Phantom 3 and Inspire 1 Intelligent Flight Modes
0I updated my firmware today with the release of Intelligent Flight Modes: http://www.dji.com/product/intelligent-flight-modes
On my first flight I couldn't even figure out how to enable any of the modes. I spent a bunch of time poking at things in the DJI GO user interface but couldn't figure out how to engage anything close to Waypoints, Points of Interest, or Course Lock. After that flight I figured out that I needed to switch into "F-mode" instead of "P-mode" to get the new features.
Had time for one more flight where I tried Point of Interest flying first. I found the user interface pretty confusing. Had a hard time figuring out how to set the radius. Once engaged it worked as expected and I definitely will be using this flight mode in the future.
I also tried Waypoint flying which is the mode I was most looking forward to, but pretty disappointing that you have to fly the drone around in order to set the waypoints. I was expecting I could draw the waypoints on the map. Possibly even before take off.
Anyone else trying these out?

I don't have a Phantom capable of running this firmware, but I wonder if you're missing something in the app? The three other apps I use all support pre-flight waypoint mapping by drawing your course on the map, or by pressing (phones and tablets) or clicking (PC's) to create events like POI or waypoint flights.
Unfortunately DJI's documentation is as weak as every other Chinese company regarding features and specifications. But maybe if you fuss around within the app maybe you'll find a long-press on the screen will enable you to create an event, or possibly there's a function menu hidden within the app?
@ruouttaurmind @shawn From what I've read about it, this one does indeed make you prefly your waypoints. To ovetgeneralize, lots of complaints about how things with the p3 don't work as anticipated/how they used to.
I think I've stayed away from firmware updates so much my fc40 will still fly at an airport.
