99 (which I wanted, but did not need) since I have 5 already. But I couldn’t resist and I like giving gifts of music, so it will find a home.
So yeah…I’m .03 off. I am not a fan of the .99 cent pricing model. Crossing my fingers for something else I want, or something very, very cheap.

My kids play though. I’ve fooled around on it a little, and the simple chords aren’t to bad to learn. Learning the strumming patterns takes some concentration (at least for my 50+ year old brain

@k4evryng @Kyeh my wife doesn’t get guitar, she thinks it’s too complicated. I got her a uke similar to this a few years back (pretty sure it was from Meh as well) and it is still one of her favorite things ever. Somehow 4 strings for 4 fingers makes it much easier to grasp, and she’s pretty good with it now.
There are tons of YouTube tutorials and lots of uke tab websites out there too so you can learn just about anything just by searching.

If you/someone has small hands, and you want to play guitar, get a guitar that’s made for your hand/body size. (Good ones exist).
My error in guitar-playing was trying to gain any competence, while having constant stabbing neck and shoulder pain.
Because my hands were to small for the otherwise fine instrument I was practicing on. And so I had to contort my left arm/wrist/hand to make any chords.
The pain just got worse after a year, so I gave up. At the time I didn’t know that I just didn’t “fit” that guitar.
Never bought another one to try again. Sigh.

Figured I already spent $50 on the IRK… which I’m going to regift as my Dad really wants one ever since I gave my mom a jacket that she loves from one, and I spent $39.98 on other things. My guess is that they put an authorization on your credit card/debit card for the $50 but will not submit it for payment to their merchant bank if you bought $99.99 worth of stuff on meh.
The authorization will fall off your credit/debit account in about 10 days automatically and the funds will become available for new purchases when the authorization is gone. Think of it like a “hold” on your money for 10 days while it’s pending the completed transaction.

I’d people actually wanted more than $100 in purchases from the Mehrathon and then a refunded-price $50 IRK from Sidedeal, Meg should have arranged for IRKs not to sell out. For those costumers they could afford a few more IRKs.
It seems very unfair that people should complete qualifying purchases on Meh and then lately discover Sidedeal had run out of IRKs just before the customer was ready to purchase.
And unfair that people might complete MEH purchases just before the end of the Meh-rathon, snd then not have sufficient time to make an IRK purchase before midnight eastern.
So …
Don’t run out of $50 iRKs.
And …
extend the IRK /buy time-window for 20 extra minutes for those folk, or offer them some other sort of purchase workaround.
(People who make over $100 in MEH purchases during the sales event could be given a special purchase code and purchase URL after completing MEH checkout.
Or given a code and an instructions to contact Mercatalyst CS to complete the IRK purchase. Or something)

They had the irks selling all night and day. And they even sent out the email explaining what was happening at like midnight (something they never do for a mehathons). If you didn’t check the site till late at night that was on you. I feel the whole situation was very fair. Yes it was a gamble, do you buy the irk or try and find $100 worth of stuff to buy and then hope the irk was still available? It was obviously their intention to boost their sales. I’m sorry you bought $100 worth of stuff and then the irks were sold out (but they do sell out all the time) but they do give you an hour after purchasing to cancel your order.
I spent 50 on an IRK because that’s really the only way I would ever get one, I’ve tried dozens of times and never gotten one. So, I guess I will see how bad my regret is. It shipped today. I hope at least I get a Meh bag.

I checked with my bank and the credit doesn’t appear online. There is no doubt that it went through though just because of the alert. I believe it may take a day or so before it will appear online because the alert comes directly from Visa – not from my bank.

The hint that a $50 irk would be “free” by refunding its cost (if you bought almost $100 dollars of mehathon meh stuff on sale at meh), I felt guaranteed you that you’d get a totally regretful irk. Thus, I didn’t “bite” on that offer that they would refund the $50 cost of the irk on side deal if I spent almost $100 on meh stuff selling on meh. I too miss the old days were you could actually get neat stuff in the old fukoburro bags now named irk.
Every mehrathon there are people can’t buy an irk because of slow connections, slow equipment, sloth-like reflexes, or lack of the ability to tell bread from cake. And some of them are good customers.
Every mehrathon there are people who buy irks that buy nothing else at Meh and are a huge negative on the bottom line.
So it looks like this time Meh decided to reward people for keeping them in business. And some people thought spending $50 on something that would most likely be crap was a super duper idea.

Got my irk today. Nothing but useless junk. I expected more considering it was the high ticket price of $50. Needless to say, very disappointed.
This is ridiculous, a broken keyboard, an open diffuser, small girl’s panties and a bottle of crystal light? This is ridiculous, at least give me crap that equals what I paid for. This should be addressed based on any and all previous experiences we all know we might get a ton of useless items, but broken stuff? Come on do better
I got a bunch of frilly boy shorts. I’m a dude. They seem nice but they really lost my loyalty today by not making this even slightly potentially useful to 90% of people. Not funny crap, just crap
I got a travel steamer/iron that had been opened, three trackr tracking tags, a pack of playing cards, a kids craft kit and a bag. Kind of disappointing, but I’ve gotten better instant regret bags before that make up for this one.
So, I’m okay with getting some pretty lame stuff in my IRKs but I think I draw the line at receiving an actual fire hazard and I think FedEx would probably take issue with it as well.

@Kidsandliz I sent Meh/SideDeal an email asking what they expect me to do with this fire hazard but, in the meantime, it’s in a sand pail.
I also haven’t gotten my refund for buying $100 worth of stuff in the Mehrathon so they’ve got some 'splaining to do…
@magnuspraeda Acquaintances in the tech end relate that batteries which are preparing to torch out are fully charged and otherwise intact units. Inflated polymer flat-packs like that are primarily just a physical hazard to the rest of the device via breaking things inside. I’ve seen one polymer flat-pack go barbecue, but that was an almost-new Samsung Note of a model that got recalled due to its battery tending to do that. It gave no warning. One second, the phone was in use on a table in a Starbucks, the next it was literally breaking out in flames from the edges. The owner was just glad that it hadn’t been in her usual storage spot for it when it went all China Syndrome.
Wife ordered instant regret, but forgot to order anything else. Bag will cost me more just to throw out. $54 waste of money time to stay off of MEH for 54 days and save money. Back to WOOT and AMAZON. I only have 387 orders on AMAZON this year at least they don’t send junk and when they do it goes back.

There has never been a guarantee you’re getting anything worth having, and there was absolutely no guarantee that would change just because there was a $50 price tag. It was a great marketing campaign promo to get you to buy something during the Mehrathon. They’re a business and their goal is to make money. They owe you nothing and it looks like they made good on that promise
I was expecting funny garbage, not actually-empty-box in-a-bigger-box garbage. There’s a difference between IRK and just stealing $50.
This was by far the biggest waste of money, hope and fun I have had. Also bought one of the mystery boxes through morning save, and that one was horrible enough to almost scare me away from this $50 IRK… I should have trusted that.
I figured since it was so much more than normal, it would be in some way worth it. holy shit, not even close.
IRKs and BOC’s were always, at the very least fun. you got some random stuff, sometimes goofy, sometimes awesome. This one is literal junk they obviously couldnt move any other way. 3 products in boxes smashed beyond reason, obviously they couldnt actually include these in orders, so they were dumped on me. one of them was ear buds i bought a couple years ago. so left over, old garbage laying around the warehouse.
VERY disappointed. There wasnt anything about it that was vaguely redeeming. Its a shame to see mediocre turning into this.

I got my IRK and am not IRKed at all! There was an inspection process! First Inspector Cal. She felt the box was safe and allowed me to open it.
Then Cal got so excited by the contents that she screamed and I can’t mention what she did next

And don’t be fooled by the name, Cinderella also claimed the box. By the way, we adopted all of our animals and the kitties came named. There were a group of 4 sisters: Bibitty, Bobitty, Boo and Cinderella.

My son immediately stole the fast charger. The screen protector will get donated. And blue is my favorite color and I never got a blue bag, so again, not irked at all!

Well, I won’t complain even though I got nothing I can use. There was a combo Wireless Phone Charge/Coffee Mug warmer (I don’t drink coffee) and have other wireless chargers. I received two iPhone 8 cases (I use Samsung), a King Size set of Satin Sheets in a lovely holiday red (I have a Queen bed). Also on the adult side, got a Satin Robe in holiday green, with some lacy ladies undergarments and while it’s not something I would wear, my Wife was having nothing of it.
So, it was what it was and I didn’t have my hopes up. There was definitely $50 worth of items in there, just not items I can use. So off to Goodwill!!
argh. This was my first ever IRK and VERY disappointed. I got a box of cheap kn95 masks and some white Kathleen Ireland sheets.

I didn’t expect anything worth keeping. But zero chuckles! That was the biggest disappointment.
I remember the two early fukubukuro bags I scored: It wasn’t the stuff worth something, but most importantly you could see that somebody had fun packing it: The t-shirt from the thrift store bargain bin, the weird halo messaging device, the confetti that got everywhere, the action figure from the British TV series I had never heard of, …
This time I didn’t find anything worth taking a picture and by now I can’t even remember what was in the bag. Just sad that I couldn’t buy a little fun…
When I saw the $50 irk bag pop up, that was it for me. Normally during these Mehrathons, I would check every few minutes waiting for a $5 irk to come up, and would invariably make a few purchases during the day in the process. Well the good news is that I don’t have to check for the rest of the day resulting in no purchases - YAY! I’m saving $ now. Thank you MEH!

@duff1462 You too? I already had a case of Trakr Pixels that I picked up years ago - and they were pretty cool when they came out. Helped me out with finding my daughter’s tablet a few times. Now I have two cases. But they discontinued the app two years ago, so these are literally trash. Probably trash full of dead batteries.

Yes, it was absolutely brutal. If they still worked even via just Bluetooth it would’ve been great, but it was quite literally two boxes of crap inside a box. The boxes were labeled from 2017 so they were really buried somewhere.
