@jsh139 "water" you think --meh of course .. They "sprinkled" this deal out among the others deals on Black Friday - "hose" knows how many they will sell tonight
I kind of wanted one of these last time it came up, in order to use as a portable transfer pump or oil change pump, etc. I never could justify it. Anyone have any thoughts on other uses for this that make it worth it?
After a light snow, shovel up all you can into one mound. That evening, spray it down with this. Freezes overnight, and the kids have a sledding ramp the next morning
@mehdaf "aquaponics" is a mixture of hydroponics and aquaculture. That is where you use plants to clean the fish water, and fish excretions to fertilize the plants. It doesn't take many grams of fish per kilogram of plant.
In other words, if you use this for draining the fish pound, you can also use it to water the plants.
@mehdaf I bought one a year ago as a Christmas gift for some friends that camp out a a cabin by a lake in northern WI. They love it. It is certainly a niche market, but at least they seem to work well.
@MehnofLaMehncha Didn't you read the hamjudo quote in the writeup? The one where I was speculating on uses for this thing, and concluding with the note that I would not buy this.
One first world problem this solves is showering during a three day power failure.
Other people pointed out that this is suitable for washing pets. I only have cats, so I don't plan on buying it this time either. At least with this, I could do it outside. Then I wouldn't have to clean up all of the blood. It is hard to clean up blood when you are light headed from blood loss. Giving cats a shower might be a once in a lifetime experience. Right at the end.
@joelmw But Joel This Shower Could Be Yours For The Low Low Price Of Eighteen Yes Eighteen Count 'Em Eighteen; Nineteen? No Eighteen! Dollars American Dollars Greenbacks Eighteen Of Them Act Now And You Can Have Your Very Own Shower Just Eighteen Yes Eighteen Dollars!
Southern California is experiencing a very severe drought. All the beaches have turned off the water to the outdoor showers that you could use to rinse off your wetsuit, your surfboard, yourself, your dog, etc. Bring this with you for an instant shower. Aside from this admittesly niche market, I'm not sure who else would really benefit.
@mypiesarepiff We are redoing our bathroom and my wife temporarily washes her hair in the kitchen sink, which has no sprayer. May have future use in the garage.
I can see how if you don't camp off grid this gadget might not be interesting. However, if you do like we do, many times a year, this is a wonderful life improving gadget. And inexpensive to boot. A warm shower every day. Yes.
BTW, solar shower bags suck. Rather than 10 minutes they take forever to reach lukewarm. And gravity feed water sucks. This gadget has just the right balance of water pressure vs. conservation.
@RedOak I used a solar bag on a boat and it worked fine. Heated water and poured it in (otherwise those take 3-5 hours -depending on where you are - to heat up). Worked fine. I used the 5 gallon one. Had hair past my waist. Had enough water to wash my hair and me. Did turn it off while soaping.
@Kidsandliz We used to use a 4 gallon solar shower bag. If you didn't use it immediately after peak sun, the water was only lukewarm. And filling it with pre-heated water was a pain - spilled a lot of precious hauled in H2O. And the gravity fed pressure was lame. Don't get me wrong - it was a lot better than a bucket with holes in it!
But we're now spoiled by this Ivation device + a CanCooker full of fire heated water.
This could only be useful if you could sharpen the pump end, jam it into someone head or gut, then pump their goopy innards out and make them shower in 'them'. If you were to find yourself in some kind of Mortal Kombat Fatality situation.
When I bought this last time out, I thought it would probably be a wash - pun intended - but it works great for the very specific circumstance I was hoping to use it for, namely washing my dog quickly indoors in a showerless bathroom. It is one of those not so common devices that actually performs better than the description leads one to believe, enough so that I'm almost tempted to buy a backup...
@chriskoehn that's available (propane fired). But not for any cheap price like this. And it isn't that difficult to heat water separately when you want a shower where one isn't otherwise available.
@alhall@bitbear That alternative may be your only option now since Meh is sold out, but I wouldn't take the risk on that different, less proven product for 3 bucks savings.
And the 5 bucks for VMP (shipping) here on Meh gets you another month of free shipping. (You wouldn't order anything on Meh without turning on VMP for a month since the cost is the same, right?)
Speaking of VMP, turning it on about now carries thru the Christmas holiday... just in case Meh decides to do another spiff for VMP members.
I'd be interested if someone could offer some real world experience with the rechargeable battery. Is it replaceable? Does the charge that it can hold deteriorate with subsequent cycling? Is there an obvious battery level indicator? Can you use 12 volt as a back-up in case the battery is dead? My apologies if these questions have been asked/answered previously. I can think of several uses for these, but I'd much prefer (possibly, depending on the answers posted, if any) the model that they manufacture of this same unit that uses an external 12 volt power source (to plug into one of my Goal Zero packs for much longer / reliable run time, especially over the life of the device). For $18 I realize I could just buy multiples - but I'd prefer to be frugal until I know if the product will suit my intended use.
@Pavlov Not that it matters now for sourcing these from Meh since they're sold out...
But you're asking a lot from an 18 dollar gadget! I generally find the more things you ask a gadget to do, the more compromises are made on individual functionality.
Since we've probably used this device only about 6-8 times since Meh first sold it in May, we have not noticed whether it holds a charge long term. We charge it up each time before camping. But being Lithium Ion battery-based, it likely does.
Due to the water proof nature of it, I would avoid opening it up for fear of damaging that characteristic. The battery does not appear to be user replaceable. Guessing it is a 18650 cell since the capacity is listed as 2,200 mAh.
@RedOak I noticed the sell-out, they were available when I asked . . . I was going to use them on set - but was concerned about them being rechargeable. After a bit of research on Amazon, I found the 12 volt model. I then found a seller online with a continuous run 12 volt incarnation but by a different manufacturer for $20 USD delivered and picked up a few. Thanks for the input!
@Pavlov fountain pump? I've looked at building a small pressurized system but the demand-on RV pumps are more expensive. Another option is solar heater circulation pumps like this $22 model. The advantage in my case - it can also handle 100 degrees C.

@MehnofLaMehncha The perfect gift for John Waters.
Raining on my parade
@AttyVette water you waiting for?
@jsh139 "water" you think --meh of course .. They "sprinkled" this deal out among the others deals on Black Friday - "hose" knows how many they will sell tonight
@AttyVette This deal is a "wash"
@AttyVette
Re-charge of the lightly showered brigade
Very funny... What's the real item today?
@stoopkid
Only 503 on the shelves. Good call for a holiday weekend.
Have not spent one red cent today.
And today's Mehnanigans keeps the streak going for at least another day.
I kind of wanted one of these last time it came up, in order to use as a portable transfer pump or oil change pump, etc. I never could justify it. Anyone have any thoughts on other uses for this that make it worth it?
@mehdaf
powered neti pot
plant watering pump
fish tank drain
fish tank fill
enema
douche
dog wash
cat wash
ball wash
car wash
boot rinse
ghetto water fountain
After a light snow, shovel up all you can into one mound. That evening, spray it down with this. Freezes overnight, and the kids have a sledding ramp the next morning
@RedOx aaaand draining the fish tank is the winner. It's almost worth buying just for that, but then I can never use it for anything else...
@mehdaf "aquaponics" is a mixture of hydroponics and aquaculture. That is where you use plants to clean the fish water, and fish excretions to fertilize the plants. It doesn't take many grams of fish per kilogram of plant.

water wonderful gift idea -_-
This deal makes me wet
@lichme Here is a towel, you filthy animal
Well shit
Will it work with light ranch dressing?
@medz
Or melted chocolate?
@MehnofLaMehncha i bet hot cocoa would work if that helps
You can clean up with this deal..
Watersports starter kit!
@davebsd um, I was thinking you meant to rinse off salt water, then I read your username, now I'm afraid you mean something else entirely...
I guess Texas isn't getting enough rain?
If it's rechargeable....doesn't it have to be chargeable first?
@eeterrific
Is this like pre-boarding an air plane?
@eeterrific it arrives charged.
Shower?
@studerc Bath
Blue tooth ready?
solution to non existing problem.
Solution to a nonexistent first world problem.

@hamjudo
Yes I did. Was speaking hyperbolically. Which sounds a lot like literally when it's printed, not spoken.
I bet Ivation took a bath on this product trying to sell it for $79.99
This reminds me of something
EDIT: skip to 2:15 (TC edit - FTFY)
@eVil Bloody hell it's a vampire rave!
What? No one else will take this one? OK, I guess it's me...
This looks like a GOLDEN deal.
...I feel dirty now.
Thanks, meh, now I'm dying to be showered in punch. And I don't have the shower or the punch.
Assholes.
Great for post-Apocalypse hygiene maintenance.
@Fish_Kungfu ... or for exhibitionists who're too highbrow for simple skinny dipping..
Southern California is experiencing a very severe drought. Aside from this admittesly niche market, I'm not sure who else would really benefit.
@jdia well would benefit a person seated next to a person who hasn't showered in days...
@jdia Any camper. Well, any camper at a shower-free campsite.
Yeah buy this and then give to someone who was your friend but won't be after you give them this gift-- I called "watering down" your friend pool
This looks useful for any pregnant ladies (me) or owners of pets who need frequent baths (again, me). I may be in for one.
@jbrookebarrow Pardon my ignorance but I'm not seeing the application for the first thing..
@jaypeeh Oh I just meant as an easy way to "shower" after a particularly difficult delivery or when standing up may be painful.
@jbrookebarrow Ohh I get it, just using it in the tub. Carry on!
Who the hell bought the 59 that were sold so far?
@mypiesarepiff It looks like lots of people in California did. Where there's no water.
@tartanknickers the California orders are probably Koreans orders to a ship forwarding company in CA that ships the item all the way to south korea
@mypiesarepiff We are redoing our bathroom and my wife temporarily washes her hair in the kitchen sink, which has no sprayer. May have future use in the garage.
So what your saying is, the punch is included but not the bowl? No big deal.. I got plastic baggies.
I can see how if you don't camp off grid this gadget might not be interesting. However, if you do like we do, many times a year, this is a wonderful life improving gadget. And inexpensive to boot. A warm shower every day. Yes.
And two bucks cheaper this time.
BTW, solar shower bags suck. Rather than 10 minutes they take forever to reach lukewarm. And gravity feed water sucks. This gadget has just the right balance of water pressure vs. conservation.
OK, cheap enough to justify a backup copy. But the order number is not confidence inspiring: deadly-heartfelt-history.
If you do camp off grid, that second picture is the selling point. Incredibly compact compared to alternatives.

Love the gulf livery color scheme!

@jaypeeh uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…
@jaypeeh Jesus Christ....
@jaypeeh errr.. I mean.. we're sure being SHOWERED in deals this weekend!!! Rite!!??
@jaypeeh This made me laugh so hard my drink -- and yes, possibly my innards -- tried to come out of my nose.
rough-minty-oregano Finally an excuse to renew my VMP!
@cometwatcher agreed. Wasn't expecting wonderfulness at 20 bucks (last time). But got a pretty decent performer.
The only design improvement I'd make? A remote shutoff switch at the shower head.
so... freakin'... awesome.
where's the meh?
I can picture the Philly hobos using this to take a shower in Love Park, the Art Museum, Rittenhouse Square, and the SEPTA toilets
Thanks, but I'll use a bucket.
Meh. Not until it heats the water, too. Meh.
@chriskoehn that's available (propane fired). But not for any cheap price like this. And it isn't that difficult to heat water separately when you want a shower where one isn't otherwise available.
"And for everyone that bought one of those Rechargable Portable Showers---YOU'RE GETTING A NEW CAR!!!!"
seems like it should say that.
Amazon offers it in three colors for $20 shipped with prime:
link
@alhall Thanks for the tip! $3 shipping savings. Sorry Meh. Try again.
@alhall That is a different brand with 15 min less run time on a charge as well as some other specs.
@alhall @bitbear That alternative may be your only option now since Meh is sold out, but I wouldn't take the risk on that different, less proven product for 3 bucks savings.
Whoever said dog wash as a use - THANK YOU I didn't think about that. I also like the picture on Amazon of it being used to wash a car. Sold!

Ivation does appear to have a version without battery that is powered by a 12 volt 'cigarette' port.

@Fish_Kungfu No you have to find one on your own. Try your nearest low life establishment.
