I made the mistake of using a few... left acid everywhere. If anyone else is still holding on to these -- you got your refund. These are not worth it for free. Get rid of them.
@ACraigL I pulled all the packs that had any batteries leaking even a little.. and I kept and have used the rest.. Mostly just in cheapo flashlights.. But so far I haven't had any issues. I'll be sure to keep a closer eye on it. If you catch a leak quickly, it shouldn't damage anything too much (I think).
Ugh, I got these for my mom. I told her to throw them away, but knowing her she didn't. I'm going to have to go over there and physically remove them from her house.
Thanks for bringing the batteries up in the forum. I had totally forgotten about them. Found the unopened package on the counter where it had been sitting since I took it out of the shipping box. The sealed package looked fine except for a few round indentations on one box face. Slit the plastic on one side of the box and peeled the cardboard back to look at them. Almost a third of them were leaking and fuzzy. Definitely trash.
@Piscea I noticed when the original thread came up that all the leaky ones in pictures had a different expiration date from mine. None of mine have leaked at all, so maybe a few of us got the lucky batch.
Our AAs are unused but they look fine so we will keep that box but check them before using them. The Fujitsu AAs that were sold first never had a problem.
Just checked - I never received a refund OR an email about these batteries. What gives meh?! Just inspected my batteries and sure enough they're corroded everywhere. Better go check my gadgets...
@Thumperchick purchased 4/30 so I assume it's the same one. The thread shows snapster's comments. No I checked my spam folder - and did a full search via Gmail & nothin'! Also no credit so somehow I was overlooked. On the bright side I checked my gadgets & only had corrosion inside my VCR remote. But... I mean... who actually uses a VCR anymore anyways!
@Jont It might be a good idea to make a new post about the AAA batteries- apparently not everyone knew to throw them away. For everyone else: Here's what @snapster originally posted when this whole debacle surfaced.
When I first got these I threw a few out because they were leaking at the top. However, as a result of this post, I took them out of the box where I have them stored and found that almost all of them were leaking at the base, not the top. I threw them all out. Not worth keeping the few that weren't leaking yet. I hope Meh will offer some leakless AAA's soon.
With all the people here saying they trashed the batteries, I'm hoping they mean properly recycled them. Batteries being among the worst things you could possibly put in the garbage.
@gpsxsirus actually, alkaline batteries go to the dump, they are not hazardous it's nickel, lead, and lithium batteries that need to be properly recycled
It's trying to escape!

@ACraigL Alkaline batteries are, by definition, alkaline, not acidic. So it's alkaline residue.
Mine all looked fine in the package but I decided it wasn't worth the risk and trashed them anyway.
@stardate820926 That was my conclusion for mine, too. I decided I didn't have anything that uses AAAs that I'd be willing to risk.
Ugh, I got these for my mom. I told her to throw them away, but knowing her she didn't. I'm going to have to go over there and physically remove them from her house.
@christinerenee Be sure to wear gloves and use eye protection.
@SSteve Also a football helmet and a bullet prof vest are recommended ;)
@Foxborn That actually kinda looks like my mom. Her hair is whiter though. And she's usually not that angry.
@christinerenee She may not be that angry now, but just wait till you try to take her batteries ....

bought a pack of AA and a pack of AAA
no leaks yet.
used some of both in headlamps, flashlights, remotes, etc.
did i just get super lucky to not have one single battery fail?
@Piscea Sounds like it.
@Piscea I noticed when the original thread came up that all the leaky ones in pictures had a different expiration date from mine. None of mine have leaked at all, so maybe a few of us got the lucky batch.
@ccanine Mine are Dec 2019, and I haven't seen any signs of leakage. I've been hanging onto them out of curiousity...
@TheLunk Dec 2019 here, too.
The AAs I bought ruined the wireless keyboard on my Mac. Now what?
@rayray8822 I'd contact Fuji Enviromax on their website. http://fujibatteries.com/product-line/fuji-enviromax

@juststephen I think he'd be better off contacting Fuji Enviromax on their website. http://fujibatteries.com/product-line/fuji-enviromax
@rayray8822 You should go here and contact Fuji Enviromax: http://fujibatteries.com/product-line/fuji-enviromax
@rayray8822 Does anyone know what should be done? Someone say something plz.
@EvilSmoo he should probably contact Fuji Enviromax: http://fujibatteries.com/product-line/fuji-enviromax

@carwinew I think it was just the AAAs that were found to leak.
All of mine had holes in them too. They sure are a bunch of A holes.
@phatmass AAA holes, too.
Damn it! I own these and am using them! I never heard from meh about this?
Just checked - I never received a refund OR an email about these batteries. What gives meh?! Just inspected my batteries and sure enough they're corroded everywhere. Better go check my gadgets...
@march5th00 Yikes! Are you sure they're the same batteries? Meh's sold a lot of batteries in the last year. Maybe check your spam folder?

@march5th00 At least it was just the VCR remote. Write in to meh.com/support - they'll get you taken care of Monday or Tuesday.
Did Meh really tell us to throw them away and issue a refund? This is news to me.
@sourhead @march5th00 - Are you talking about the AAs or the AAAs? Because both were sold that day, but only the AAAs were defective and refunded.
@Jont It might be a good idea to make a new post about the AAA batteries- apparently not everyone knew to throw them away.
For everyone else:
Here's what @snapster originally posted when this whole debacle surfaced.
Maybe this will help catch anyone who bought the AAA's and fell through the cracks?

@Thumperchick You're really awesome you know.
@Thumperchick Didn't you learn your lesson when we made you goat for being so helpful?
@dashcloud @jqubed I'm a glutton for punishment.

Mine are still sitting in the corner in the box. Gave in and went to Costco after AAAs didn't surface on Meh again.
@grum You may want to take them out and check to make sure they are not leaking at the bottom, like mine were, much to my surprise.
@heartny And behold, it is so:
@grum Whoa! Quite a surprise, eh.
@grum Nice touch with the Meh. heavy duty wipes that can be used to clean up fish guts, or so the package advertises.
With all the people here saying they trashed the batteries, I'm hoping they mean properly recycled them. Batteries being among the worst things you could possibly put in the garbage.
@gpsxsirus I am using the ones that don't look suspicious and PROPERLY desposing of the fuzzy ones, taking my chances I know...
@gpsxsirus actually, alkaline batteries go to the dump, they are not hazardous it's nickel, lead, and lithium batteries that need to be properly recycled
Just because alkaline batteries may not be as toxic to the environment doesn't mean you shouldn't recycle them.
@PhotoJim I agree, unfortunately since the government decided they're dump-safe, a lot of the recycling programs don't want to take them.
@PhotoJim most recycle places will pick out the alkalines and toss them in the trash for you... since they have removed mercury from the production.
