Coca-Cola, and what seems like 99% of all beverages are complete garbage in the U.S.A.! High fructose corn syrup, dye, and preservatives all in chemical leeching plastic bottles. Stupid mf’ers.
@PlacidPenguin Should be before. Pinky and the Brain wasn’t in full force until 1995+, whereas most of Animaniacs was (September 13) 1993 through 1995.
To be honest I don’t like straight coke if I drink just coke it has to have a lemon or a lime in it I like it flavored cherry, vanilla… ewww has anyone ever tried Salted Caramel Pepsi!!!
In the list of locations shown in Target’s site, 1 has it in stock, 3 have it in limited stock (including the closest one to me), and the rest no longer carry it.
@PlacidPenguin Not a fan of vanilla or cherry in my cola. Or ginger, as I discovered after spending $12 for a carton of that nasty Pepsi 1893 Ginger Cola. Though I did read they’ve released two new flavours: Black Currant and Citrus Cola. Dunno about Citrus, but Black Currant sounds interesting.
I’ve heard mixed information about whether drinking diet soda actually helps a person avoid weight gain… and that stuff tastes worse than water anyways.
I’d rather be resigned to the notion that I’m drinking something bad when I choose to, and avoid it entirely the rest of the time.
Diet Pepsi or Diet Rite. Can’t have aspartame, and those two are sweetened with sucralose (splenda). Could also say Waist Watcher brand too, but their cola sucks.
@KMakato Ya know sucralose can be bad, very very bad. Sucralose sweetened drinks made by Nestle got me good. Turns out sucralose derivatives act as neurotoxins, in my case causing muscle control problems, memory problems, vision problems, and ultimately seizures. Don’t eat that shit, just don’t.
@uwacn Not everyone had those issues. I have a weird medical condition that is aggravated by most chemicals in foods, but sucralose is one of the few that doesn’t bug me. Aspartame is horrible though, instant migraine.
@uwacn Sucralose gave me respiratory issues, which is also a known side effect. Just stay away from all the artificial sweeteners, none of them are truly safe.
I’m one of the dopes who voted for Half & Half–it goes in my coffee, which wasn’t an option. Boo.
I swear to the gods of the fat bottomed girls that my body thinks most artificial sweeteners are the same as regular sugar. The only thing I’ve tried so far that really doesn’t goof with my blood sugar is stevia.
Tra la la. I’m a freakin’ special
@hakanaiseishin I had to figure that out on my own in the early days of the low carb craze years ago. So disappointing because it still rules out most of the sugar free candy that’s out there. It’s a bit of a challenge to find it made with stevia.
@LaVikinga Yeah not to mention if you go even the slightest bit overboard with some of those candies you have all kinds of digestive issues (I’m looking at you, maltitol)
I must admit: Zero.
Sugar is off the table for me, and the other diet colas taste like something you spread on your bumper to remove rust (although, with phosphoric acid, standard Coke would probably fulfill this role well). And yes, I know I’m still killing myself with chemicals, but not as fast as the sugar (and yes HFCS is sugar) is. Mostly, though, I have been drinking tea and coffee and (horrors!) water lately.
@hems79 Tried them. I managed to drink the lot of the cola, had to give away the ginger. No more for me. Like Pepsi Fire, tried it, don’t have to try it again.
i pretty much only drink iced tap water unless we’re going out to a bar (and then it’s vodka sodas or whiskey + ice). but once in awhile (and especially if i’m really sick or really hungover) a regular coke hits the spot. must be from a can with a straw or a soda fountain.
mexican coke is okay, but a little sweet for me. and about once a year i’ll go to this italian deli for a sandwich and a vanilla coke.
@f00l My BF always visits the store during Passover to buy the yellow capped Coke. That was until he got diagnosed with Type 2. I’m sure there’s a link.
Like @narfcake said, officially it’s made for Passover, though finding Passover foods (especially gluten-free food) for a bit after Passover isn’t really that hard.
@PlacidPenguin
Nearly all kosher for passover products must be marked as such. Passover Coke is made on a special run and most of it is gone before Passover. It is sold in any store around kosher customers. As of tonight, the local kosher store has about 5 bottles left.
@f00l yellow cap is only coke in US. I just had the Canadian variety today, but the cap was not yellow.
@shahnm I disagree. We are constantly being bombarded with advertising designed to influence our choices. And just try to go to a convenience store and find something good for you. We’re surrounded by crap all the time, so we’re going to eat/drink it.
@Fuzzalini, as @hchavers points out, there are healthy choices, and convenient choices. Ne’er the twain shall meet. Not much convenience in my exercise regimen either, but it’s a choice I make in favour of health.
@sammydog01 sounds like something I’d try as a kid. except root beer, yuck.
I got a meal a few weeks back that had that, and I remember trying sips of several different things before I settled on some fizzy lime thing mixed with lemonade, I think. Way too many choices, even just the caffeine free section.
@sammydog01 I haven’t tried any of the Olympic flavors. Not really drinking much soda these days, though I did discover Wendy’s has a few of their flavors.
@PlacidPenguin I hate it when that happens. you really need to go when you have time to play with the machine- that’s the fun part. Try a bunch of random things, don’t worry about the dirty looks you get. That’s what I do anyway.
@ELUNO it’s probably been about 20 years since I’ve been there. I thought it was pretty cool in the one room where the soda shot through the air into your glass.
@ELUNO I tried to look it up. It was in the tasting room. I watched that entire video and it wasn’t there, so I’m assuming they removed it. I also don’t remember that many choices.
@RiotDemon They have a section for like every continent. There’s a lot to try for sure but I was sick of it way before I got to try all the ones I wanted.
@lseeber I drank Diet Coke for 15+ years, but my wife convinced me that the artificial sweeteners and chemicals were worse by far than sugar. So I switched, gained weight, and now am about halfway down the path of getting off them entirely.
I love Coke. I’m going to miss it. And my dentist keeps yelling at me if I drink (no extra sugar even!) fruit drinks so there’s no decent replacement.
Vanilla Coke, if I’m feeling decadent.
and by real I mean any not made in the usa… ya know with real sugar so it isn’t some reformulated formula to bribe corn growers for political favors.
@thismyusername Mexican Coca-Cola! The taste is SO DIFFERENT from American Coke.
@LaVikinga and canadian coke, and uk coke, and oh yea pretty much every country other than the usa coke…
Soy or Whey?
@shahnm Yo no soy no whey, senor!
Real!
@mfladd Good thing there wasn’t real sugar in there to spoil that body.
@mfladd Now I want to try a spot of milk in my Coke for some reason…
@PocketBrain
Mountain Dew Throwback
Coca-Cola, and what seems like 99% of all beverages are complete garbage in the U.S.A.! High fructose corn syrup, dye, and preservatives all in chemical leeching plastic bottles. Stupid mf’ers.
Root beer; any brand, I’m not picky. All colas taste like ass.
Mexican Coke; it uses cane sugar instead of HFCS.
/image Mexican Coca-Cola
@narfcake Pepsi has a real sugar variety, as does Mountain Dew. I much prefer the real sugar.
@ruouttaurmind Ditto. When given the option, this is my choice too.
(@narfcake - Did I miss any?)
@PlacidPenguin That should be it.
FWIW, The Brain does an excellent belch too.
(In case you didn’t know, Maurice LaMarche does The Great Wakkorotti.)
@narfcake
Was that before or after the appearance of Larry?
@PlacidPenguin Should be before. Pinky and the Brain wasn’t in full force until 1995+, whereas most of Animaniacs was (September 13) 1993 through 1995.
@PlacidPenguin They used pitch correction. How disappointing.
Coke is gross. Dr Pepper or a good root beer please.
@luvche21
Why does Cherry have a question mark?
To be honest I don’t like straight coke if I drink just coke it has to have a lemon or a lime in it I like it flavored cherry, vanilla… ewww has anyone ever tried Salted Caramel Pepsi!!!
@ragingredd sounds gross!
@ragingredd a salted caramel root beer is hit or miss, so I don’t imagine the Pepsi version would be any good…
@luvche21 I’m a sucker for “limited edition” flavours. Now I wanna find some!
@ruouttaurmind
It’s odd. The closet store to me shows it in limited stock, but applying filter to show in stock stores removes it from the list.
https://www.target.com/p/pepsi-salted-caramel-20-fl-oz-bottle/-/A-52931874?lnk=fiatsCookie
I don’t pass by the Target location though.
@PlacidPenguin I wonder if Brickseek is better at finding stock than Target’s own system?
@ruouttaurmind
In the list of locations shown in Target’s site, 1 has it in stock, 3 have it in limited stock (including the closest one to me), and the rest no longer carry it.
Oh well, I’ll get Vanilla Coke.
@ruouttaurmind
How about Coke in your vanilla?
@PlacidPenguin
I avoid Coke, whether it’s in vanilla, chocolate or spam fritters. My stomach is a Coke-free zone!
@ruouttaurmind
Tell ya what, if anybody forces cans or bottles on you, I’ll make the ultimate sacrifice and drink it for you.
@PlacidPenguin
You forgot vanilla.
I’ve heard mixed information about whether drinking diet soda actually helps a person avoid weight gain… and that stuff tastes worse than water anyways.
I’d rather be resigned to the notion that I’m drinking something bad when I choose to, and avoid it entirely the rest of the time.

Tra la la. I’m a freakin’ special
@LaVikinga That’s because zero calorie sweetener does not mean zero glycemic index, and stevia is zero glycemic index.
@hakanaiseishin Haribo Sugar Free Gummi Death Bears!
I must admit: Zero.

Can’t handle it straight - I only drink cola cut with Myers’s dark rum and lime.
Puh. Pepsi, bitches! Nectar of the Gods!
@ruouttaurmind
Just thought of this:
@ruouttaurmind
@mfladd Oh, no no no no no. Pepsi is the choice of a new generation!
@ruouttaurmind Exactly
This:
@hems79 Tried them. I managed to drink the lot of the cola, had to give away the ginger. No more for me. Like Pepsi Fire, tried it, don’t have to try it again.
@ruouttaurmind Pepsi Fire made a great Slurpee.
i pretty much only drink iced tap water unless we’re going out to a bar (and then it’s vodka sodas or whiskey + ice). but once in awhile (and especially if i’m really sick or really hungover) a regular coke hits the spot. must be from a can with a straw or a soda fountain.

Fun fact:
Kosher for Passover Coke doesn’t have HFCS.
@PlacidPenguin
Is HFCS non-kosher?
Is all Coke for sale around Passover HFCS-free? How does a purchaser know which is which?
Just read the label?
@f00l
Kosher for Passover Coke has a yellow cap.
@PlacidPenguin
K thx
Do they sell it year round, at least in kosher groceries?
@f00l I believe it’s only around Passover.
@f00l My BF always visits the store during Passover to buy the yellow capped Coke. That was until he got diagnosed with Type 2. I’m sure there’s a link.
@f00l
Like @narfcake said, officially it’s made for Passover, though finding Passover foods (especially gluten-free food) for a bit after Passover isn’t really that hard.

@chacham
Well aware, but thank you.
(Source: Direct impact on me.)
Sweetened soda is one of the biggest enemies of public health of the last 40 years. There! I said it!
@SSteve Bad personal choices and lack of willpower are the biggest enemies of public health. Everything else is just an excuse.
@shahnm
What about batteries in fridge?
@shahnm I disagree. We are constantly being bombarded with advertising designed to influence our choices. And just try to go to a convenience store and find something good for you. We’re surrounded by crap all the time, so we’re going to eat/drink it.
@Fuzzalini no one thinks healthy options are a right (well, maybe you), but everyone knows health options are not easy.
@Fuzzalini, as @hchavers points out, there are healthy choices, and convenient choices. Ne’er the twain shall meet. Not much convenience in my exercise regimen either, but it’s a choice I make in favour of health.
Diet A&W Root Beer, thanks. Failing that, Diet Pepsi, please. Third choice, Diet Coke, no funny stuff.
Hard to find, but RC Cola in a bottle.
I rarely drink soda. Gave it up a few years ago.
Never was really a fan of brown sodas except Black Cherry. I remember sort of liking vanilla coke. Wasn’t it discontinued for a while?
@RiotDemon
Yeah.
@RiotDemon They have those cool mix machines some places where you can get whatever. Like lemon orange vanilla root beer.
@PlacidPenguin I’ll have to try it again one day.
@RiotDemon
Might be buying some in the (near) future.
I’d gladly send some to you.
@sammydog01 Coke Freestyle machines are all over now. Personally, I go for the vanilla root beer.
@PlacidPenguin for a fee, right?
@cinoclav
18 locations near me, only one of which I have a means of accessing.
@cinoclav I like the seasonal mixes. Elana’s Bobsled Rush is pretty good.
@sammydog01 Game night is on!
@sammydog01 I haven’t tried any of the Olympic flavors. Not really drinking much soda these days, though I did discover Wendy’s has a few of their flavors.
@RiotDemon
Would waiving such a fee be considered ‘nice’ ?
@ELUNO Thanks, I actually remembered but had a crappy day and wasn’t up for it. I watched The Maze Runner instead.
@cinoclav @sammydog01
I went to the place (with the Freeestyle machine) near me which I have access to, and was a bit disappointed.
Didn’t have time to try out combos, and a bunch of the flavors I wanted were unavailable.
@PlacidPenguin I hate it when that happens. you really need to go when you have time to play with the machine- that’s the fun part. Try a bunch of random things, don’t worry about the dirty looks you get. That’s what I do anyway.
The World of Coca-Cola Tasting Room FTW
@ELUNO it’s probably been about 20 years since I’ve been there. I thought it was pretty cool in the one room where the soda shot through the air into your glass.
@RiotDemon I might have overlooked that one, but I don’t think that is in there anymore.
@ELUNO I tried to look it up. It was in the tasting room. I watched that entire video and it wasn’t there, so I’m assuming they removed it. I also don’t remember that many choices.
Of course, this was a long time ago.
@RiotDemon They have a section for like every continent. There’s a lot to try for sure but I was sick of it way before I got to try all the ones I wanted.
@ELUNO @RiotDemon They have something like that at Epcot. I drank a lot of soda there.
https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/07/flavors-of-club-cool-at-epcot/
@ELUNO I saw another video and it said 100 choices. Holy hell.
@RiotDemon Too.Much.Sugar.
When I drink soda… it’s diet. Been drinking that so long, can’t stand the taste of the sugary one.
@duodec Yeah… it’s all rotten. Mostly I drink water.
Pibb Xtra before Pepper but either of those. Or Manzanita Sol, that’s good too.
