Hmm… crash tested, airline approved, but intended for travel by car, bus or rail. Garfield says nope, not unless it also includes a fold out lasagna tray table!
@brennyn@DrunkCat Which also means we’re only a year or two away from carriers with voice misrecognition that will open at the wrong time when they think they’ve been told to do that.
I really prefer that my devices be as dumb as possible.
I have this exact carrier! I got it 5 years ago at a popular pet store when I was getting ready to pick up a new kitten, and definitely paid close to the suggested retail price. I haven’t used it on an airplane, so can’t speak on that.
It’s held up well for semi-regular use to vet visits. But it’s a tight fit for an athletic 10lb adult cat, he cannot stand up at all and it’s a struggle to turn around. It was especially tight when he had to come home with a cone after surgery. I like that it has 2 zipper sides. The latches are nice too, to attach to carseat hooks.
My main gripe is the padded, quilted mat…there’s no way to attach it to the carrier, so EVERY time I get my cat out, it’s scrunched to one side. Without the mat, it’s just a hard rigid base. Granted, this is my experience with my 5 year old carrier, not sure if they changed this design over the years.
At $29, It’s a decent carrier and would work for smaller ish cats, or cats that are fine with being more confined. It’s nice and dark inside which helps with his anxiety in the car. Hope this helps!
@PooltoyWolf@uvassassin I really don’t want to sign up for the testing. Though in some of the Eastern airports might get “volunteered” for crash testing.
@olsmeister I am cat-deficient and cats seem to be offered to me on many occasions. It’s been hard to resist but have, mostly for possible upcoming travel.
These 2 were hard to resist.
Edit: reminds me of something I think is true. You don’t choose them; they choose you. The one closer found me fascinating, the other one, her friend in the background was probably saying stay away from that guy; he’s bad news.

Our cat overlords demand nicer accommodations than this!!
@yakkoTDI This confirms what I’ve always thought: people are cats’ pets and dogs are people’s pets.

…fail…
I read the Amazon reviews. the 1 & 2 stars one before I would read 3 & higher
I did not like what I read. (about 20 of them)
Crash tested, but no claims of survival or injury rates. Interesting.

Sherpa Forma, “AI” users are door knobs.
@DrunkCat Thankfully, we’re at least a year or two away from AI pet carriers that require a phone app and voice recognition to open.

@werehatrack Simply stop paying for the monthly subscription and it’ll never open again.
@DrunkCat Your AI generated statements are getting worse. This will not help you win them back.

You don’t want a cat then. Well maybe a @DrunkCat

@brennyn @DrunkCat @narfcake @pmarin @werehatrack That video clip seems about right. Years ago I had a cat who could open kitchen drawers.

Glad you found a way to post from your landline!

Also! If you get this for a dog it better be a chihuahua or smaller!
They haven’t tried this with either Star or Mamama from our group.
I assume ‘crash-tested’ refers to cars, not airplanes.

Batdog cannot be contained.
This looks like a nice pet carrier. If only they were selling pets on Sidedeal!
