PSA/Scam Alert: Rokus have no activation fee
12New Roku? Don’t fall for scams saying you must pay an ‘activation fee’ for your new device. There is no such fee to add or activate your Roku device.
Do not Google Roku Activation. Scammers have infested the search engine results.
Go directly to roku.com/link (type it in manually) to create an account and activate your device.

SAD. Scammers suck.
Instructions unclear. Paid 3k.
@Rakaim Paid 3K to stream in 4K?
@Rakaim @ruouttaurmind What a deal! That’s a 1K savings!
@lichme @Rakaim @ruouttaurmind you can sell that extra 1k for 10,000 buckaroos!
Has the average level of computer literacy fallen so low that tons of people are incapable of taking a URL clearly given to them and typing it into the browser of their choice?
@lljk I think a lot of people just type a name into the search bar and hit enter, rather than typing in a full address.

@lljk the more accessible and user friendly online devices became; the less knowledge was required to wander into the realm of internets.

MemoriesHorror stories about the typical AOL user in the late 90s are coming back.@lljk Is it sidedeal or sidedeals? mediocretee or mediocritee? I’ll never remember.
@lljk @Thumperchick with this specifically I think it’s the combined url address bar/search function in modern browsers. makes us all lazy and to the uninformed they don’t understand the difference. the average person almost never has to actually type in a full and correct url.
I removed the spam comment - mostly because I don’t want even the username linked back to our forum.
