@ruouttaurmind: I bought a devo f12e!
1@ruouttaurmind - thanks to you, I bought a used devo f12e for $160. What do I need to look out for? I got the receiver for it as well (rx705). How did I do on the price?
I'm not sure how i'm gonna get it to work, but I'll worry about that later.

@garyhgaryh It looks so happy. :)
Dude, you did VERY well! Wow! AND it included the RX? Damn good price! There's tons of info on the interwebs about "upgrading" the DJI RX to other brands, plus some that are specific to the F12e. From what I've read, it's not terribly complex. I'd have to read a bit more, but I believe you can enable telemetry data with very little effort. It's (telemetry) integrated on the Tali with the same TX/RX combo.
Here's a link to the full manual in PDF.
First thing you'll want to do is test the kit and make sure it's talking. If you have a spare servo laying around, you can connect it directly to the RX. If not, you can use a multimeter and test for signals on the various channels. The link above has a full wiring diagram and info for the RX as well as the TX.
The VRX should be able to link up with your existing VTX without any effort. It does the standard 32ch VRX.
That's freakin' awesome! I'd have grabbed that deal in a heartbeat! Any idea what it was pulled from?
One of the key features of that TX... you can program it to bind with... maybe 160? different RX. Then use the function buttons to select which profile you're using without having to reprogram each time you switch.
Nice find!
@ruouttaurmind The deal was that his friend sold it to him for $75 since his friend upgraded and didn't need the f12e anymore. I told him I'll buy it for $150 so we agreed $160 with shipping. He tested it via skype and showed me the servos were working. I'm hoping there's nothing wrong with it.. It comes with the rx705 receiver. Can't wait to get it (suppose to be here on Monday).
@ruouttaurmind Thanks for the manual. I searched all night for someone that integrated the remote with the phantom but couldn't find any. I did hear that if I use this remote to not turn it off else failsafe will not be activated (that's the only caveot that I've read about).
Oh, BTW, the F12e has a video-out port you can use to connect to aux. display, DVR, etc.
@ruouttaurmind The guy was going to sell me his walkera goggles for $70. Should I have gone for that?
@garyhgaryh I'm assuming at that price they're the original FPV 1 model without RX. I don't recall what they sold for originally, but $70 to add FPV goggles is a pretty good deal. You can plug them right into the F12e, or even your existing VRX.
@ruouttaurmind I guess I should have gotten the goggles as well :(.
@garyhgaryh Check with your pal. Maybe not to late to throw 'em in the box?
@ruouttaurmind He sent it right before 5pm texas time. :( Oh, he got it from a friend who had a tali h500.
@garyhgaryh "HAD?" [gulp] Dare I ask what became of it?
@garyhgaryh Oh, PS: Check out this opensource firmware mod for the Devo TX's http://www.deviationtx.com/
@ruouttaurmind sorry i think I misspoke. He upgraded the radio. I'm not sure why I said 'had'. sorry dude!
@ruouttaurmind nice. the opensource firmware will support 12/12s. Is the 12e implied when "12" is mentioned?
@garyhgaryh I wonder what radio he upgraded to? I can't imagine anyone could cram more capability and controls into a radio and still remember what all the bits do! LOL! On the opensource firmware... I haven't modded anything yet, but I spent the better part of a Saturday reading the threads and all the info and I believe the 12e is fully supported.
Hey guys, I got my f12e! It's awesome. It looks like a minicomputer with all those menu options. I turned on my phantom and couldn't get the video to work, then realize I forgot to turn on my gopro. I had to figure out how to switch the channels, but figured it out after a few minutes and was able to get video from my vtx connected to the p1.1.1! Sweet! With this remote, I have more channels so I can control the roll on my gimbal if I wanted.
@garyhgaryh It's freakin' huge, innit. It's like twice the size of the DJI TX. It's a 12 channel TX so you can support a TON of stuff with with bigger RX. Gear, lighting, all 3 axis of the gimbal, plus all the PWM stuff with the switches.
