sammydog01's Livenation plug
5Tomorrow Live Nation has concert tickets for $20 all in. Anyone who has tried to buy a $25 ticket and wound up with a final price of $54 understands this is an amazing deal. It starts at 9 am PST. Last year I was able to even get assigned seats for twenty bucks at a couple of concerts. Ozzie Osbourne was my favorite.

Damn, that’s a pretty awesome deal. If only any of those tours were coming my way. I’ve occasionally traveled for concerts, but it’s kind of a pain.
I am going to see Sammy Hagar in St. Louis, but it’s part of grandkids graduation week. And my kids birthdays.
WORKER BEES! HERCULES! TURKEY GREASE! AWESOME!
Looking at the acts in their listing. I wasn’t aware Rucker gave up on his country music career and went back to touring with the Blowfish.
@ruouttaurmind Last year he toured with Lady Antebellum. It sounded like they had problems selling tickets.
@sammydog01 They’re coming to Ak-Chin Pavillion in June. I get free tix there. I may have to feel nostalgic and go to that one.
Actually, I see there are several '80s and '90s bands coming to Ak-Chin this summer. Hootie, Train with Goo Goo Dolls, Third Eye Blind with Jimmy Eat World, DMB, and if I’m feeling particularly adventurous, Slipknot with Volbeat, Gojira and Behemoth.
Thanks @therealjrn! I’m going to try for KISS tickets.
@sammydog01 I probably should have made it more clear who was “speaking” but we got the job done!
@sammydog01 How can you tell where the acts are going to be?
@therealjrn The link above had a list although you will know for sure when the sale opens. Jimmy Buffet isn’t on that list but I’m still hopeful.
https://ncw.livenation.com/
(And you put my name right there in the title.)
@sammydog01 @therealjrn It sure would be nice to be able to see show schedules and venue locations in advance to select which shows you want to try for.
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn I just went to the 2 venues near me and made a list of the shows I might want to see. Since I saw a ridiculous number last summer it was pretty easy. Buffett was the only one I would go to again. Then KISS and Luke Bryan. I would love to see The Who but I’m tied up that day.
@sammydog01
@Barney Now I really want to go.
@sammydog01 I saw the movie Tommy on my honeymoon. The movie wasn’t that good, but we saw it at a theater that had these ginormous speakers that just about blew out our eardrums.
It was wonderful!
@Barney Tommy and Quadrophenia are both awful films with fantastic soundtracks.
@Barney @ruouttaurmind Instead of the Tommy movie, look for the Tommy concert with Phil Collins and Patti LaBelle.
@2many2no @ruouttaurmind That looks pretty good. Thanks!
Thank you @therealjrn! There may be a few more concerts in my immediate future
@tinamarie1974 I expect a ticket to any good ones!
@mfladd uummmmmm wait, what? Lol. I am confused, why am I buying the tickets???
@mfladd @tinamarie1974 Because @mfladd is a cheap bastard.
@Barney @mfladd so my motivation is what?!?!?! Bahahahahaha
@mfladd @tinamarie1974 Well, it’s certainly not his good looks.
/image ugly dog
@Barney @mfladd OMG!!!
@Barney @tinamarie1974 Don’t listen to the Half-purple (more lavender) Dinosaur. I am cute & cuddly. More like this…
In return for tickets I will grant you three wishes…
@mfladd Watch it boy, you’re starting to drool.
@Barney @mfladd 1. omg that puppy is adorable!!! I just want to hug it! 2. I feel like the three wishes is a set up…sounds like the “if you rub “this” a genie will pop out” I have news for you, something ALWAYS pops up, but I never saw a genie
@Barney @tinamarie1974 Don’t worry - I have a costume to take care of that. Just rub the lamp
@Barney @mfladd so you LIKE dressing up as Barbie?
@Barney @tinamarie1974 Depends on the situation.
@Barney @mfladd I’ve said it once and I will say it again…someone is a dirty boy!
/giphy kinky
@mfladd @tinamarie1974 You two realize, don’t you, that we are NOT having a threesome.
@Barney @mfladd omg I laughed so hard I actually snorted!
@Barney Hahaha…apparently we are! Buckle up!
@tinamarie1974 Whips and chains!? Such a tease
@mfladd moi, nnooooooo. Not me! I am completely innocent!
I am, however surprised you mentioned the whips and chains and left out the over the knee/thigh high boots
@Barney @mfladd ok Barney I removed you. No need to subject you to such shenanigans.
@tinamarie1974 I didn’t think I needed to say that those boots are required for playtime.
@mfladd @tinamarie1974 Oh brother, Imma need some boots too…
@mfladd @therealjrn those are some sturdy lookin boots there my friend!
@mfladd @tinamarie1974 Two things a man needs, sturdy boots and a sturdy back, right?
@mfladd @therealjrn oh a strong back and shoulders…YES!
@mfladd So when you say playtime…
@tinamarie1974
@mfladd how did you get my picture?!?!
Lol.
I think her hands are tied behind her back…
@tinamarie1974 How observant of you
@mfladd @tinamarie1974 I hereby disavow any responsibilities of this thread and any injuries resulting from @sammydog01’s plug.
@mfladd @sammydog01 @therealjrn that sounds like a serious plug…how big is it???
/giphy large butt plug
@mfladd details are important, especially when you are doing a job…
@mfladd @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 I’m just gonna watch from a distance.
@sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
Ummmm…are you saying that Sammydog01 requires a big plug!?
@mfladd @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
@mfladd @sammydog01 @therealjrn maybe you can share some of your stash with her. She may be too embarrassed to ask Alexa herself??
@mfladd @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 I tried to give her as a nice, big, fat plug that I was capable of producing.
@mfladd @sammydog01 @therealjrn oh my!
/giphy cheeky
Never tried buying on this sale before. Any tips on getting stuff? Any lessons from buying fuko/irk to help getting better ones here? Do they sell out instantly?
@raccoon81 Last year I started late and got tickets so I’m not sure. Some were even days later- it’s on for a week.
@raccoon81 Well That was ugly.
Well… finding what shows it was good for was a pain. And then it is often for single seats for a couple shows. Got a couple shows for the girlfriend and saved a big chunk so ok.
This promo pisses me off. There are always shows where I already have seats that I’ve paid more for. Typically they’re better seats though, as the promo tends to offer you the crappiest seating choices. But the occasional show where I already have lawn tickets (MMRBQ anyone) shows up and I could have saved $16 for the same damn tickets.
@cinoclav blame the goat!
@tinamarie1974 Ah, sure thing. @TheFLP -
@cinoclav @tinamarie1974
Thank you, and have a miserable day.
@cinoclav @TheFLP
@cinoclav @tinamarie1974
This month’s goat is something of a pessimist.
@cinoclav @TheFLP hhuuummmm. Well break a leg
@cinoclav @tinamarie1974
Why break one leg when you have two? And maybe throw in the arms.
I got my KISS tickets and that makes me happy even though I had to miss a half hour of The Avengers to do it. And they’re still available hours later. Oh well. Tickets for The Who are still up for grabs at our place but I really can’t go.
Oh no- I just found tickets for Alice Cooper but they’re the same night as KISS! NOOOOOO!
@sammydog01 OH NOOOOO!!
@sammydog01 go see Alice Cooper.
@RiotDemon I already bought KISS tickets- I have a feeling that Cooper would be better. But this is KISS’s final tour and it’s at the beach so we may be able to stay over and play in the sand.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 but how many final tours has Kiss had? I went to one a few years ago…
@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 This is the second one so far? I just read that the warm-up thing is a painter doing live art. I hope he’s still with them in August- that would be cool.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 there was a farewell tour in 2000 and they have toured MANY times since. I was burned on that one.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Kiss_concert_tours
I feel like an idiot. I can’t find anything for $20.
Ok, I finally found stuff. Apparently it’s for shows I don’t want to go to, or places that are farther than I’d like to normally drive. The closest place has regular lawn seating for $19.99, and the concert week tickets are 18.84… but the lawn sucks ass.
Oh well.
@RiotDemon The thing about the concert week tickets is that fees and taxes are included in the price. Those fees are gougey.
@sammydog01 yep, they are. The last few concerts I went to weren’t through live Nation. Much more reasonable. My favorite was the one with Apocalyptica for $45 that came with a poster, a photo book, a t-shirt, VIP pass, and an opportunity for them to sign one thing and take a photo with them.
Plus… The club was tiny so no matter where you were, great view.
ALERT ALERT LAST DAY FOR @SAMMYDOG01’S LIVENATION DEAL!!! ALERT ALERT
I just arranged for comps for the June shows for Hootie and the Blowfish with Barenaked Ladies, and a week later Train with Goo Goo Dolls. Then in July, Third Eye Blind with Jimmy Eat World. DMB is coming in September but it was too soon to get comps.
She was practically begging me to take some tix for Brad Paisley at the end of this month, but… um, no. Thanks. Not my bag, baby. I guess ol’ Brad isn’t selling well.
@ruouttaurmind We went to see Brad Paisley last year. It was a pretty good show. I hate country music crowds though.
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 What??? Is it the goat ropers or the shit kickers that bother you?
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn Neither- it’s the young fake country assholes with their shiny cowboy boots that get drunk and push you out of the line and leave trash all over the place and have to be carried off by the golf cart ambulance in the middle of the best songs. (Although the golf cart ambulance is kind of cool.)
@therealjrn
Yes.
@sammydog01 I did way too many shows in cowboy bars I guess. I got really burned out on the music, the scene, and all those hats. SO many hats.
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn I like the hats. I like the tight t-shirts. I hate sitting next to a puddle of vomit.
@sammydog01 Gack.
The country bars I worked in all had troughs as urinals. Drunken cowboys can’t seem to hit the trough when peeing, and the floors were always soaked with puddles of wee. And what’s up with the ice? The bars always filled the troughs with ice.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ruouttaurmind I guess it dilutes the pee? Eww.
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 I was going to guess it keeps the smell down…but them thar country folk are used to sech and such.
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn Maybe you get steam rising off the ice when you pee? That would be cool.
You do! It is!
@ruouttaurmind I know @sammydog01 probably hasn’t hung out in too many (how many is too many?) men’s rooms with troughs, but they usually have water cascading down the back and sides to continually flush away the pee pee.
I wonder if the bars shut off the water to save on the water bill by the end of the night?
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn I can’t watch myself pee on ice. I’m kind of jealous.
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 Available at Target (coincidence? I think not!) YOU GO GIRL!
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @therealjrn didn’t you buy a shewee?
/image shewee
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 I bet @Barney has one–she loves purple.
@sammydog01 I think @therealjrn maybe solved the riddle. Melting ice is more or less constantly draining away the wee which eliminates the need for expensive plumbing and flushing mechanisms? All you need is a drain and an ice machine. Makes sense to me.
I kept returning to look at the available shows and absolutely nothing enticed me except for the one I already have tickets to. MMRBQ - The local rock station’s annual spring festival. This year it’s:
Shinedown
Joan Jett and The Blackhearts
The Struts
Evanescence
Fozzy
The Glorious Sons
Bad Wolves
Siravo
Of all of them, I’m most looking forward to The Struts. This will be the third time I’ve seen them. If you ever get the chance, see them live. Luke Spiller is awesome. A modern day cross between Freddie Mercury and Mick Jagger.
WORKER BEES! HERCULES! TURKEY GREASE! AWESOME!
@cinoclav We were also looking at Heart, Slipknot, and Flogging Molly but we couldn’t make them work. The top one I would go see is The Who if I could.
@sammydog01 I’ve seen The Who before. That’s the only reason I don’t want to see them again. Plus I really don’t like going to shows without getting good seats unless it’s something like the one I listed above. For multiple bands, lawn seats are where the party is at. Just about all the $20 tickets were in the crappiest of sections.
