Quip Toothbrush Upgrade
5For those of you who got a quip toothbrush from meh, you can now upgrade to a new Bluetooth Smart Motor. Now your toothbrush can be truly meh-like, because nothing says “meh” like Bluetooth. Except maybe speaker docks, which would be an even weirder addition to a toothbrush. Anyway, this is what was in the email I got from quip:
“Introducing our new Bluetooth Smart Motor. Connect to the free quip app to track your daily brushing, coach your oral health habits, and get rewards (like refills and discounts) for a job well done. Easily upgrade your existing quip, and keep the same great timed sonic vibrations, and 3 month battery life you love. For a limited time only, get the Bluetooth Smart Motor for only $20 (normally $25), plus free shipping with code SMARTMOTOR”
I mean, who wouldn’t want their daily brushing tracked and their oral health habits coached?
Note that the app is currently only available for iOS, but Android is coming this fall. And the discount offer is only good until 8/31/2020.

@alacrity My sentiments exactly.
@heartny there’s no way to recreate the experience.
that was just uniquely special.
i already upgraded to the black brush heads. i don’t want any outside source knowing when, or if, i’ve decided to brush my teeth. if you know when then you’ll probably know where… and my bunker is top-secret.
How long until this is hacked to cause the motor to vibrate at the exact right frequency to cause your head to explode?
China will win the upcoming war by hacking our toothbrushes and killing us all remotely.
@OnionSoup Exactly. It has already begun.

What I find amusing is this basically says Android users have to hope their version of the app will work properly, because the offer ends presumably before it becomes available!
What??? Who wants blue teeth?
@Jackinga I bet it will be a fashion trend some day.
