Edit: never looked up why and would always forget to mention it to a doctor because it is so random. Apparently it can be caused by inflammation of the inner ear, and I have allergies, so probably why.
It’s probably quicker to say what’s normal about me. Let’s do just a few though:. Sunlight makes me sneeze, I’m partially face blind (I do recognize faces I see often, but frequently just changing hairstyle can fool me who you are) and I have no mind’s eye.
@ThunderChicken you may be allergic to pollen, but most people who sneeze when they go out into sunlight have a genetic condition and it’s caused by a reflex action.
@kevinrs@ThunderChicken and it’s a single gene dominant trait… So one of your parents probably have the same condition. Ask them if they sneeze when they go into bright sunlight… Almost certainly one of them does.
@kevinrs@OnionSoup OK. If there is an afterlife and I end up in the same place with one or both of them, I’ll ask. We’ll have a lot of catching up to do first.
The faces of people (usually celebrities) online often remind me of my friends and acquaintances, even if those folks are not as good looking as the celebrities. One friend with a big nose is often brought to mind when I see pictures of dogs.
@RiotDemon
I did not. Very minor indirect strike in that I was at my computer when lightning hit a tree outside right next to the cable distribution box, and I felt the discharge through my hands and into the wooden table. Good thing I wasn’t grounded!
I have said in the past that if I ever got a Lichtenberg mark from a lightning strike, I would have it tattooed in UV ink.
@moonhat I ate shrimp tail & all, the first time I ever saw a shrimp.
Probably 7 yrs old I’d never seen a shrimp before so I dived right in, not watching how others ate shrimp. Tasty AND crunchy! My older brother didn’t let me live that down for a while…
@daveinwarsh@moonhat One time we (organization I belonged to) had a cookout for the Russian sailors (all young kids) on a Russian tall ship. Menu was hambergers, hot dogs,and lobster. Some of them put catsup on top of the shell as they had never seen lobster before. Had to give a lesson on how to get at the food and what the other sauces were for. Language barrier complicated that a bit.
I’m in my early 30’s and am realizing that as you age the friends you once used to hang out with daily and get into shenanigans with will slowly fade away as your life changes away from shenanigans to having a wife and kid (on the way). It’s kinda sad but it makes me appreciate the friends that have stuck around even more.
Also I like to drink Fernet and apparently everyone thinks that’s weird
@RiotDemon every year my daughter asks for a pet. Rat… Bird… snake etc.
Every Xmas I wrap up a skeleton (plastic not real) and put it under the Xmas tree… “oops wrapped you pet too early”.
She hasn’t learnt to stop asking for pets for Xmas yet.
She unintentionally is collecting skeletons it appears… I might wrap her up one even if she doesn’t ask for a pet this year… Just to keep the tradition going.
That’s awesome! Wish I had thought of that when my daughter was younger.
Over the years she had a pet rat, tarantula, and possum (at different times) as well as assorted cats and dogs and such.
I’m alergic to the cold! Cold urticaria (ur-tih-KAR-e-uh) is what it’s called. It started when I was in the 7th grade walking to the bus stop in 1977. Some people have it so severely the only thing they can do is move to a warmer climate!
/youtube voluntary Nystagmus
@ELUNO sometimes I get involuntarily nystagmus.

@RiotDemon I had never looked this up and had no idea what it was called. The youtube video is full of comments of people like me!
I pick up stuff with my toes.

@OnionSoup Sunlight makes me sneeze too, although I suspect it may be a mild pollen alergy that is triggered by stepping outside.
@ThunderChicken you may be allergic to pollen, but most people who sneeze when they go out into sunlight have a genetic condition and it’s caused by a reflex action.
@OnionSoup Really? I didn’t know that.
@OnionSoup @ThunderChicken and more common with lighter colored eyes

I have taken two indirect lightning strikes. Nothing serious. Also, I have been at the exact opposite side of the world from where I live.
@PocketBrain did you get any lichtenburg marks?
Here’s a map that tells us where the opposite side of the world is:
