@OutbackJon@sliksetroc I long ago gave up on VMP. Because of the crap. Every couple months there is something I really don’t need but maaayyyyybbbbbeeeee without shipping. Except if I had been paying for VMP/MEMBERSHIP I’d be wasting way more
Does anyone else wonder why lightning plugs have gotten so wide? Some of them are crazy! This one doesn’t look too bad, but still looks like it won’t fit in my waterproof case. It needs to be original Apple slim.
@elpepe Micro USB is still a very much alive standard. Only flagship phones, for the most part, currently feature USB-C connectors, and there are millions upon millions of phones, Bluetooth speakers, cameras, power banks, etc. etc. that use Micro USB to charge and transfer data.
USB-C will most likely become the first universal industry standard to happen in a long time…but we aren’t there yet.
@elpepe@PooltoyWolf my less than$100 phone has fingerprint ID and USB-c. I’ll never pay $900 for a phone. They aren’t flagship features and don’t deserve the price. They do it just for compatibility.
USB-C is a better connector. But Lord the people who couldn’t turn around a USB micro plug
@elpepe 4 people in my house, 4 phones… all micro-USB and 1 lightning. I do have some USB-C stuff now (laptop, Nintendo) but it’s not exactly ubiquitous yet.
@InFrom@katbyter That one was free if you were a VMP at the time, but $10 for non-VMPs. (which was the case more me due to a lapsed credit card) This one’s $10 for a VMP (which I am again thanks to the Casemates Kickstarter) or $15 if you’re not.
So $5-10 more than last time to get something slightly less clunky, less likely to break (though more likely to lose pieces), a Lightning option, a flashlight, and no meh logo.
So in 5 years, maybe we can expect one with a flashlight, a flash drive, and a USB-C option, which will hopefully be nearly universal by then, and not replaced by Yet Another Connector Standard (YACS). It might even come with a well-known brand-name and neither a meh, nor a pseudo-Walmart logo on it.
It’ll be $10-20 more expensive though. Note: upcoming prediction that non-VMP shipping will double, causing massive outcry and folks claiming meh has jumped the shark – Oh wait, people already say stuff like that.
@hchavers It’s funny they put cable in the name because if they just had a half inch of actual cable in the product it wouldn’t be such a terrible product, because then the phone could put most of its weight (and accidental knocks) on a surface instead of all of that force being applied to the connector.
But it still would be worse than this, that I’m pretty sure you could also put on a key chain, and I guess glue a light to if you wanted: https://amzn.to/2EcqjOT
Hey, I dodged a bullet! Clicked ‘buy’ thinking this was an OTG flash drive in a useful form factor, realised I hadn’t checked the capacity, went back to check, discovered it’s actually the worst ‘charging cable’ ever designed.
If you offered to pay me ten times the asking price to actually use this disaster, I’d still probably pass.
@ELUNO is it a good idea? Do you want to sit holding your phone level to whenever random USB port you find? To have bulk on you keys when you could just carry a cable that actually works if you’re that concerned
@ELUNO@unksol You seem to have a pretty large hate boner for this product but it will work great for me when I need to make a quick file transfer. Maybe let others decide if it’s right for them?
I have a purse. Ergo, I have a short USB cable and a small wall outlet adapter in an inner pocket next to my ear buds, and at least 300 other flashlights already attached to my keychain in the side pocket along with a pepper spray and whistle.
You boys underestimate the power of purses.
Let me know when you start selling a combo USB charger with earbuds and a flexible night light by which I could work on my laptop. Oh yeah, now that would be an item I could get behind.
If I hadn’t received 3 similar items a week ago, I would be interested.
This one is special, as it would be my 30th mini Flashlight but I have to pass this time.

Super Meh
I remember when I would buy things on meh… according to the meh counter it was more than 20 Mehs ago.
@sliksetroc I’ve been having trouble finding some sort of crap to buy to justify my VMP…
@OutbackJon @sliksetroc I long ago gave up on VMP. Because of the crap. Every couple months there is something I really don’t need but maaayyyyybbbbbeeeee without shipping. Except if I had been paying for VMP/MEMBERSHIP I’d be wasting way more
@OutbackJon @sliksetroc Same here
I mean if I worked for NCIS this would come in handy…
why would I want this? a 2" cable?
@rmeden and it bring rigid.
@rmeden @Stumpy91
That’s what she said
So the USB end would hold the weight of my phone?
What is this device for??
@Hanky It’s a) USB A to Lightning adaptor b) USB A to micro USB adaptor.
@Hanky @mgessel so it’s a massive but extremely short USB cable? Wtf.
A USB cord with different ends is not an adapter. An adapter has an active component. Anything else is just a cable
@Hanky exactly…
A day late for the key to my heart.
@pcolachiller Not a day late in central time zone. Right now you have 31 minutes left. Go for it. Unlock that heart of yours.
Not sure I ever meh’d so hard
Ehh. I don’t want more stuff on my keys and the chance of me finding a place to plug this in where it’s level and not damaging my phone is slim.
I have a desk at work now so I have a charging cable in my drawer.
I have a charging cable in my car.
I have charging cables at home.
I have power banks if I’m not going to be close to any of them which is slim.
@RiotDemon Yes. I can think of zero uses for this thing.
Does anyone else wonder why lightning plugs have gotten so wide? Some of them are crazy! This one doesn’t look too bad, but still looks like it won’t fit in my waterproof case. It needs to be original Apple slim.

This seems like an outstandjng way to break a connector off in a jack
@nolrak so the perfect gift for that valentine ex who really fucked you up.
Fantastic item for those time traveling back to 2014 when microUSB was a thing.
@elpepe Micro USB is still a very much alive standard. Only flagship phones, for the most part, currently feature USB-C connectors, and there are millions upon millions of phones, Bluetooth speakers, cameras, power banks, etc. etc. that use Micro USB to charge and transfer data.

@elpepe Maybe in 2024, we’ll be able to say “back in 2019 when micro USB was a thing.”
Reminds me of this one from 2014, but no fancy box:
https://meh.com/forum/topics/2-for-tuesday-meh-snap-cables-with-fancy-box
@katbyter Yes, I was thinking the same thing. That one has a meh logo, this one has a flashlight. Which is better?
@InFrom @katbyter That one was free if you were a VMP at the time, but $10 for non-VMPs. (which was the case more me due to a lapsed credit card) This one’s $10 for a VMP (which I am again thanks to the Casemates Kickstarter) or $15 if you’re not.

I like my order number this time around!
/image glittering-moldy-werewolf
EDIT: It’s impossible to find good werewolves that aren’t snarly rabid monsters. We need more soft snuggly werewolf friends!!
My soft snuggly werewolf friend.
@PooltoyWolf
@cinoclav I just want you to know that if I could, I would remove a star from this.
@cinoclav An old favorite.
LoL @ the people buying this. No doubt when you get them it will soon find its way to the junk drawer.
@sliksetroc Seriously, I don’t get these and I read the blurb.
El garbageo
Is this the stupidest product ever or am I just missing something?
@ParadisePete - You missed a LOT of previous products. But not by much.
Hey, here’s an idea - a thread where we can vote on the stupidest product offering to date! Who’s up for some depressing research?
@aetris @ParadisePete yet people are buying this garbage… I guess they like junk?
@aetris @ParadisePete @unksol and the apple fanboys are outpacing the android folks 2 to one…
@aetris @chienfou @unksol So Apple owners are automatically fanboys but Android owners are just folks?
Meh Face Popsockets
would be better than this dreck.
Not USB-C either. Hard pass.
@mike808 we missed you yesterday. And this is sorta a face connected to a phone.
Is it MFI certified? I don’t need any more counterfeit crap.
@melliott I loved the old Meh ones, but they were not MFI and they all stopped working.
Why is Cable in the name? Did it travel back in time to find a use? Sorry, not far enough, and you broke your watch.
(And yes, your Marvel reference is also funny.)
Who comes up with these things… and why would meh buy them thinking we would buy them?
@lilsrm123 because they sold out of these…
What will those Swiss techs think of next?
I wish they had USB-C so I could not buy because it’s so stupid, but since they don’t I don’t even get the chance to make that decision.
I’m torn, this seems like a really good idea, but I really don’t want a bulkier key set in my pocket.
@ELUNO is it a good idea? Do you want to sit holding your phone level to whenever random USB port you find? To have bulk on you keys when you could just carry a cable that actually works if you’re that concerned
@unksol Laptops are perfectly sized for this and that’s how I envision myself using it. A cable is bulkier than this lol…
@ELUNO @unksol You seem to have a pretty large hate boner for this product but it will work great for me when I need to make a quick file transfer. Maybe let others decide if it’s right for them?
Meh is stalking me! How’d they know I have 341 flashlight-like gadgets?!?
Pair it with a USB extension cable and you might have a useful product.
Might.
@steelopus they have that, its called a charging cable, lol
@Hexxman007 (That’s the joke)
Does this fit on my keysmart?
I have something to say.
@Cythwulf
/youtube Frazier I’m listening
@ManBehindPlan forgot how much I liked that show.
I would be interested if it were an actual key chain on the cable
I have a purse. Ergo, I have a short USB cable and a small wall outlet adapter in an inner pocket next to my ear buds, and at least 300 other flashlights already attached to my keychain in the side pocket along with a pepper spray and whistle.
You boys underestimate the power of purses.
Let me know when you start selling a combo USB charger with earbuds and a flexible night light by which I could work on my laptop. Oh yeah, now that would be an item I could get behind.
Don’t want to put that amount of stress on either my phone OR my computer/charger.
If I hadn’t received 3 similar items a week ago, I would be interested.
This one is special, as it would be my 30th mini Flashlight but I have to pass this time.
@ddavison and similar items at dollartree can still be had… for a dollar. (albeit without the crappy flashlight)
I’m afraid the “lightning” end might strike me.
Place my order.
Thanks,
Robert
Just worthless.
If this had 32 (rather than 0) GB of memory on board, this might not be the most worthless thing I’ve ever seen on meh.com.
Same price on morningsave!?! What’s the point of MEH?
I don’t get it.
Hey… why is this red? The picture is black… and in fact the micro usb one is black… but the lightning one is… RED … what gives?
Now people will look at my keys and say “look at him with his fancy red big ol key shaped thing… just who does he think he is???”
