RIP Mehstalker
63I have finally pulled the plug on MehStalker (and Wootstalker). It is officially retired. I find my self with less and less time to maintain it, and it was no longer a reliable source for up to date deals. The little time I do have now goes to my kids/family, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thank you all for the continued support, referrals, and good times. I’ll still be around, and maybe even occasionally buy a thing or two.

I will be sorry to see it go but certainly understand why focusing your energies on family matters. Thank you for maintaining this free service for all these years.
Thanks for all your work on that - for awhile it was actually a main tool we used in-house, until we built our own version that could pull directly from our own sources.
We actually still call that query Mehstalker in your honor.
Thank you for keeping it running for so long!
Thr end of an Era! Thank you for all you did and enjoy your family time.
/giphy thanks for the memories
What everyone else said. But double.
@shahnm Triple!
@shahnm OH MY GOD THEY KILLED MEHSTALKER!!!
@yakkoTDI Meh - at least they left Glen alone…
Thanks for all you did for all these years.
Enjoy your time and family…
Sigh… Another one bites the dust.
I’m also firmly in the mehstalker as a “daily check app” camp. As someone who retired within the last couple of months I can understand your desire to move on and focus your energies on other things. Thanks again for all the hard work and backend labors you produced to make this/these product(s) possible and practical!
You are definitely a
Will definitely miss you, but do sincerely thank you for making the searches available! And have to admit I agree with your priorities.
Thanks for a good run, and you’ve got your priorities straight.
guess we gotta do our part to touch grass and engage with real people in the real world and do actual real life stalking.*
a good meh stalking run!
*no don’t do that
Thanks for the cool project! It was really fun to watch actually.
and sadly, this is the first I’ve heard of it… a sincere ‘thank you’ goes to you anyway. my ignorance probably saved me a bit of cash.
You have been so useful to us so many times.
You penalty for taking down the sites us that you have to post in the forums more.
K???
And of course thx and best times ahead!
Tell us what you’re up to now!
/giphy ok?
@lichme LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICH!!
Thanks for the years of keeping it running. I vastly preferred Wootstalker over Woot! itself. Lately I’ve learned to just accept not knowing what they’re selling.
@walarney I came late to woot, and it was already boringly overrun with unappealing 'zon closeout items at unattractive prices. And since their BOCs are even harder to get (for me) than the IRKs of 2021-22, I have no reason to just hang out there.
@walarney @werehatrack I don’t think you missed much. Re woot “community” then if it was post meh.
Pre Amazon the review comments used to be pretty lively and mostly product focused but the occasional sidetrack. IDK that I checked it for side forums if there were any.
Post Amazon they started monitoring and deleting anything they didn’t think was related to the product.
I got a little incensed when someone made an innocuous joke and they deleted it like it was a mod violation. It was a harmless joke but it wasn’t “on topic” about the product so it was not acceptable. people were just talkingb to each other.
And they did that multiple times. That’s part of why if you go to woot there are no comments ever. It used to have tons. Thoughts on the product. Amazon killed it fast. I mean splitting it to 200 products solidified it. But they killed the community
Other than shirt.woot
/giphy thank you pour one out
It was a good run. Came in clutch quite a bit. Thank you for all you did to build and keep it going all these years.
I didn’t use them all that much but I definitely appreciated them. Thank you.
Are you taking them offline soon or just stopping updating? I had assumed you had them dialed into the API or RSS or something.
Regardless 100% the correct choice. Family time trumps internet time. Allowing for some personal time
Thank you a lot.
I used wootstalker daily until it stopped updating recently.
I never actually got the chance to use it. ;-;
I actually like that Meh is organized enough not to need a stalker. Woot just became a mess.
I kind of wish I had something that was local, like a browser extension, that would organize that crap into a searchable sold/not-sold field (because heck if Google doesn’t sort anything in any order)
@pakopako I absolutely agree! Woot is an utter mess. I stopped looking at it because it is so disorganized.
Just realized to ask… Other than the side effect of not having records to confuse consumers about inflation, is there a technical reason why the price numbers disappear from forum posts once the item is sold out? (This technically also applies to Woot.)
