Not too long ago I was in a restaurant and heard some kind of crappy sitcom with laugh track playing fairly loudly throughout my meal. I assumed it was some parents trying to keep their child entertained with a cell phone, so I thought it inconsiderate but cut them some slack.
When I got up to leave, I turned around and saw that it was an adult woman in the booth behind me watching her phone. To top that, she wasn't alone, but was dining with a companion who sat across the table and ate silently. It had been going on for at least 15 minutes by this point. I wanted to say something about it, but I'm passive enough not to and I was leaving anyway. But damn, it was rude.
Having giftable headphones on my person at all times would be a perfect way to make a statement and help humanity!
I think it depends on where, when and what kind of music. If you are at a picnic and throwing frisbees it's all good to put on some music as long as you aren't obnoxiously loud about it to disturb others nearby. And if it wasn't explicit lyrics to harm any young ears or parent's who think they would be harmed. Just one example. But I am sure there are others.
@somf69 i love that the still for the next related video after that one is the Indian with a single tear from that old commercial, like Mr. Microphone slowly destroyed his world.
My neighbors had a 4th of July party and their guests had the bass so loud in their car it made the windows in my house vibrate. I went and ask them to shut the base down please, and they did. But then, they all shot fireworks off for 3 solid hours, which is legal to in MI on holidays. My poor animals were besides their selves. It serious felt like we were in a war zone and smelled like it to and I had all the doors and windows closed and the Tv on full volume! It was a miserable night. I was so glad that they were finally so tired to go to their own homes.
Such an awesome way to let people who Play their audio out loud what complete cones they are for doing so. You go ten decibels, I go twenty. Like Sean Connery in "The Untouchables" -- 'they bring a knife, you bring a gun. They bring a gun, you bring a P.A. system.' Or something like that.
I hate it when people watch movies/TV/music without headphones on airplanes. This day and age, I can't believe people still do this. Most airports (Even our small shitty one) has vending machines where you can buy headphones for like $10...
This is such a grave offense that the only real time I've experienced it I was completely caught off guard.
I was eating lunch and all of a sudden I hear music loud enough that I thought it might be playing on the overhead speakers in the restaurant…nope! Just someone playing music from their phone speakers at max volume. I can't even fathom living a life where you think that's totally okay and appropriate.
I am pretty used to the "little kid watching some kids show on a tablet" at restaurants now, but most of the time it's on mute, with headphones, or low enough to not bother me one bit.
I have the best taste in music, so I can blare my speakers without issue. The loving glares I get from my co-workers tell me I'm right.
@curtise I've liked you until now. But may I say--and I think I speak for your coworkers and all of civil society--fuck you.
@curtise But I think you're just joshing, so, yaknow . . .

Bollocks!
Really, just an excuse to say that.

@djslack Not me that kid hopes she is a pedophile!
@somf69 I had a Mr. Microphone. It was meh.
@djslack Yes. Because it did.

@mick LOL noise laws. Loud stereo illegal. Loud motorcycle with attachments to make it loud legal.

@JonT I would pour water on their device.
This happens at least once a week on the train during my commute. Thankfully, I use these
or these
.
It happens too often at work, too. But I'm using these for that:
.
People here are likable enough, so I forgive them.
But, yeah, basically I've usually got something in or over my ears. because people are assholes.
Oh yeah, and I sleep with these:
.
I really hate listening to unwanted noise. It's all over all of the time. Really. I fucking hate it.
(Thanks, btw, to meh, for both excellent on/over ear options. You should sell that other shit too.)
