@hchavers The Amazon page actually has them, thankfully. Since, you know, knowing what allergens is in them might just be a make or break buying decision…
Sooooo, these are basically Bamba (ubiquitous snack in Israel) but more expensive than the actual Bamba you get at Trader Joes. Hmmmm. BTW that whole peanut desensitization thing is real – lots of studies about the low incidence of peanut allergies in Israel related to Bamba.
@benoit36@TrinSF Just bought these yesterday at TJ’s. They are pretty meh- the extruded corn puff just disintegrates to mush the second it touches your saliva. The faint peanut dust taste is okay but, on reflection, a simulated-cheese-food-substance-substitute taste is better overall. Kind of a nasty snack to begin with …
Got these last time; they’re basically cheese puffs but covered with peanut butter instead of cheese powder. The regular PB flavor was kinda boring, but the honey version (and a strawberry jelly one that isn’t offered here) is good because it’s sweetened just enough. Never tried the chocolate version so can’t comment on that, but yeah, go with the honey over the regular ones if you’re interested at all.
I like peanut butter (I eat some most days). My wife does not. So the PB jar is all mine and no issue over multiple dips without washing the spoon after each bite.
Life is good.
@pakopako I haven’t had the plain PB ones so I can’t compare, but they definitely had what I would call the right amount of sweetness — not so much it felt like a dessert, but enough to keep me wanting more after every bite :3
Hmm. There’s still some chocolate left. It’s not a great size (the 3.5 oz bags are just enough I would consider one serving), but I’ll bite (the three crates I bought last time these were in a mehrathon finally ran out)
@agnesnutter I’m very snacky. Usually forcing me to skip a meal. (3 oz is a sweet spot for me; a quarter pound, and that cross the line into complete meal replacement)
A bit upset these are now $1 per ounce (for the more economical large bags); from a year to a few months ago they were $0.75 (which is still up to half the volume price of a wholesale/sale price of Doritos; now it almost matches).
Ah. So of the four flavors (PB&J, Honey, Chocolate, Plain), I think PBJ was the rare one on Meh. It’s also a nice balanced flavor (sweet and tart).
Of the remaining three, they’re all pretty delicious.
Plain is the basic sweetish corn puff with peanut butter goodness. Honey adds a stronger sugar to the mix, making it much closer to a Reese’s candied peanut butter (sans chocolate).
(Dark) Chocolate has the added sugar that’s in honey, but cuts it with cocoa dust. It’s a pretty hefty coating though. The bitterness mutes the sweetness (and adds a drier feeling to each bite). There’s definitely a whiff of chocolate, but it’s more of a less-sweet alternative honey more than a strong hit of cocoa.

Hmmm, seems like something @Charliedoggo might like.
@Kyeh I suspect he would
Do these have kosher certification?
@jrubin Amazon says yes.
I got these maybe 2 years ago. After a few bites you realize they are Very oily.
@pmcgrane Mmm. Corn and peanut oils.

$1.99 for 3.5 oz at TJs. https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/bamba-peanut-snacks-058373
@TrinSF These are healthier though. The TJ ones have more oil added to it (sunflower oil)
@TrinSF these types of snacks are also popular around Central America. Bollos or Curlys.

@MrNews @TrinSF Well, I ordered some hoping that myself and my kids would enjoy them. We will see what happens

(looking at the last image) Has anyone had the “mut rutter poyts” style? Yummy?
Also, this thing https://www.amazon.com/PB-JIFE-Ultimate-knife-scrape-clean/dp/B071CM5JF6/ was a game-changer for stirring “natural” PB where the oil separates. A few minutes of stirring with that thing and I can effect a fairly uniform oil distribution.
Aldi sells Deutsche Küche peanut puffs that are pretty good also.
I like peanut butter (I eat some most days). My wife does not. So the PB jar is all mine and no issue over multiple dips without washing the spoon after each bite.

“AI” Garbage.
The honey ones I got previously were delicious!! Sad I missed those today, but I’m excited to try the chocolate ones
@agnesnutter did you find the honey ones any sweeter? I don’t recall finding them particularly sweet (compared to the plain peanut butter flavor)
@pakopako I haven’t had the plain PB ones so I can’t compare, but they definitely had what I would call the right amount of sweetness — not so much it felt like a dessert, but enough to keep me wanting more after every bite :3

Huh. That was on April 1st. I’ve been going through a crate (~2 lbs) a month.
I… Could have a problem.
@pakopako haha I actually found the 3.5oz bags lasted me like 3-4 servings
@agnesnutter I’m very snacky. Usually forcing me to skip a meal. (3 oz is a sweet spot for me; a quarter pound, and that cross the line into complete meal replacement)

Has anyone that ordered this time gotten their delivery yet?
@jmrobinett No, it never shipped. I just cancelled it too.
@jmrobinett @robson I submitted a support ticket over the weekend. Caitlin assures me they’re in the process of being shipped. (But yes… Delayed.)
The dark-chocolate ones are kinda meh. The flavor is ok but yhe chocolate coating makes them feel stale and a bit mushy…
@AlexNoVA oh it’s a coating and not a dusting?
