@Furbdog What? You mean like handheld blow dryers? Skil saws? Hair clippers?
We sold our Dyson when we got our first shark, the same as this except it has a long nozzle and powered brush head called the Rocket. We got it for our RV and just for grins tried it immediately after vacuuming a spot on our house carpet. OMG! It filled the bagless chamber in no time!
I wanted a second one to use for the RV as we have the Shark Rocket and the Shark Rotator lift away for the house.
Shoot, missed it again!
I wholeheartedly agree with the positive reviews. Terrific in cleaning dust and pet hair off of upholstered furniture, and it’s a fantastic car vacuum as well! When my friends saw me using it as we prepped for a multi-family yard sale last weekend, they all wanted to test it out and they were indeed raving about it! Now I can tell them all where to get one!
@sykl0ps Only if you car was close enough to an outlet to plug it in or you had a long extension cord. If you have a way to power it then it would work fine.
@sykl0ps Not at all. The only limitation that I ran into was the length of the nozzle on the front had me tilting it all around to get it into tight places.
@sykl0ps You have the nozzle thing that you put the attachments on that gives you distance from the canister. It is a standard diameter so you can ones from other vacs if you need a different length (as in a shorter crevice tool for example).
Well, I learned that I need to be clear with my questions. I was just hoping for the communities experience with using this in their car since it’s been up for sale here previously. But thanks to those who told me that I needed to plug in a corded vac and how to plug it in.
My purple Shark cordless vac recently died so I bought a cheapo stick vac with a removable handheld vac from Aldi’s. Perhaps this Shark corded vac will have a longer life than the short-lived rechargeable model. I do wish it was available in purple though.
I have one. Works well and has decent suction. Wish it was cordless as where I live I have no way to plug it in to clean out my car. I tried snaking a 100’ indoor/outdoor extension cord from the lobby to my car (after hours) and got yelled at by the desk nazi when she unexpectedly showed up.
@Kidsandliz … a bit of a Rube Goldberg solution to not having 120 volts handy. You could slice the power rating closer but I wouldn’t. (Perhaps you’ll find the inverter handy for other uses under the eyes of the lobby nazi.)
@RedOak My solution might just be throw a couple of quarters in a car wash vac. I’d like to give the desk nazi “naturally curly hair” with an electric jolt. Man she sticks her face in where it doesn’t belong but since she is best buds with the apt manager I need to be careful around her.
We refuse to use the those self-serve car wash vac’s. The only thing entering our minds: that time it was used to suck up the barf from that friend in the back seat on the way home from the bar the other night.
There’s a park near us that has power outlets on the light poles - austensibly for Christmas lighting - but I see folks charging their phones all the time. You might find something like that.
Got one last time. Love it!
Great with cat fur, and great on the stairs.
Corded is a plus; it’ll keep going as long as you want and not die in the middle of a job - nor will the batteries wear out at random some day.
I bought one previously. I’d forgotten it was refurbished because it looked new. It’s great on furniture! Removing cat hair from the bristles isn’t a problem. The first time I used it, I realized how much my old hand held vacuum had been missing!
Bought this last time around, it’s pretty great. Mostly use it to vacuum my stairs, which is an area that my dyson proves to be particularly inept.
It’s a good buy.
Bought one a while ago. It’s better than cheezburgerz for my stupid grandcat, to whom I’m allergic. Especially for cleaning stairs and cars and chairs and stuff where lifting up the old Eureka is a pain in the neck. Never any trouble. Plus, the grandcat hides when she sees me getting it out.
Grandcat: where your kid says “my new apartment won’t let me keep my cat.” Advice: tell your kids “no grandcats” regularly from the time they’re old enough to understand “what does the kitttycat say?”
I bought the Shark Rocket Handheld Vacuum last time you had it available and love it! It saved me so much money at the car wash/detail. This actually picks up the dog hair that gets all over my car. The vacuum at the car wash can’t even get it out! (Think white dog/black interior of car)
Thank you so much!!!
I too purchased a Shark from Meh on the last sale. It is quiet, yet powerful and does everything that a small vacuum is supposed to do and then some. I can’t recall if I paid $38.
@kazrak I have not used it with ash, but I did sand my ceilings and walls prior to painting and it picked up that dust fine. I still had to wipe up a very thin layer that was holding tight to the floors, but all in all it worked fine. Not quite sure if this is comparable to ash, but hope it helps.
@kazrak I wouldn’t, I’d duck tape a hepa bag over the intake (where the float ball thing is) of a shopvac and use it. Ash is really fine and will tear up a regular vac.
@bloondie2 hello! I actually "jumped the shark"with my cry for help. I saw the word Shark and thought it meant the steam mop. I ordered the Shark vacuum which I do want. So now my shame is public. I’m old. Feel sorry for me.
@tngrannyd aww, crap! Now I’ve been disappointed twice in less than an hour. My pita husband ruined my surprise for him. I bought the cold brew coffee press for him as a surprise “just because” kind of gift and he opened the box (that I didn’t even know had arrived). He just showed it to me and I panicked because I thought he had bought one for himself, but thankfully he hadn’t, but I’m like WTF, Happy whatever, ass. The vacuum was going to be for him too, which he asked me to research, etc. so when I saw this one is was so happy, then so so sad because they were sold out. Enjoy your vacuum, you shark jumping, wolf calling old lady! I kid I kid! I’m all about the love! I’m sure I can get it from the Morning save site. I’m sure no one will even read this since the thread is a few days old, so your secret is safe with me!
@tngrannyd oh my goodness, I have no idea where the day went. I read your message this morning and I had to look up Fuko. I got 3 different answers. 1) it’s another way to say the “F” word. 2) I’m guessing it’s anime, it’s a story about a 15 yo girl and then you find out she’s dreaming the whole time because she’s been in a coma for 6 or 8 years. 3) an extremely large breasted Japanese woman (48 inch boobs, a size P!) I read that she models, did softcore porn (she gave that up though) So that’s all I can tell you, though I have a feeling it’s something else that I have no clue about! The Morning Save site is its own website. They sell left over stuff from different places. They have stuff that was shown on the Talk, Access Hollywood, Meh, and a few others. The prices are higher than what we are offered daily on Meh, and I assume all the others as well. I must’ve signed up at one point because they send me weekly email. I hope you’re having a nice day so far. I feel like we should maybe divulge our first names, or is it too soon in our relationship?! LOL! Have a great weekend
@bloondie2 no worries, I was gone all afternoon. Annual school shopping trip with two of my grands. A couple others answered the Fuko question. It is offered every few months but you have to be quick to get one. The name refers to a Japanese word meaning good luck but changes it to mean unlucky. Its basically a grab bag with may or not contain anything of real value, mostly likely not. But it always costs $5 and has stuff worth that much but maybe not to you. Sounds like fun for five bucks. My real name is Darlene. tngrannyd is because I’m from Tenessee and have 10 grandkids. I’ve added 5 great grands since I set up that email.
@tngrannyd good morning Darlene! My name is Stephanie. After I sent you the email last night I googled the full word and got the correct explanation of the little bags. It does sound fun! I read that in Japan, people line up for miles waiting to get their bags on New Years day. That’s nuts! You sound like a wonderful grandma! I used to take my niece bts shopping. I’m more of a girly girl than my sister so I really enjoyed spending the day shopping and making sure she got all the stuff the cool kids got. Being the youngest, I always got hand-me-downs. I don’t have children. I always wanted children but it just never worked out. So I spoiled my niece and nephew. Four years ago my husband and I moved to Florida from Connecticut. He had gotten a pretty good job offer and initially he was able to work from home but then they decided they needed him in FL. Fortunately, my parents decided they would move to FL. I wouldn’t have been able to leave them. They love it here. They just got back yesterday from driving up to Vermont for my mom’s 55th HS reunion. She said if she ever had any doubts about moving here, they’re gone. I guess I should stop yakking, sorry. Sometimes I get carried away. Have a great day!
@bloondie2 Glad to meet you Stephanie. Being “Nana” is my greatest gift. The oldest is 31 and the youngest g-grand will be 2 in October. Since they are so spread out in age I have had time to adequately spoil all of them. Nothing I love more than rocking a baby to sleep. Another fave tradition is “Christmas Catalog Parties” when the new catalogs come and the younger ones gather around me to go through them to make Christmas lists. They want something from every page at first look. LOL And Cuddle Puddles in which two or more cuddle up with me in a giant tangle of arms and legs to watch movies or just enjoy the love. Yep, I love being Nana. Have a good Sunday.
@tngrannyd you most definitely have the best job in the world! I’ll bet the older ones enjoy watching you with the little ones. Knowing that they did the same things with you reinforces their memories they have with you. You are all truly blessed. Once again, I’m up at 3 am. I’ve been having trouble sleeping for a few months. It seems that once a week, I’m up for 3 days straight. I feel tired, but I can’t seem to sleep. Apparently, something is on my mind. I hope I figure it out soon. I should check out what Meh is selling today. Maybe it’s something fantastic and I’ll get it before it sells out! LOL! Did you get a chance to check out the Morning Save website? I wasn’t too impressed this week. They seem to have a lot of the same stuff for weeks. I can’t believe it’s the last day of July. Time keeps flying by. Enjoy your day!
@bloondie2: yes, the older ones do love the continuing traditions. I have expanded on my dad’s papaw rules. He never said no to one of his babies, his house, his rules as in, yes they can have chocolate even if they didn’t finish their dinner, if mommy won’t buy it, Paw San will, etc. The Snack Basket I used for the oldest ones is still in use by one daughter for her granddaughter. I have had to expand to a Snack Rack. Everyone’s first stop is the Snack Rack. I learned when I lost my dad just how precious memories are so I’m trying to leave lots of good ones. Have you tried melatonin for sleep? Start with 3 or 5mg. Go up to 10mg if necessary. I go through periods of insomnia and that usually helps. Or Benedryl for a few nights in a row. Have a great Monday.
@tngrannyd hi Darlene! I’m so sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I don’t know where last week went. Did you do anything fun over the weekend? My weekend was pretty quiet. I have tried taking Benedryl to fall asleep. It doesn’t seem to work for me anymore. At one point all I had to do was look at the box & I’d get sleepy. I haven’t tried melatonin. My mom & my Dr. recommended it too. Although my problem isn’t so much that I’m not tired, it’s more that I don’t want to go to sleep. I have a really bad back and I can’t sleep in a bed anymore. I sleep in a recliner with a firm wedge pillow and don’t lie back all the way. I can’t lie flat or my side. I feel OK when I’m lying on my side, but trying to get up is ridiculously painful and then I have hot spots running down my leg that feel itchy but as soon as I touch the skin, it burns and my knee won’t bend. Apparently there are some nerves getting mighty upset. I’ve had 3 surgeries which all failed leaving me in way worse shape than I was before the first surgery ten+ years ago. I am having a rizotomy on Friday. In case you don’t know what that is, they burn the ends of the sacral nerves (1-5) so they can’t send a pain signal to the brain. I hope it works. The steroid shots have ever need error worked for me. Currently, my husband and I are renting a place that came furnished so I can’t get a convertible bed yet. Hopefully, within a year we’ll be in our own place so I can get the bed of my dreams! I’m blabbering again. Have a great rest of the week!
@bloondie2 I’m sorry to hear of your back problems. My youngest has had five surgeries with little to no improvement and painful recoveries. It sounds like you have some neuropathy going on too. Gabapentin and Lidocaine cream might offer some relief. No fun weekend for me. My husband has frontotemporal lobe dementia. Some days it seems he tries his hardest to make my life difficult.
@tngrannyd I’m really sorry to hear that. It must be very difficult for you. Do you ever get a break to take care of yourself? Let’s exchange email addresses instead of posting here. If you’re okay with that, of course. Mine is bloondie2@yahoo.com this way you don’t have to post yours. I promise I’m not a crazy stalker, just a little lonely.
This will be my second one. Not that I am replacing my previous refurbished Shark Rocket from meh, only that this is such a sweet deal I know I couldn’t replace my current Shark Rocket for anywhere close to $38 and with my animals I could not live without it.
Apparently I’ve lost my mind. I ordered a new sofa in gray polyester velvet, so I bought this to keep it livable, what with 3 cats.
/giphy lifeless-discreet-seal
@tngrannyd If you accidentally ordered, you can cancel the order for up to one how by clicking the red “cancel” link. Look on the Your Orders page for that.
If it’s been longer than an hour, or you can’t find the link - write in to meh.com/support.
@tngrannyd If you decide you dont want it and you’re going to contact meh support, maybe they can cancel your order and send it to me. Lmk if you or or they need me to contact them. Thanks! And @therealjrn thanks so much for putting us in touch. Hopefully this will work out!
I just got mine! Plugged it into my car and turned it on! Came on, then turned off! Did this thrice, and it does not work! Will see if it comes on when plugged up to DC in the house, if not, how do I return this to get one that actually works???
@vcdiva does the adaptor/inverter thing you plug it into allow enough power draw from your car battery (not sure of the technical terms here)? If not that may be your problem in the car. I don’t think anything is out there for a regular car (not RV) that allows you to run a regular vac because they draw too much power. You can blow the (in the car) fuse, damage your car battery or your vac if you try to use something that your car system isn’t able to handle appropriately.
According to specs for the vac
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Voltage: 120V., 60Hz
Watts: 400W
Amps: 3.4A
Based on this likely the watts are too high for a (non-RV designed for household appliances) cigarette lighter use as the car system and the adaptor/inverter aren’t designed for that much. I think the watt max is around 120 watts out of those things in cars. Hopefully you didn’t damage anything (car or vac). Many systems have a safety system that shuts down the power if you overload it. Not sure that is what is going on in your case of course, but that is my best guess.
Just cleaned my carpeted stairs with the motorized brush. It did a great job but I’m wondering how to clean the bristles on the motorized brush. Is there a way to open up the attainment to gain better access to the bristles?

In B4 “it sucks”
@Thumperchick That’s what my wife said about my mistress.
But you have to plug it in!
A refurb sucking device…pass
@somf69 so you’ve met my ex-wife?
I bought this last time. Works great! Even picks up all the dog hair!
@DaveInSoCal Agreed!
@DaveInSoCal a great vacuum (especially for the price!) Fifteen foot cord is a great PLUS.
@DaveInSoCal ditto… works great… nice unit…
@DaveInSoCal yes! I love mine- one of my fave purchases on here!
I love mine. Great for sucking up flys and stink bugs
More like “consistent suck-sess”
/giphy nailed it
If you buy this…you’re going to need a bigger boat.
Handheld should mean cordless!
And it’s not even purple.
Pass.
@JT954 the font was purple on a grey background
grape colored fonts on a grey background do not allow enough contrast to quickly read
Soooo… Why come the motor is 500 Watts, but the total power is 400 Watts? Does it generate its own electricity? Something is fishy with this Shark.
Also got one during a previous offering. Absolutely love it. Works great. Will never go back to a cordless unit.
@lordbowen yah, cordless doesn’t suck.
Would it be good for cleaning out the car?
@sykl0ps Only if you car was close enough to an outlet to plug it in or you had a long extension cord. If you have a way to power it then it would work fine.
@Kidsandliz so it works fine for your car? I thought maybe the big canister thing on the bottom might get in the way using it in the car.
@Kidsandliz @sykl0ps They make these things called power inverters . It creates an outlet in your car. They are as cheap as 10 bucks.
Well, I learned that I need to be clear with my questions. I was just hoping for the communities experience with using this in their car since it’s been up for sale here previously. But thanks to those who told me that I needed to plug in a corded vac and how to plug it in.
Anyone see the smile here? Just needs some eyes.
@awk you might be reaching where the cord won’t go.
@RedOak
He looks so friendly. Hi Mr. Shark Vac!
@awk I wouldn’t trust that shark vac with my detritus.
My purple Shark cordless vac recently died so I bought a cheapo stick vac with a removable handheld vac from Aldi’s. Perhaps this Shark corded vac will have a longer life than the short-lived rechargeable model. I do wish it was available in purple though.
@heartny this one is a nice little vacuum… & exactly why I didn’t want a cordless…
In for one!

I have one. Works well and has decent suction. Wish it was cordless as where I live I have no way to plug it in to clean out my car. I tried snaking a 100’ indoor/outdoor extension cord from the lobby to my car (after hours) and got yelled at by the desk nazi when she unexpectedly showed up.

@RedOak That’s a thought. I will have to look around.
got one last time they’re great for car cleaning foe sure
No pucky item? Instead we get a sucky one. So much for your streak.
First purchase on meh!!! Let’s hope it doesn’t suck. Well is supposed to suck but you know what I mean…
Iz gots on cause it’s redd!
Got one last time. Love it!
Great with cat fur, and great on the stairs.
Corded is a plus; it’ll keep going as long as you want and not die in the middle of a job - nor will the batteries wear out at random some day.
Is the “motorized” brush really powered or does it use air to power it?
@bitslammer It’s powered, it has electrical connections for the head. Here’s a video (does not have electronics tool as in the vid).
@Kerig3
@RedOak Oh yeah! And both of their voices are like nails on a chalkboard.
Hookers beware! I think that thing might be able to suck a golf ball through a garden hose.
@ragu4u You’re close, but you’ll have to watch the video I posted above (at 4:25) to see how off you are!
@ragu4u Yeah, but can it suck start a Harley?
I bought one previously. I’d forgotten it was refurbished because it looked new. It’s great on furniture! Removing cat hair from the bristles isn’t a problem. The first time I used it, I realized how much my old hand held vacuum had been missing!

@OllieJones It don’t work, they sneak in the pets while you’re gone. The granddog does the dino thing whenever he sees me too.
I bought the Shark Rocket Handheld Vacuum last time you had it available and love it! It saved me so much money at the car wash/detail. This actually picks up the dog hair that gets all over my car. The vacuum at the car wash can’t even get it out! (Think white dog/black interior of car)

@moonhat No I just checked. It was $38 then too.
I haven’t vacuumed my stairs since 2004. This will change my life.
/giphy baled-thrilling-pipe
How well would this work for ash? Looking for a small vacuum I can use to clean out the bottom of my pellet smoker.

Hey all! Totally serious here… if anyone has buyer’s remorse, please lmk and I will gladly take it off your hands. Thank you so much!
@bloondie2 They’re available again; the hold expired at 4 PM.
@OldCatLady Nope, not true. It’s only open to VMP. Barney shows that it’s sold out. My other account, VMP, says that I can buy it.
Edit: Don’t ever pay any attention to what @f00l says.
@bloondie2 , meet @tngrannyd.

@Barney, thank you. Purple is my favorite color btw. I’m enjoying learning and Meh and Meh People.
@bloondie2 I did check out Morning Save. Didn’t find anything.

Yeah, I decided this might be better than dragging out my upright vac and using the non-motorized brush attachment.

I want this deal! It CAN’T be too late!
@ragu4u It’ll probably show up tomorrow on Morningsave. Check the ‘Meh Encore’ section.
I DIDN’T CLICK “BUY”!!! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN???
Just opened mine. DOA:(
@madmod20061 I guess I better go test my vac.
@madmod20061 Did you try unplugging it and then plugging it back in?
@madmod20061 Mine worked fine used it to clean out the BlueMagic vacuum because others are too busy to put a bag in correctly.
