I have a couple of mugs that I cycle out each week. Right now, I’m drinking out of my lil pumpkin friend! One of my favorite coworkers from a previous job gave this to me on Dia De Los Muertos as a little celebration gift.
@ordinaryotter Like how am I supposed to walk past them knowing how cute they’d look during winter and holding coffee or hot chocolate? I don’t make the rules, I just know I need them all.
Okay, so I collect mugs (one of my many collections) and I started getting these Pier 1 alphabet mugs several years ago; unfortunately they were on clearance and almost all gone when I discovered them. So I watch for them on Ebay. I have almost all the letters but I’ve never seen the I, O, Q, V, X, Y, or Z. If anyone out there has those I’d love to know what they look like.
(Arranged specifically to appeal to @carl669.)
@blaineg@werehatrack
That was always just a French joke on “castle of the pump”. I guess someone actually decided to use that name for their wine. Sort of like the idea of using Soylent for a food product…
I love bunnies. My mother gave me a mug with bunnies on it when I was maybe 20 years old. I can’t find the mug (although chances are it’s around here somewhere) but found a photo on the internet.
@sammydog01 Reminds me of a shirt that’s no longer in production. The number one question that the sellers got was “Do you have it in children’s sizes?”
@Kyeh@sammydog01 On that one, 99% likely that the blanks were Fruit Heavy, so they’re just the normal industry-standard dimensions with maybe a tad more shrinkage if you dry them too hot than with a Gildan, a Port, or a Hanes. (I’ve handled a lot of Offworld shirts over the years.)
Three of my favorites - the tall mug is usually for beer, but I filled it with milk to make the design more visible, which attracted the attention of my assistant …
@blaineg I wonder which of those pictures is of a prototype? In the first picture, the milliliters are labeled only up to 500, but in the second picture it also has a label at 550.
Actually, looking back at the first one again, I think it’s also missing the top markings on the backside. So I’m leaning toward the first picture being from an earlier model. At least, I think they should have the more markings, so I hope they final version has all the numbers.
@earlyre@Pony Be aware (if you aren’t already) that taking excessive amounts of Vitamin C increases the likelihood of calcium oxalate kidney stones. Fortunately, those are the ones that are easiest to zap with ESWL.
Never did own a Gateway computer on purpose, though. Still some late 1990s nostalgia for those in the know. Thrifted, sat long enough to be marked down to 35 cents – and there was an extra 20% off that particular day.
@werehatrack I should give up on instant cocoa mixes altogether and just make it with the unsweetened powder and milk and sugar, but I get lazy & forget how bad the mixes are.
@narfcake I have a clear glass Apple ‘beer glass’ with handle, and the apple logo etched into the bottom. Won it in a contest around 1982, and I don’t use it much.
I can’t post pictures because my mugs are at work and I’m off this week.
Black with gold design Digital Equipment Corporation (RIP) large mug, a blue glass with white design Digital Equipment Corporation/Wyle distributing. Digital (DEC) was my favorite of all computer companies and I still have VMS workstations on my desk at work and at home.
I also found some cool mugs at Goodwill, including some from Northrup Grumman and Lockheed defense divisions featuring F16 variants and other planes. Also a mug I found at Goodwill here in illannoy from the Walgreens in Las Vegas we used to go to growing up (still had the “Walgreens Agency” sign on it when I last visited years ago, and still had a lunch counter where the soda fountain used to be).
@Kyeh Yeah. I used to be really into homebrewing and when my wife was 5 months pregnant I convinced her to allow me to punch holes in a perfectly good wall in the name of beer. She said ok, and five days later it was finished No sense wasting time… right?
There is unfinished storage on the other side of the wall where my keg fridge is. I drilled holes in that and ran the tubing up and through the wall. Works pretty great.
Although when my daughter was about a year old, we had her swing below the drip tray. One day I was pulling a beer and the keg blew. Spraying beer all over the place. Including my daughter. Please don’t tell my wife about that.
@narfcake You and me both - my oldest daughter will turn 38 next April.
In 1984 I was working a full time job, building a house and dealing with a pregnant wife. Somehow I lived to tell the tale.
@ChadP Ah yes, the patterned glass jar. That takes me back. lol
@ChadP Is that a classic jar or new and just made to look like one?
@ExtraMedium I weirdly have both as options. I think this one is like 15 years old.
@ChadP
Casio watch, NovelKeys NK87, Swig Mug (in Tiffany Blue, of course)
Oh, we’re doing mug shots?
My daily drinker is the big black mug on the right. It’s about 50% bigger than a standard mug by volume.
Also, it lives its life as a coffee mug about 40% of the year with the other 60% split between hot chocolate and Earl Grey tea.
@ExtraMedium Will your desktop heater work on that bigger one? We sell ones that charge phones too! ((FYI))
I have a couple of mugs that I cycle out each week. Right now, I’m drinking out of my lil pumpkin friend! One of my favorite coworkers from a previous job gave this to me on Dia De Los Muertos as a little celebration gift.
@SpoopySkeleton This is so pretty omg.
@riskybryzness Isn’t it?! I can’t remember where she found it, but I love it so much.
I got so excited to take a picture of my coffee cup with my desk mat that I spilled it all over.
@riskybryzness so cute!!
@moonhat Target is my go-to for mugs these days! Snag the cat cups any time they launch.
@riskybryzness i will keep my eyes open. And you are in the pnw too if I remember right, yes?
@moonhat @riskybryzness target mugs are my weakness
@ordinaryotter Like how am I supposed to walk past them knowing how cute they’d look during winter and holding coffee or hot chocolate? I don’t make the rules, I just know I need them all.
@moonhat I will be here in a few months! So excited.
I am going to come back for the rest of the month and post my coffee cups each day. I hope you are ready.
goodwill mugs for the win.
@ordinaryotter Oh my god
@ordinaryotter Wow.
@ordinaryotter That is fantastic.
@ordinaryotter Yeah, amazing.
@ordinaryotter THE COW HANDLE OMG
Apparently I have been thirsty today!!
@tinamarie1974 I have the same setup right now too. Coffee, Mcdonald’s Sprite, and water lol. The three horsemen of the quenchpocolpyse
@riskybryzness except my Penzy’s mug is for hot tea.
@riskybryzness @tinamarie1974 three drinks at all times - one for enjoyment, one for energy, and one for hydration
@ordinaryotter @riskybryzness @tinamarie1974 the perfect trinity
@sammydog01 Is this calamityware?
@sammydog01 This is amazing!
@riskybryzness Yep. I have a Christmas mug too, complete with a sleigh pulled by a pterodactyl.
@riskybryzness @sammydog01
Those are so cool.
@sammydog01 Oh this is awesome! I love it!
POPSOCKETS! ROAD ROCKETS! SONNY CROCKETT! AWESOME!
Also, Charliedoggo asked me to post his as he still hasn’t figured it out
So many pretty and interesting mugs! Mine is nothing special - just your generic mug:
/showme a Yeti can insulator holding a Coke Zero
@mediocrebot Nope! Let’s try this:
/image Yeti can insulator
Not chilly enough for tea and cocoa here yet, so…
@Thumperchick “Stewarts” like the Key Lime Soda people?!
@GetClosure nah. They’re a convenience store and ice cream brand up here.
@Thumperchick Nice! Tasty either way!
I’ll post my other mugs another day.
@narfcake Biased, but I love this.
Second try here’s a mug I use.
@Kyeh I am in awe of your collection… I can only DREAM to be this level of muggy
@SpoopySkeleton I’m a few decades ahead of you, I think - hang in there and you’ll get there! (And don’t move too often. )
@Kyeh
You are Just. Fucking. Awesome.
VAN GOGH! MANGO! TANGO! AWESOME!
@carl669 @llangley Thanks! I was showing my mother some pictures on my phone and had to quickly scroll by that one …
@carl669 @Kyeh @llangley
That’s funny! No matter how old we get moms are still moms!
And BTW, how did I ever miss this fantastic topic?
and now you all know my secret identity!
@earlyre we’re on to you…
I’m boring.
40oz of icewater. Good old Adam’s Ale.
@blaineg My father used to call it “municipal Champagne.”
@blaineg thanks. I’m going to order one of those for my son
@cichlid Mine came from Woot last year.
@blaineg Steel straws make me cringe, so I replaced them with a silicone straw.

@blaineg
Vintage Chateau la Pompe …
@chienfou That’s new to me.
@blaineg @chienfou It’s a really nice Bordeaux…

@blaineg @werehatrack
That was always just a French joke on “castle of the pump”. I guess someone actually decided to use that name for their wine. Sort of like the idea of using Soylent for a food product…
@carl669 does this count toward the fuck count?
@Thumperchick it does in my house!
@carl669 @Thumperchick
Had I not read this comment I never would’ve seen the profanity! Duh
All of your fancy cups paint some lovely pictures. This is reality in the daily trenches.
I love bunnies. My mother gave me a mug with bunnies on it when I was maybe 20 years old. I can’t find the mug (although chances are it’s around here somewhere) but found a photo on the internet.
I did not tell her.
@sammydog01 Reminds me of a shirt that’s no longer in production. The number one question that the sellers got was “Do you have it in children’s sizes?”
@sammydog01 @werehatrack
I like the shirt.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 Maybe Pegasus publishing still has your size, they have a few left in their clearance bin. https://pegpub.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=42_60_145&products_id=2442
@sammydog01 @werehatrack
Hmm … I can’t find a size chart. I suppose I could call them tomorrow. Thanks!
@Kyeh @sammydog01 On that one, 99% likely that the blanks were Fruit Heavy, so they’re just the normal industry-standard dimensions with maybe a tad more shrinkage if you dry them too hot than with a Gildan, a Port, or a Hanes. (I’ve handled a lot of Offworld shirts over the years.)
@sammydog01 @werehatrack Would S be a standard men’s small? That’s the only size they have.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 Yep, that’s what S is. And I checked; Scott says he probably also has a 5X left, but that’s going to be a tent on most folks.
@sammydog01 @werehatrack The small would probably fit me; the 5x definitely not! Thanks.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 @werehatrack
That’s a great site! Love that shirt too!
Three of my favorites - the tall mug is usually for beer, but I filled it with milk to make the design more visible, which attracted the attention of my assistant …
@stolicat What a beautiful assistant!
I got this one because I’ve got a weird sense of humor, but the glass is far thinner than I expected, so it’s just a display piece.
It’s the Fred and Friends “Equal Measure Measuring Cup”, but it’s out of stock. I found mine on ebay.
@xobzoo They’re just a couple of photos I grabbed off the net to show both sides.
Good luck with your hunt, it was hard to find at a reasonable price.
@blaineg Here’s one of the production version:
It originally came from Target.
Day two of getting mugged.
GMM ftw.
@riskybryzness Ooo, I like your pen collection; also love the stuffies above!
@cf1 Concession stand classic!
40 ounces of lemonade or Kool Aid tropical punch. I drink at least 2 gallons a day. Thanks, diabetes!
@Pony yeah… I need to work on more fluids… to keep both the type 2 Diabeetus(runs strong in my family), and the kidney stones away…
@earlyre @Pony Be aware (if you aren’t already) that taking excessive amounts of Vitamin C increases the likelihood of calcium oxalate kidney stones. Fortunately, those are the ones that are easiest to zap with ESWL.
A different day, a different mug:
Never did own a Gateway computer on purpose, though. Still some late 1990s nostalgia for those in the know. Thrifted, sat long enough to be marked down to 35 cents – and there was an extra 20% off that particular day.
It’s Monday. I could use a little coffee.
Another thrifted mug, it’s kind of faded and worn, but it’s also a bit larger and it has a cat on it, so I spent the $0.99 for it.
My favorite water bottle.
Another day, a different thrifted cat mug.
I’ll be getting to some of my more valuable ones in due time.
Hot chocolate in a mug I got from someone’s post-yard-sale free box. Swiss Miss instant is boring and too sweet, so I doctored it up a little.
@Kyeh I toss in a teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder, some of the pie spice, and a shake of Arbol chili; close to the same effect.
@werehatrack I should give up on instant cocoa mixes altogether and just make it with the unsweetened powder and milk and sugar, but I get lazy & forget how bad the mixes are.
One of the mugs I don’t use. Made in Japan, so I believe it’s original from the 1980s.
@narfcake I have a clear glass Apple ‘beer glass’ with handle, and the apple logo etched into the bottom. Won it in a contest around 1982, and I don’t use it much.
I can’t post pictures because my mugs are at work and I’m off this week.

I just drink out of the wall.
@capnjb
No way! Those actually work?
@Kyeh Yeah. I used to be really into homebrewing and when my wife was 5 months pregnant I convinced her to allow me to punch holes in a perfectly good wall in the name of beer. She said ok, and five days later it was finished No sense wasting time… right?

@capnjb Well, that’s awfully ingenious! And it sounds like the beer shower caused her no harm. I’m drinking coffee out of my J mug in your honor.
I still have a hard time accepting that 1984 was 38 years ago.
@narfcake 1984 never ended.
@narfcake @werehatrack It’s kind of back again. George Orwell called them Thought Police. Now we call them fact checkers.
@narfcake You and me both - my oldest daughter will turn 38 next April.
In 1984 I was working a full time job, building a house and dealing with a pregnant wife. Somehow I lived to tell the tale.
