Aren’t those red & blue Charmin bears really annoying?
I’d almost rather see Mr. Whipple arise from the grave to admonish the shoppers not to squeeze the Charmin, like he did back in the mid 60’s through mid 80’s

That’s so funny my boyfriend hates the charmin commercial bc of the jingle and he has the same questions about the bears but I love the jingle. Every time that commercial plays that jingle gets stuck in my head and it annoys the shit out of him.

Also, I recently read about paper suppliers getting closer to producing TP from bagasse (irony, I know), leftover sugar cane fibers. Already using it for burger boxes, paper plates, etc (seen some on Amehzon).

Several of the bamboo TP manufacturers also used “sugarcane” as the fiber source in the TP, aka bagasse. I think the “sugarcane” didn’t market well, especially with its historical link to slavery in the US and shrinking supply. I think they’ve all switched to all bamboo.
@mike808@Star2236 There’s no denying the link to slavery in the US & elsewhere, but sugarcane is the world’s largest crop by production quantity, with 1.8 billion tons produced in 2017 (Statista). There is no shortage of supply. It’s mostly just burned.

I think the primary goal of the marketing was to support the claim that they weren’t part of the global deforestation problem to claim being “tree-free”.
Which, btw, is where most TP gets made from. So if you’re going to replace trees with something else, bamboo and sugar cane are candidates. Sugar cane because it is a viable use of the bagasse byproduct that doesn’t reduce revenue or increase costs for the sugar cane already being produced. And sugarcane can be grown in more places and has more acreage than bamboo. If you want bamboo, you pretty much need to go to China to get it. Sugarcane grows in Louisiana, Florida, the carribean, and other places closer and more friendly to the US. Also, less carbon to ship it here since it doesn’t have to go across the ocean.
FYI - the primary use of bagasse is in cardboard, fiberboard, ceiling tiles, and cheap cabinetry and furniture, as an alternative to using tree wood pulp.

Or do you have one of those “prarie conservation” type lawns?
Why can’t you keep a pet cougar/wildcat or wolf who can also think it is their yard too? These deer have never run from a predator in generations, or starved in winters or droughts. You know, like if they truly lived in their natural habitat without the crutches of human intervention.
Plus, those deer make for some tasty roasts, sausage, and jerky. They are highly marbled, like wagyu, having never experienced any stress in their suburban all-you-can-eat landscaping buffet, sauntering from home to home daily from sunrise to sunset.

Here, we get 10 to 15 daily ravagers dropping weed seeds in their poop (sometimes 10+ pounds of the stuff litters the yard). And no predators. They’re all fat and heavy at about 100lbs or so each. The fawns are less, but still easy 50 lbs in a few months.
There’s literally a trail through the backyards of the neighborhood that they devour anything doesn’t already have a 3" trunk. They’re not starving at all, nor do they “need” to feed so voraciously, but rather their DNA hasn’t changed their genetic drives to eat whatever and whenever available (when food was much scarcer tens of thousands of years ago). Much like humans.

I did have a mother with twin fauns hanging around my yard one year - that was pretty sweet. But my neighbors with the “House Beautiful” yard get very mad about the deer.
