@TBoneZeOriginal Balls. I was very much hoping that polarization was standard but just not mentioned. If they aren’t polarized I’m not sure it’s worth it, even though it’s my favorite style and I’m desperate for a good pair of sunglasses.
@TBoneZeOriginal on second look, it does seem like they sell both style lenses. That meh didn’t say these are polarized makes me think they are in fact NOT.
@DoctorOW@jayman007@TBoneZeOriginal I’m willing to bet that they are NOT polarized. Meh would be bragging about them being polarized if they were, because I don’t think they have ever offered nice polarized glasses. I mean… this is Meh that we’re talking about!
@DoctorOW@jayman007@TBoneZeOriginal@TimW exactly this. people have bitched since the first offering about the lack of polarization so Meh would make that shit the headline.
@CosmicTwister@TBoneZeOriginal The ray-ban site lists G-15 as available in both Polarized and non-. These don’t say, but the assumption would be non-polarized, as ray-ban lists the other version as “Green Classic G-15 Polarized.”
The 1978 film “The Wild Geese” was filmed in South Africa.
Sir Roger Moore has said in his memoirs that Ronald Fraser, a supporting actor in the film, gave up booze while making this movie, but Fraser decided to smoke the local pot instead, and was mostly stoned when working on the project.
@Tadlem43 Depends on if they are polarized or not (debate continues on whether these specific ones are, since Ray-Ban makes both kinds). for glare off of water, snow, wet roads, you want Polarized. There are also certain reasons people do not want polarized, however, such as looking at certain types of LCD screens.
@w_a_w Would be interested to hear what you think of the wrap arounds. I received mine today and they are super UGLY. I look like a blind man when I wear them.
@CosmicTwister Actually I did some research this AM on the ray-ban site. I looked up specifically the Green Classic G-15 (because that is one of the lens tints I like). On the ray-ban site, there is both the non and a Polarized version, which is listed as Green Classic G-15 Polarized.
So is the listing here accurate? (i.e. unless it says Polarized, it is definitely non-polarized?). Or is the listing here incomplete and possibly inaccurate. Not that something like that would ever happen on this site.
It looks like ray-ban continues to make both lens types in the same colors and frame styles, and as there is some discussion here, there are some cases where people don’t want polarized. So it makes sense for them to offer both. Just wish the naming emphasized it more clearly (or noted it at all,) in the case of this site – if it had just clearly said “non-polarized” in the description, we’d avoid all this confusion! But where would the fun be in that?
Sorry, I’m currently located in Ohio. We only see the sun here on July 18th. Its a major event. We stay inside, party, and take pictures through the window. Can’t justify the purchase for one day.
@BrinsonBeck I hadn’t heard that. In particular when there are areas with wet roads and glare. As I mentioned sometimes they won’t work right, like viewing certain LCD panels or looking through certain types of glass or plexiglass. I’ve heard that pilots avoid them for that reason, but I’m not a pilot so this is anecdotal.
Just curious what’s the reason you’ve heard for some drivers to prefer non-polarized?
@pmarin You hit it with glare. When I took my motorcycle safety course, in the course, they warned us not to wear polarized sunglasses. Wet spots or oil slicks on the road have to be treated carefully to keep the bike upright, and polarized sunglasses remove the glare that is a valuable warning sign.
@BrinsonBeck That totally makes sense! Thanks for explaining that. From my experience the best case where I really wanted Polarized was skiing (when I was younger and my bones worked better), and boating/sailing. I actually enjoy them in normal use because they make distinctions of light and clouds much more clear – actually just makes things “prettier” in many cases in natural landscape. On the down-side, I would see the “heat-treating” areas of the safety glass on some older cars I had (weird bluish circles not normally visible), and I still have some portable devices like an older Kindle Fire that I can’t see at all with polarized glasses on.
@BrinsonBeck Another comment mentioned heads-up displays. Though not common in cars, there were even some primitive ones from 20+ year ago. And military planes have used them even longer — not sure about commercial/private aircraft. But yeah those would all be cases where you do NOT want polarized.
I still have some portable devices like an older Kindle Fire that I can’t see at all with polarized glasses on
Your Kindle is invisible if you wear polarized glasses? Wow…
But seriously, if you rotate the screen 90 degrees can you see it then?
And yes, I can remember those dots on windshields etc. when I was younger and would wear "Polaroids"™
I decided to drink the unified-rad-tea (not kool-aid), and go for the rose-colored ones because I need that outlook on life right now. (actually they call it dark violet, but it’s rose-colored to me.) Looks like some styles/colors are selling out. So even assuming non-polarized, I couldn’t resist.
Bought from meh about a year ago. Broke in half at bridge while walking out of dr office. After about 5 repair requests and phone call finally replaced under warranty. Not made in Italy anymore. Vintage pair still good after 15 years. Chinese pair not so much, cheaper than originals.
I received mine today and can’t begin to express how disappointed I am in these. I got the wrap arounds with the blue lense (actually grey). They are NOT polarized, which I was expecting already. The true disappointment is how ugly these are. I am a large man and these are HUGE. Unlike any wrap arounds I have owned before. The frames feel super cheap, even though they have “Made in Italy” printed on them.
If I could return these I would in a heartbeat. $60 down the drain.

Do I want these? I never wear them.
@funsyd Do it! You know you want them.
I think Meh is allergic to polarization. Seems they’re never offered.
@TBoneZeOriginal Balls. I was very much hoping that polarization was standard but just not mentioned. If they aren’t polarized I’m not sure it’s worth it, even though it’s my favorite style and I’m desperate for a good pair of sunglasses.
@atravis6 @TBoneZeOriginal aren’t all the g-15 lenses polarized though? I see that in the specs for a few of them
@TBoneZeOriginal according to the ray-ban website they are polarized lenses on at least the wrap arounds I just bought.
@TBoneZeOriginal on second look, it does seem like they sell both style lenses. That meh didn’t say these are polarized makes me think they are in fact NOT.
@atravis6 @TBoneZeOriginal i think the polarized lenses have a “P” on the lens next to the brand name.
@jayman007 @TBoneZeOriginal The poll says they’re polarized
@DoctorOW @jayman007 @TBoneZeOriginal I’m willing to bet that they are NOT polarized. Meh would be bragging about them being polarized if they were, because I don’t think they have ever offered nice polarized glasses. I mean… this is Meh that we’re talking about!

@jayman007 @TBoneZeOriginal Sorry.
Finally something that doesn’t suck, but I bought rectangle classic some months back. They’re nice shades!
“Theses ban the rays…”
Come on Meh…
A bit out of my price range when I can squint for free.
Luxottica sucks.

Whatever happened to Ray-Ban’s Ambermatic lenses? They were the shizzle back in the day.
Can someone explain the shirt joke to me?

@haydesigner but what’s a beeb?
@UncleVinny Sure.
@catthegreat @haydesigner Beeb or The Beeb is a nickname for the BBC.
No idea what it might mean in American though.
How are these with glare?

@pmarin Thank you. There’s so much I know nothing about. lol

I’m thinking that I might be in for a pair, since non-polarized lenses can actually be a bonus if your car has a heads’ up display.
@accumulator …and since my puppy actually ate my Oakley sunglasses yesterday…

Some of the photos have the P next to the logo, some don’t. Just have to hope the photos are accurate, I guess.

These could be good for people who need a pair of glasses for driving as many prefer driving sunglasses not to be polarized.

@BrinsonBeck @pmarin Pilots can’t wear polarized glasses while flying
All make the same crunch when stepped on. Too much money for that sound.
@firstcrack Yes but you will be much sorrier than with the $1-store ones.

@jayman007 to each their own; I received mine today - same style - and I was pleased with them. Happy to take yours off your hands…
@accumulator meh was kind enough to take them back. Glad you are happy with yours.
