@cbatte@Kyeh I really only miss snow crab. On a positive note the gigantic, baseball bat sized prawns I had as my last shellfish meal were very delicious. It had to be at least 2 pounds of prawns.
@cbatte@Kyeh Because that was my first and only allergic reaction all I got was hives with an itch and a slight closing of the airway. My age and fitness level probably helped a lot as this was still when I was doing a ton of cycling and eating 5000 calories as a light day.
Since I knew what was happening I have never eaten shellfish again. Not worth the discomfort. That was also the day I learned that not only can every part of your body itch but is can all itch at one time.
@Kyeh@pakopako@Weboh Well, depending on how the ice cream is made, and on your particular definition of “cook”, custard could count as cooked ice cream.
(cooked before freezing, the reverse of fried ice cream)
Lately it’s been beef & chicken but it really should be fish especially salmon. In the Northwest for the Summer, there is fresh not-frozen not-farmed salmon. As I write this I’m scolding myself for not going out and getting fresh salmon more often. Been busy with stuff and not doing much grocery shopping these days but yeah I used to check the ads for who had the actual fresh salmon on sale. First batch is Copper River AK flown in daily but starts at $25-40/lb but sometimes comes down to about $15 but only a few weeks before the run is done for the year. Then you get other AK, and OR/WA or Canada salmon. (don’t want the farmed Canada stuff though)
@pmarin No matter how good it is, $40 a pound for salmon is unacceptable. That’s almost double what Chilean sea bass goes for, and double that of filet mignon. You’re entering bluefin tuna territory there.
All but the vegan impossible meat. It depends on what I feel like at the time, as I eat the top 4.
Phase of the moon, i.e., whatever the mood strikes
The lack of beans on the poll is a travesty
@thismyusername If you think about it, that’s what “impossible meat” really is, though.
I don’t cook. Tend to eat pork most but try to get as much grilled fish as possible.
In order of most to least often:
chicken > pork > turkey > salmon > beef/bison > alternatives
But if health and cost weren’t a consideration, it would be more like:
beef/bison > salmon > pork > turkey > chicken > alternatives
Also consume lots of tuna.
bacon & eggs
Boiled eggs. It’s not chicken, at least not yet.
Automatic egg boiler gets used a lot.

Sorry.
@hchavers @Weboh DUDE i did NOT need to see this
@catthegreat @hchavers @ShotgunX @Weboh if I didn’t see it on the regular, I’d say it was a scifi food

Turkey. Wife is allergic to beef. Still have bacon, at least!
Bacon is highest in frequency, chicken in volume.
Protein shake?
It varies depending on what I have on hand. Never the vegan impossible meat.
I live on the Gulf Coast so shrimp is the most common. It doesn’t hurt that it cooks very quickly.
@cbatte I wish I could still eat shellfish.
@cbatte @yakkoTDI Did you become allergic to it?
@cbatte @Kyeh Sadly yes. I was in my mid 20s when it happened.
@cbatte @yakkoTDI
Wow, what a bummer!
@Kyeh @yakkoTDI That truly is a bummer!

@cbatte @yakkoTDI
That sounds incredible!
So what happens now when you eat shellfish - do you just get sick, or do you get a rash or something?
@cbatte @Kyeh Because that was my first and only allergic reaction all I got was hives with an itch and a slight closing of the airway. My age and fitness level probably helped a lot as this was still when I was doing a ton of cycling and eating 5000 calories as a light day.

@cbatte @yakkoTDI Argh! That sounds pretty terrible.
Do cat hairs contain any protein?
This past month: cheese
@pakopako And yogurt, milk, sour cream, ice cream… I’m glad I’m not lactose intolerant.
@Weboh you cook ice cream?
@pakopako @Weboh
Fried ice cream?
@Kyeh @pakopako @Weboh Well, depending on how the ice cream is made, and on your particular definition of “cook”, custard could count as cooked ice cream.
