The wording is ambiguous this time since it specifically says to repeat. I’d lean no but…
This IRK is $38
Spend at least $30 (not counting tax or shipping) in the Meh-rathon, get $30 back on your IRK purchase
Get an IRK, experience regret, wonder what you’ll do with the crap you just got Wash, rinse, repeat
As we’ve done before, let’s try a few examples out:
Buy this IRK, head over to the Meh-rathon, buy a $30 thing. You’ll get a $30 refund off your IRK.
Buy this IRK, buy a $29.99 thing in the Meh-rathon. You’ll get this IRK but no refund. Buy this IRK, buy every single thing we sell on the Meh-rathon. You’ll get a $30 refund off your IRK, and you’ll be our best friend.
Don’t buy this IRK. You have chosen wisely.
@unksol Thanks. I lean no as well but we must quest for loopholes to unleash the Eternal IRK. The Eternel IRK is like winning the lottery and getting a check every month, but the check is actually a box full of …
@qazxto bomb/pillow I don’t care. I don’t have anything like this so I want… but even at this price too rich for my budget. Oh well. It is what it is. I do have candles, flashlights and battery packs to charge the phone. What I actually want is something to run the fridge (I’m willing to sit in darkness because it is too expensive to loose all that food in the freezer) which I don’t think this does.
Did anyone else buy this thing? Looking for feedback. I’ve been doing a couple simple tests the last couple days. I charged it fully, then left a fan run plugged in. It lasted about 8 hours. Recharged and did the same test and it lasted 7 hours. On the first day, the display said there were 99 hours left the entire time and the battery went from 99 percent to off instantly. When plugged in to charge it showed 0%. The second day when plugged in it said it was at 35% but there is no power.
Not really disappointed yet, just looking for insight. I like that it showed the fan used 57 watts while running. That is useful info if accurate.
@jaybird 57 watts times 8 hours is respectable… That’s 456WHr, especially if you include inverter losses. That said, sounds like it has a bad battery cal, and if it wouldn’t charge afterwards, I’d send it back. I’d also make sure anyone else buying these (cheap) things try charging them at their maximum ~150W using both chargers per the spec, because that’s a decent stress test. In ~500 purchases from Meh, and who know’s how many before that from Woot, I’ve been burnt a number of times by refurbished junk that I didn’t get around to test in time. Remember everything is here for a reason, usually because it’s a mediocre, unreliable product. Fortunately, CS has been pretty good to me.
@jaybird …but yeah, if it said you had 99 hours remaining, while also saying (correctly) you were consuming 57 W, then the battery capacity calibration is borked; But if it didn’t actually recharge (or the charging circuit failed mid-charge, something totally expected of a no-name power pack like this), then it seems you’ve found an Achilles heel for this product… I wish meh would add a ‘Why is this thing on meh?’ section instead of ‘will it make a Margarita?’ What say you @dave ?
@caffeineguy thanks for the linky. I’ve been able to recharge and discharge a few cycles so far, but what I just read doesn’t give me much confidence in the thing moving forward.
Re:charging them at their maximum ~150W using both chargers per the spec,
I didn’t know I could plug two chargers in at once. I’ve been charging with just DC plug and it looks like it charges at about 90 to 95 watts. Maybe I’ll try plugging in the USBC at the same time.
Followup test; running an AC load of 40W for 3.25 hrs should have drained the pack to 75%, but it was indicating 67%, a significant efficiency deficit or capacity loss. I will recharge it in the morning and repeat the test with a higher load.

@cfg83 normally they specifically say no. That is not one of the examples this time. I don’t see it said. It says repeat. How good is your lawyer? Lol
@unksol Only the best will do :
I’m sure this medium sized bomb/future spicy pillow is a bad idea. Still tempted.
@qazxto Tempted too but already have enough near-defunct older power thingies.
Meanwhile, “future spicy pillow” would be a great music group name.
Sounds almost… surrealistic, the pillow, that is. Did anybody do that one yet?

@qazxto it never says it is a lithium based bank. Also if you order the Amazon reviews by date the newest are really bad.
That tells me they have sat in a warehouse for too long and the battery banks are toast, whatever their chemistry is.
$150 is above my threshold to gamble on it even if the specs are good on paper.
@ohhwell @qazxto It’s also missing the alternative power source functions (that don’t necessarily need a battery)
Damn, was literally looking up the specs on this when a storm rolled in and my power went out. Can I get a rush delivery?

@jaybird That sort of power drop from 99% to off doesn’t seem right.
@narfcake exactly
