@dave That fact that you even have to list all those urls - because ear buds are scattered all over the place on that site - tells just how disorganized that site is and how hard it is to quickly and easily see what you have for sale in a certain category.
Moral of the story. Start a thread, flag you, then you will post the urls of all items on that site that might be a match. Congrats! You now have job security. LOL
Seriously though I don’t even bother to look there anymore because of how poorly designed that site is when the goal is to quickly and easily find something/look at things in a category, see what is there, keep track of what you have already looked at (due to how that site jumps around when you open something), etc. Morningsave is bucking for the gold ribbon in the disorganized website category. It has my vote.
@Kidsandliz at least right now, it’s not a shopping site. It’s a deal browsing site. Most of the selling and directing is done by the talking heads on tv to guide viewers to their curated deal selection.
If you show up wanting that pearl necklace you saw on extra, it’s easy. If you want to know what earbuds they might have, it’s hard. It will be interesting to see how they reconcile this or if they do. The best path may be nonobvious, like another interface where you can access the same deals in a traditional manner while keeping the exclusive appearance-oriented setup to not compromise the experience of visitors driven by tv.
Or i could just be talking out of my ass. I do have a goat by my name.
@snapster Oh, but you know we’re a caring bunch. I don’t doubt that your claim is true. The design/ux is a significant departure from a traditional shopping site and I don’t expect that happened by accident.
I’m not going to ramble on about it too much, but if i think about it there are so many ways i can say that morningsave isn’t ecommerce. I mean it is when you get down to the basic components, but you’ve turned a lot of ecommerce on its head here.
In your ideal use case the conversion rate should be almost the inverse of any other sales site as the selling has already been done. The order is just a few clicks as a formality because our pals on TV have already convinced us to buy this 50 pack of shimmer tattoos and that’s why we’re here.
The viewers are not there to be sold by copy or convinced by price comparisons, they’re there to order. Having us looky-loos come through and browse probably affects your stats significantly, although if we’re logged in you can account for it.
@snapster while it may be a different user case, perhaps it would be worth having an interface where you can find things for those of us who aren’t “as seen on TV” shoppers? Maybe even take us there from a link on the meh site rather than the morningsave site since that site is working well for you for that niche customer?
If we are looking for a product that had been sold on meh, simple. You search for it. If you want to see what else is there - especially by category, it’s a time consuming annoyance. Of course I am not your power shopper so you probably don’t care one iota about what I want/think anyway since your ROI in my wants is, um, likely approaching zero LOL. But then again I am not the only one who has complained about that convoluted, totally annoying, primitive for finding things interface when trying to just browse there.
You don’t have all that many products there. Yet anyway. So, at least right now, being forced to browse them all to find anything isn’t the worst feature. To me what is most frustrating is not being able to tell what you have already looked at without physically writing down each category since each time you click on stuff near the bottom of the page everything shifts around where it is, nothing shows you have looked there already…
@djslack It may not be a traditional shopping site and may be optimized for the as seen on TV crowd/different TV shows, but for those of us already using meh and not “as seen on TV” purchasers, it would be really helpful to have a way to actually find things there without as much frustration.
@snapster So since you are admitting that site needs, um, tweaked, perhaps you can add to your “coming sometime” an interface that makes it easier to browse and not either miss a category or open it twice because everything jumps around?
@Kidsandliz I am proudly saying no other site works better for the purpose it serves. @djslack conveyed the situation precisely as I would have. We will balance additional features with other priorities.
@snapster But it doesn’t work well for the purpose I want. But then again I already know I am not your target market for that site and not a high volume purchaser (grin). Glad you will be adding some things and hope to see some additions along the lines of a “regular” shopping site sometime before I am dead of old age or you sell this collection of sites to, um, say Amazon Walmart.
It’s such a different use case that I don’t expect any one here to care.
Except a number of us do care or we wouldn’t be bitching talking about it. Of course while you have made it clear you are optimizing it for TV shoppers to quickly find what was advertised so they can buy it, I guess you didn’t expect is that those of us on meh are not differentiating between your different sites/their purposes…from the point of view of many of us are all tentacles on the same occtopus cheapo shopping site/community.
@Kidsandliz My quoted comment is predictive of your point of view. I am making the same point you are. The use case of buying from a TV pitch is different, and I didn’t expect that use-case to matter to you.
@snapster and some of us are saying we (as unanticipated by you wanna be potential customers) wished that easily finding things over there, when we aren’t using it in the same way the TV buyers are, mattered to you… Don’t worry. I’m done.
@therealjrn I suspect @kidsandliz is, if nothing else, referencing recent comments I’ve made about Morningsave. I don’t particularly agree with the sentiment that @snapster and Co. don’t care about us, but her sentiments about the awkward nature of the site for browsing by people who aren’t on a specific mission already echo my own.
That said, I do recognize that the site in question hasn’t been designed with that kind of use in mind and while it’d be nice to see it evolve somehow to cater to both kinds of shoppers I am glad to hear that it’s doing well fulfilling its original design purpose. It would be nice if I could click a button to view, say, all electronics items currently for sale on Morningsave, but that’s just something that’d be nice to have. Honestly now that I’ve mucked through the entirety of the offerings a few weeks back I have been making do alright with the New Arrivals listing accessible from the home page to track new items coming in.
@therealjrn I was referring to what @jbartus said here and what a couple of others said on some other threads on this same topic of that site’s “organization” from the point of view of not their target audience. If you’d like I’ll make up other stuff for you though. Give me a topic.
@therealjrn they don’t want you to find what you’re looking for. They want you to find and buy stuff you didn’t know you wanted. Same reason stores put the milk in the back of the store.
@therealjrn Well, um, earlier in this thread the GoaT explained it and snapster agreed and politely told us/me tough shit and go to hell, too bad, it works better than any other site doing what he wants it to do… of course it could be that no site does it very well… and it is the least bad.
Wow … why don’t you tell us how you really feel @kidsandliz I don’t say much in here usually & have been blown away by some of the negativity on this forum sometimes, usually by one person 98% of the time. But this one takes the cake. I disagree with everything that was said about morningsave.com. I happen to frequent there almost everyday and I buy a ton of stuff on there and I love their format. I like to browse through each one of the sections and always end up finding something for me and usually buying a second one for my mom and have found stuff for my brothers which I have sent them my nieces nephews boyfriend and Friends that they all love.
I also have found so much for the doctors and nurses that have been taken care of me the last three years that I have been sick and at home dealing with a major illness. I will not go into that because nothing is more annoying than trying to get attention or sympathy from people about what you’re going through ridiculous everyone is going through something no one needs to hear about it on this forum. ( I mean this only to one person … not to anyone else who post sincere events that happen in their lives ) Enter violins.
I have turned on countless friends to morningsave and every one of them love it. Next you’re going to be asking for them to let you speak what you want into the phone and have them bring it to you at your house. Ridiculous. The way you go after this site and all of them is preposterous and Unthinkable to me. I even wrote into customer service telling them how wonderful I think they are and not to listen to a certain person in the forums who is constantly telling this company that they don’t know what they’re doing and that they could do it better.
I have kept my mouth shut for so long and I’ve been annoyed every single time and I am sorry for this Marathon message because that’s annoying too from the same person. I think that they do an amazing job to offer us amazing deals and why don’t you try going to regular stores and finding these same things and check out the prices and realize how fortunate you are that we have this opportunity available to us.
I hope they do not change one thing on the morningsave site because they are a company it is a business they are here to make money and offer to as many people as they can and personally I think it’s incredible that they have gotten all these TV shows on board for their companies merchandise. I’m dictating into my phone and if you dare start cross-examining my punctuation I think I might oh, well I better leave that one alone what I would like to do.
If you have this many complaints about it I’ve got a real quick solution for you don’t go to the site I don’t think they’re going to lose any sleep over your purchases especially that every time you do anything on hear you complain about it. I know that they do not need protecting and that they have very thick skin and it is fine but how come everybody else on the site except for a couple people every once in awhile have constructive things to say and suggestions and you just lay it all out there like you did today like I’ve never seen and I am mortified and embarrassed that you think that you are that important that they are going to cater their entire site for you.
If it was my company I would have banned you a long time ago. I read The Forum every night and enjoy it very much until I come to the posts of kids and Liz and then I quit reading and usually go to morning save and Shop!
My dad who never shops online except for rare occasions when I am helping him. Well he went went on morningsave.com just this morning and said how impressed he was with what this young man and his team has done with this company. I showed him the original then I showed him meh.com and then morning save and then mediocre.com. Not that my dad is the end-all-be-all of judges of online shopping but he is someone that came from nothing and has made himself something just like snapster is doing one step at a time one business at a time and he has retired incredibly successful because of what he and his people that he hired to work around him did. I only bring that up because it is so impressive what this company has done already and the fact that I now I purchased 70% of my Hanukkah and Christmas gifts from meh.com and morningsave.com is a miracle.
I’m not part of the In Crowd on here and would definitely be pitching in more with more comments not like this, short comments questions and positive sarcasm, humor and constructive comments but I do not because I get so frustrated with the entitled holier than thou comments that come geared to the site and to all the hard workers that are there and a part of the team. It’s mind-blowing really and if you’re such a genius those of you that love to nitpick and rip apart such an incredible job that has been done, then just do us all a favor and don’t bother to come to the site anymore.
I know that I was told by one of the customer service team that it’s fine and that they just take it with a grain of salt and move on. Well what I have to say is I think you’re doing a incredible job and I hope you keep adding more and more and more every time I see that there’s a store added I get so excited and I call all my friends I’ve got my email blast list and there isn’t a day that goes by when I see at 9 my time in California what is posted for the day that I do not send a message text email screenshot Facebook Instagram Twitter or SnapChat to someone that I think would enjoy it.
Nothing is perfect in this world and I think if certain people spent half as much time working on themselves rather than going after every other person on the planet which I am pretty positive that they are not just limited to bashing this company only, then I think that this world would be a much better place well at least this forum would.
Everytime I see something that I like on here & especially on Morning save … I usually end up buying one for my mom and lately I have been buying for several others. The money that I save is incredible and as I said I am stuck at home right now dealing with a major illness so I unfortunately I’m not able to go run around shopping. This is been a godsend and I appreciate each and everyone over there at this company from the first day that I ever shopped at the previous company 2 every minute at each of your stores now and I will continue to in the future follow you wherever you go. I am a fan I am a shopper and I think it’s phenomenal what you have done with all of your time energy and brilliance with this new company that you started.
I am sure the haters are going to have a great time with this and I don’t care I have kept my mouth shut for years but no more. I feel like I know some of you and think you are hysterical creative and so Innovative in your ability to even post pictures and give links and those of you who are so generous and always telling us when there are deals for free books or music or whatever else there is I appreciate it thank you. This is my 3-day message but is almost completely reserved for a certain someone who clearly is not on my Christmas list but enough is enough I could not keep my mouth shut any longer. I know you do not need my protection but I am protective. Anyone that makes my life easier and makes me smile on a daily basis gets my vote that’s for sure. Sorry for the long message but not sorry for what it says.
One thing I do know, usually people that have so much to bitch about, on a daily basis, it is usually more about them and what is going on in their lives then has much to do at all about what they’re bitching about. With everything going on in the world is this really that big of a deal? Life is precious and very short and unfortunately most of us never realize that until something terrible happens when we find ourselves in a situation that we have no control of. Smile find something to be grateful about and do something for someone else and try, best you can, not to be so selfish and self-absorbed try thinking and doing for someone else instead and that 99.99% of the world does not revolve around you ! These are luxury problems that we are bitching about and I just could not keep my mouth shut any longer. I’m sorry for those of you that chose to read this that had nothing to do with this but for my sanity I had to finally speak out. @Snapster … you have the patience of a saint & I say bravo to you & each & every member of your team for bringing all this to fruition. I wish you continued success, not that you’ll need it & you have this loyal fan as a lifer … you go, I follow.
@Amila99 You are welcome to love morningsave and everything about it just as I am welcome to hate the organization of that site and wish it was organized differently. And, of course, there is no obligation on the part of the CEO, or anyone else who works for him - or heck anyone on the forums for that matter - to pay any attention to my opinions about that or about anything. Nobody died and made me king.
It is possible to disagree with someone without trashing them at the same time, giving them a lecture… Generally speaking that is the civil way to do it. I see in at least one past thread you throughly trashed someone there too. You had a very nice rant in the fuko 6 thread, at least as long as this one, directed at @natekimh, which drove up the name calling, nastiness and fuck count admirably. And you probably noticed that didn’t go over very well there.
@therealjrn What you didn’t read it? LOL You missed out on the entertainment. Of course it landed in my inbox too. It was a spectacular, 4.5 star trashing, mostly of me (mixed in with her love of morningsave), ending with calling me self centered, self absorbed and giving me a lecture on how I should help others…
Hmm I bet if you had read that rant first maybe you wouldn’t have nominated me for goat last month. Speaking of which - have you been goat? Of course I have someone I need to keep nominating before you though so you are safe for a while.
@Amila99 I’m going to mostly decline to comment on your post because I found it largely objectionable in the way you choose to attack a certain member of our community here but one section did jump out at me. You talked about being constructive, something your diatribe here decidedly was not, and I got the distinct impression that you seemed to feel that being blindly supportive is in some way constructive. In point of fact being blindly supportive is the direct opposite.
Criticism is as important, if not more so, than compliments. I don’t mean the “your site sucks balls” garbage, that’s useless, but constructive criticism like “as this type of shopper I find your site hard to use for X reason” is vital to the long term success of a company. If you’re 100% happy with what Mediocre has created at Morningsave and wouldn’t change a thing, that’s great, and I’ll even give you that some people aren’t the greatest at articulating their feelings in a super constructive manner, but don’t for a second blow smoke up your own ass thinking that your approach of being exclusively complimentary is somehow the best or only way people should react because it’s not.
Huh. Whenever I try to look at morningsave I get repulsed so quickly that I don’t even remember what it was that I didn’t like about the site. (We’re talking 1-5 seconds here, not quite joking.)
Somebody must be doing something right. That site is screaming … well, it’s screaming something.
@f00l thinking about it a little more, it reminds me a little of affiliate link SEO spam pages, if you’ve ever come across those. Something like that. (Or maybe those sketchy dropshippers.)
Being someone who practically lives on the web, I get an overwhelming urge, Pavlovian-like, to close the tab when I see a page that seems organized around that kind of pattern.
It’s like that time when a site hid a download link where banner ads would normally go, and I spent a good 10 minutes clicking around, unable to find the link.
It might make sense that the target crowd would be susceptible to, maybe unfamiliar with, those kinds of pages. Maybe the same design forces that shape the one kind of page also shape the other.
@InnocuousFarmer I think their customers are folks who watch, say, Steve Harvey on TV, see the cool piece of crap they are demonstrating, and want to buy it. They go to Morningsave, click on Steve Harvey, and find it. Boom, a sale. The forums over there are full of people who can’t seem to navigate anything.
@InnocuousFarmer What the hell is TheReal, TheDailyBuzz, eXtra, Steve, TheTalk, and CrimeWatch anyway? Are these channels? Shows on major networks? Or just some of the shitty channels you get when folks pay for 500 channels of shit? So confused…
I think their customers are folks who watch, say, Steve Harvey on TV, see the cool piece of crap they are demonstrating, and want to buy it. They go to Morningsave, click on Steve Harvey, and find it. Boom, a sale.
That’s an excellent summary of what we’re trying to solve for. You start with someone watching their favorite daytime TV show like this:
They don’t know anything about MorningSave. They just want to buy that train the lady got for free for tying a stranger’s shoes with over mitts.
So they go to MorningSave and hopefully see this:
Some traditional ecommerce store where you need to navigate around by departments or categories wouldn’t work nearly as well.
The forums over there are full of people who can’t seem to navigate anything.
Which is why we’re adding search. Eventually we’ll put a big search bar on every MorningSave page when we redesign the header. If our potential customer from TV somehow missed the photo of the train on the homepage they’ll hopefully search for train and see this:
It’s such a different site over at MorningSave we don’t expect anyone from Meh to follow along, but it’s nice to hear that @Amila99 is recommending it to friends, and it’s nice to see this discussion happening.
For those VMP members who care, we’ve opened up the MorningSave search in a secret beta on the market page here: https://morningsave.com/market
@shawn even though it is long, being able to scroll down all the products to see what you have there rather than have to deal with the moving target boxes that shift where they are makes it easier to at least see what is there. If you end up with hundreds of products then that will be overwhelming but at least from my point of view this is easier right now. Be even nicer if you had hidden (so as not to confuse your tv folks - maybe just choice in a menu bar that you’d have to purposely choose) interface that divides by category of product. This is at least an improvement to quickly see all the products. Thanks.
Phew. Thought it was going to be worse.
@rustyh3 Here’s a quick couple of deals. MS may have more, I dunno, there is no search function:

@djslack excellent summary. It’s such a different use case that I don’t expect any one here to care.
I could even make a shocking claim that it is the best in class site from a performance to goal perspective.
@snapster Oh, but you know we’re a caring bunch. I don’t doubt that your claim is true. The design/ux is a significant departure from a traditional shopping site and I don’t expect that happened by accident.

@Amila99 Well said.
/image Sheesh.

@Amila99 Do what?

/giphy wall of text
@jbartus
Nicely put.
@f00l I try, I really do.
/image high road

@Amila99 You are my hero.
@Barney I think @f00l has a competitor for really long posts.
@RiotDemon Sometimes I guess it just builds up until you gotta say what you gotta say.
Huh. Whenever I try to look at morningsave I get repulsed so quickly that I don’t even remember what it was that I didn’t like about the site. (We’re talking 1-5 seconds here, not quite joking.)
Somebody must be doing something right. That site is screaming … well, it’s screaming something.
Under-conscious ultrasonic messages, probably.
@InnocuousFarmer
It’s speaking well to the habitués of daytime non-political gabfest television.
I guess that’s not us.
I worked like a category system or site search over there also.
But if a site is for a group, and plays well to that group, cool.
And, in this case, quite innovative.
@sammydog01 agreed, it’s like HSN or QVC in a curated form with celebrity endorsements.
@caffeineguy daytime television shows.
@sammydog01 said:

But, @sammydog also said:
Which is why we’re adding search. Eventually we’ll put a big search bar on every MorningSave page when we redesign the header. If our potential customer from TV somehow missed the photo of the train on the homepage they’ll hopefully search for

train
and see this:It’s such a different site over at MorningSave we don’t expect anyone from Meh to follow along, but it’s nice to hear that @Amila99 is recommending it to friends, and it’s nice to see this discussion happening.
For those VMP members who care, we’ve opened up the MorningSave search in a secret beta on the market page here: https://morningsave.com/market
@shawn You’re a good guy, @shawn, in more ways than one.
@shawn I like it ☻
It does not show on my mobile browser. When I request desktop, it looks good.
@shawn Thanks!
Thanks.
@shawn welp, that crashed my browser completely. Looked good for about half a sec.
@shawn I like the search feature. I bought a pair of headphones I found testing it out. Dammit.
@shawn Thanks for that link. I’ve seen something there cheaper than I bought it at Meh!
