On the other hand, adding Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice, Cloves, Ginger, et al, which is the ‘spice part’ can be yummy. Add to pumpkin, sweet potatoes, apples, etc.
Spiced Cider usually uses the samish mix of yum. Loves me some Winter Jack or the like.
yeah… before “pumpkin spice” became the Monster it is today, I had a friend who always added a bit of “pumpkin pie spice” blend to his coffee grounds when he brewed a pot.
he does not do this any more.
@earlyre I used to do that decades ago. Before the big fad.
Not exactly the same as the pumpkin pie spice used in everything today though as I didn’t sweeten it . Pumpkin pie spice flavour things tend to be way over sweetened. Sometimes I used apple pie spices instead.
Just a little spice in plain black coffee, or tea is nice though. What inspired me way back when was Indian Chai. Not the same, but the “pie spices” was the closest I could find at the time in a single jar so could use at office.
I tried a pumpkin spice beer and it was just not my thing. I’m not a pumpkin spice person I guess. Gimme that apple cider and donuts any day though.
@Targaryen CIDER FOREVER
Most pumpkin spice tastes like Sweet n’ Low with a cinnamon stick in it.
Pumpkin Spice flavoring is kinda chemical to me

@Cerridwyn I have one bottle of Winter Jack left to last until they’re in the stores again…

@earlyre tell him he should. and if someone asks, just say he’s adding whatever the dominant note and some friends.
Sometimes I add vanilla powder. soothes out a rough blend or one just getting a bit old, but you don’t want to throw it out.
@Cerridwyn @earlyre Hazelnut flavoring seems to have a similar effect on rough coffee.

@earlyre @OnionSoup @mehcuda67 I occasionally like to toss 1 or 2 cardamom seeds in the grinder with the coffee beans for my morning cup.
@earlyre @macromeh @mehcuda67 @OnionSoup cardamom is a very under used spice IMHO
I like the smell of pumpkin spice candles, that’s about it.
I got those pumpkin spice and gingerbread biscottis from a while back. Outdated but Still yummy and spicey good!
