Pepperoni Hug Spot
5An A.I.-created “TV commercial” – and I thought the bot was off! ![]()
This is what The Futurist had to say about it (calling it their “new favorite pizza spot”):
A viral 30-second AI-generated clip advertising a fictional pizza franchise called Pepperoni Hug Spot has left viewers feeling uneasy due to the unrealistic, physics-defying nature of the spot, according to The Byte. The commercial was created using Runway Gen-2, an AI video generator that turns simple text prompts into video clips. While the tool is impressive, it still has a long way to go in terms of rendering photorealistic footage, as shown by the awkward closeup shots of customers biting into pizza slices in the ad or whatever is happening with that pizzaiolo’s arm.

Wow, that’s so horrifying I almost like it. Or rather, I can’t look away.
How long until someone tries to make an entire AI sitcom?
@xobzoo Already been done (sort of
)
@macromeh @xobzoo Of course, that was a human simulating an AI.
@macromeh @xobzoo Max wasn’t nearly horrifying enough for today’s tastes!
@ircon96 @macromeh @xobzoo Yeah looking back it’s so “mild” it would be considered an “old people” show. Which makes sense since the only people that remember it from the time are old people now.
But the concepts of subliminal (or less than subliminal) mind control through media (which now includes internetz) were already discussed then, and now are much more pervasive and effective, though seldom discussed.
@macromeh @xobzoo
@pmarin Who you calling old??
@xobzoo Well there is sort of happening on Twitch right now just an endless AI-generated “TV show”.
