@Cerridwyn @sammydog01 Looks like at least the solar flashlight is basically the same price on Amazon (well 99 cents cheaper but Amazon has free shipping so overall it is $4.01 cheaper) so not 50% off, rather roughly 6% off so fake retail price. Not much of a deal unless Amazon is trying to price match mediocre sites and it was higher earlier.

My friend’s mother makes cowboy cookies every once in a while and they’re terrific. If you somehow worked raisins and peanut butter in there you’d have just about every cookie in one but this is close enough.

Ingredients:

Cookie dough
1 cup (that’s 2 sticks) butter, softened but not melted
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs (sit out ahead to reach room temperature)
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Cinnamon sugar topping
3 tablespoons sugar
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

Dough
Preheat oven to 375. Prepare ungreased cookie sheets by lining with bakers parchment (if you’ve never used it, you’ll be surprised how much of a difference it makes).

In the bowl cream together butter and sugar.
Add in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla. Mix until fully incorporated.
With the mixer on low, fold in the flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt.
Using a tablespoon, scoop out rounded balls and place close together on the cookie sheets.

Cinnamon sugar
Mix 3 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and whisk until completely mixed.

Prepare the cookie balls
Roll dough balls in the cinnamon sugar. Place 2 inches apart on your parchment lined baking sheets.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes.

You can prepare your cookie balls in advance and refrigerate for a day or so, or you can freeze them to be cooked at any time.

@sammydog01 @therealjrn Penzey’s used to send catalogs that had all kinds of customer-supplied recipes throughout but they seem to have stopped printing paper catalogs. It looks as though the recipes are now just shared on recipes tab of the website. Unfortunately, I don’t think that includes all of the old recipes. I guess I’d better scan in my “old reliables” so I don’t lose them.

DIY: charcoal briquet in a ziploc and whack with a hammer until powdered. Squirt toothpaste into the bag, mix, cut a corner and squeeze it out like frosting in a piping bag.

@dashcloud Yep, and people swear by it for whitening without bleach/chemicals. My daughter and I both have issues with yellowing (for me it’s coffee and genetics, for her it’s just genetics because she only drinks water and isn’t a candy fiend); whitening toothpaste doesn’t help her and is too harsh for me. So, I figured it was worth a shot.
