@kostia Multiple times. My only complaint is that the last couple organ players have not been that great. I am old enough to have heard Rosa Rio. Of course since she played there even after her 100th birthday that is not that shocking.
Bob (can’t remember his last name but he never wore shoes while playing) was the last great organist there.
@chienfou “Spirited” is way up on my list, i LOVE Ferrell & Reynolds, but I haven’t been to a movie theater since the Christmas that “Lincoln” was showing, & Apple TV+ isn’t one of my streaming services, so it might be awhile!
They are the worst porn I have ever seen unless it’s supposed to be some kind of suspense thriller where you keep waiting for something exciting to happen. The quality of acting is about the same too.
I like how over the past few years they’ve gotten a bit more inclusive and self aware. There were a couple gay ones last year, one of which wasn’t terrible. And my favorite last year was A Clusterfünke Christmas, a parody that really rewards a familiarity with the tropes of the genre.
I don’t usually watch them, but if one’s on and I catch it, I might sit through part of it.
One thing about them, it IS nice to see movies that have a generally positive ending and/or message that the whole family can enjoy. Now, more than ever, we need positive things to feed our souls.
I wish they’d make more that showed more of the meaning of Christmas, the historical aspects of it, the true stories that make it such a special season instead of just repetitive romance. It seems like most of the story lines are the same, the actors are just different…well, not even that. Many of them are repetitive, too.
@chienfou “Love, Actually” is a classic (although “Four Weddings and a Funeral” will always be my favorite Richard Curtis work)… My friend let me borrow her copy of “The Holiday” recently, so i may FINALLY watch it after all these years! It’s been on my list cuz so many people mention it, i feel like i have to give it a chance!
@chienfou Well, i DO love me some Jack Black! I’m sure he’s the reason it was on my list in the first place, so your rec clinches it, I’ve GOT to make it a priority this year!
I watch a lot of them although hallmarks Christmas movies are not as good as they used to be. I’ve started watching the ones on the gac channel this year, old ceo of hallmark runs it and a lot of actors are moving over to it.
I don’t typically watch them, but my brother was an extra in a holiday movie airing on QVC+ (I guess everybody is getting into the streaming game? ), so I kind of had to watch that one. I believe it’s called Holly and the Hot Chocolate Stand.
My brother is the guy (in brown) on the left with the goofy look on his face. If he weren’t already retired, I would tell him not to quit his day job.
This is his second 2 second starring role. He was also in a basketball crowd shot in Adam Sandler’s Hustle. He says it’s fun, and it is pretty cool. I’d love to try that sometime.
@k4evryng How fun! QVC, I would never have expected that. I love his expression. I bet his acting skills are probably right up there with most of the others in that movie!
I will be watching It’s a Wonderful Life at Tampa Theatre this eyar like I normally do.
@yakkoTDI One of my favorite venues anywhere! Have you ever seen a silent film there with the organ? It’s great.

I refuse to watch them.
I don’t actually watch them but I still put them on and ignore them. Just seems like the thing to do.
Personally, my kind of Christmas movies are National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation & Bad Santa. Can’t wait to see Violent Night!
@ircon96
Do NO T miss Spirited…It was genius! But then again I also loved Scrooged
@ircon96 Die Hard?
@chienfou “Spirited” is way up on my list, i LOVE Ferrell & Reynolds, but I haven’t been to a movie theater since the Christmas that “Lincoln” was showing, & Apple TV+ isn’t one of my streaming services, so it might be awhile!
@rtjhnstn Who doesn’t love Bruce Willis at his sarcastic, ass-kicking peak?

@kostia
I’ll have to check that one out!
@chienfou @kostia “Clusterfünke” has been in my DVR this whole time, i guess now would be the time to watch it. Help, my watchlist is drowning me!
I don’t usually watch them, but if one’s on and I catch it, I might sit through part of it.

My Xmas weekend movie list includes Once Upon A DeadPool. There will be others, but that one’s a must.
I usually fall asleep and wake up to my wife crying. I try to be a supportive husband.
Rudolph and the Grinch are more my thing.
I enjoyed The Holiday and Love Actually if that’s what you mean…
@chienfou “Love, Actually” is a classic (although “Four Weddings and a Funeral” will always be my favorite Richard Curtis work)… My friend let me borrow her copy of “The Holiday” recently, so i may FINALLY watch it after all these years! @ircon96
It’s a great Jack Black vehicle!
And yes 4W&aF is a riot.

Big fan of The Holiday but otherwise meh on the schmaltz.

Isn’t it a bit unfair to say they’re all the same movie?
@blaineg You’re correct, there are actually three movies with an average of about 25 remakes or rewrites each.
The Ref.
Recommend Holidate on Netflix…not strictly Christmas, but revolves mostly around that holiday.
@kewlchick086 Sounds fun!

@k4evryng @Kyeh He’s adorkable!
@ircon96 @k4evryng
@ircon96 @Kyeh oh yes! That’s perfect!
We were all laughing so hard! But he was so excited that he got actual screen time (where you could even tell it was him), that he didn’t care.
Coolest 2 seconds of his budding acting career so far! I joked that with a performance like that he is this close to getting his SAG card, lol!
I think his next gig is being an extra on something M. Night Shyamalan is doing around here. If it’s scary, my brother already has that look down pat!
@ircon96 @k4evryng So exciting - who knows, maybe he’ll go on to speaking parts, even! @chienfou was an extra in a pretty big movie a while back.
@k4evryng @Kyeh That’s so cool! Hopefully the MNS movie will be the next “Sixth Sense” & he’ll become a legend amongst extras!
I hate them and I don’t watch them
