What’s in the Box?
1x Base station with power adapter
1x Wall mount for base station
3x Handset charger with power adapter
4x Handsets
8x AAA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries
1x Phone cable
@HutcH and this model uses any AAA rechargeable NiMH battery - nothing proprietary. 400 mAh Panasonics included. But any 2 buck Panasonic Eneloop or Amazon Basic NiMH will work great and give even longer off the base time since they tend to be 700+ mAh.
@HutcH That is exactly why I bought my last set of cordless landlines. One replacement battery was about $25. I got a new set of 4 with newer features for $35. (Which meant 4 brand new batteries.)
Your accompanying product pictures has one that states that Hamilton and Hank not included ( after saying they are probably comparing jokes). That's a "chicken" thing to say don't you think? Or maybe you were just going " hog wild" about this deal tonight.
@nymatsui It's easy to forget that 4 is an 'unlucky' number in some cultures. Perhaps if you look at it this way - there's 4 handsets, so each phone is $11. Nothing unlucky about that!
Have had good luck with similar models; both Panasonic and Refurb. The speakerphone on the cordless handset is very good and the handsets have 2.5mm headset jacks. KX-TCA60 single ear headset can be found for a nearly disposable price on-line (less than $10) and works as good as most Plantronics models I ever used at the office. Batteries last for a full day of nearly constant conference calls. Batteries are AAA size so are easily replaced if required.
Bought this last time (with 5 handsets + speakerphone base) and it's a nice phone. The talking caller ID is occasionally amusing. Silent mode is great. Wait, you answer your phone?
We've enjoyed these as our landline. It's refreshing to have cordless phones that use normal batteries instead of some expensive proprietary nonsense. It's even cooler that the system stays alive in a power outage - you just feed the base unit handsets and it'll keep working normally.
Our problem with the cellphone pairing setup has been that it wants to stay paired and drain batteries - the moment my partner pulls into the driveway, it's attached. Even when he thinks he's unpaired it. It won't let go.
I recently got this exact model. In fact, I got two complete sets, because it was cheaper than getting one set plus one additional handset.
Signal range is excellent. Voice quality is good, although callers sometimes hear an echo - don't know if that's due to this phone, though. You can give a name to each extension, for easy operation of the intercom feature.
Operation is pretty simple, the manual just makes it seem complicated. Their tech writers should be slapped with a web mackerel.
The Bluetooth pairing to my Android was very simple, but the next day I turned that off. When I get in the car, the phone system has a tug-of-war against the car stereo, fighting to be friends with the phone. It's amazingly annoying. It wasn't clear from the specs, but apparently the system also supports pairing to Bluetooth earpieces like you'd use with your cell phone, but I haven't tried this.
When sitting in the handset, the phone displays a clock. I was pleased to see that it automatically adjusted for the end of DST.
The one really annoying thing about the phone in normal operation is that you can't use it when it's in its charging base, even in speakerphone mode or with a headset. Panasonic phones seem to always have this limitation, and it's annoying.
@ChrisW are the speaker phones any good? I have a somewhat similar Panasonic cordless set but the speakerphone is too quiet at max volume to hear the other person.
For all of those who are wondering: I own these phones and I cannot stress enough how good they are! the range is excellent, however I paired it with a range extender
and it amazes me how in every corner of 4000 sqft property they have Crystal clear reception. You can pair the base with 8 headsets total. Heck! I even paired mine with the ones sold on a previous meh sale
I use them with my OBIHAI google voice land line and paired them with my cellphone and my wife cellphone. We love them There is even a great little function that if you lost your cell phone you press a button and the base will make it ring... how cool is that!?
so yeah, my two cents... I wanted to justify buying these, but really I do not have the need for them.
I bought the 5-handset model offered last time. Very happy with them. No problem pairing my Moto G cell phone. Good range, voice quality, battery life. The setup menus are a bit complicated, but I keep the printed manual next to the base for reference.
I am probably missing something here, so please try not to treat me like an idiot, even if my question seems idiotic.
I don't have a landline (haven't had need for one in the past 9+ years, and getting one always makes the bill higher, no matter what the FIOS/Cable salesperson claims, since they pretend that taxes don't count).
Would these allow me to use my cell phone like a landline, with multiple handsets connected to one call? Or would it just work like a really clunky retro bluetooth headset?
@baqui63 Yes to you first question. A lot of people use these these while their cell phone is charging. And have no landline.
Note, if there is only one spot in a corner of a deep recess of your home where your cell phone works, these devices can extend cell coverage to your entire home via the handsets. Charge your cell phone in that special location and locate the Pany base within 20-30 feet of it, pair the two.
@baqui63 Pretty handy way to provide coverage. Also note the intercom functionality. Used it today. Ours come with clips too. Was painting the 2nd story of our home whilst our daughter was home ill. I talked to her without having to come down the ladder and into the house. Yah, she could have called me on my mobile but I'd much rather risk dropping one of these handsets or getting paint on it than my mobile phone!
EDIT: In the "everything included" pic I can see Meh has installed the clips on the handsets.
@RedOak being the super-genius that I am, I decided I should get one of these and and would do so in a few minutes... and then forgot to do so until my phone beeped announcing the tweet about the new item...
Ah well, at least the decision is made for the next time they are offered.
I got one of these a couple years back, and I like it well enough, but a major drawback is that it's s-l-o-w. You want to look up a number, you'd better have plenty of time.

Came here to meh.
@kev you seem to have come to the right place.
it will plug in with my Oooooma? Yesssssssssssssss?
@wew
No, thank you.
I have this and have never been able to successfully pair it to my iPhone. Fine as a landline phone though.
What is this witchcraft?!
Panasonic 4-Handset Link2Cell Cordless Phone (Refurbished): Perfect for the year 2002.
@jjohns71 What newfangled improvements have there been in the last 13 years which apparently are now a must have?
Decent? Refurb cordless phones scare me, since they usually suck new.
Love the concept, but I wish it supported pairing more cellphones to it.
It can only block 250 numbers? No, no that simply won't do.
Good job incorporating "Hitler", "breast milk", and "pizza" into one write-up. That's what I like to see.
Dial up this deal?. well actually meh no! However, I got a "charge" out of reading about this deal tonight.
Old phone batteries dying. This is cheaper than replacing 2 batteries.
@HutcH got salt ? If so, then you could have salt and battery ...
@HutcH I have a V-Tech 4 handset phone set that I was using 3 handsets and found a 3 pack of replacement batteries on Amazon for $10.
@HutcH That is exactly why I bought my last set of cordless landlines. One replacement battery was about $25. I got a new set of 4 with newer features for $35. (Which meant 4 brand new batteries.)
these are some crazy new fancy speaker docks.
I never meh'd so hard.
@givemeyoursoul But did you Meh your pants?
Your accompanying product pictures has one that states that Hamilton and Hank not included ( after saying they are probably comparing jokes). That's a "chicken" thing to say don't you think? Or maybe you were just going " hog wild" about this deal tonight.
Why $44? such bad luck number 4 signifies death,
44 even worse, may I suggest $43 or even $45 is better....
Opposite of FUKU but FUKOH!
@nymatsui now we hear dead silence...
@nymatsui It's easy to forget that 4 is an 'unlucky' number in some cultures. Perhaps if you look at it this way - there's 4 handsets, so each phone is $11. Nothing unlucky about that!
@nymatsui I never heard of that before. 4 has always been lucky for me.
@nymatsui the significance of 4 for me? It is the result of 4 x 1. And 8 - 4. And 2 x 2...
@nymatsui bought 2 sets for a total of $88 for extra good luck.
@ceagee In Japan it has a death connotation because the pronunciation of the number four is similar to the pronunciation of the word death.
@nymatsui
First time vmp makes it 49. Long standing vmp makes it 44.01 to 48.99
@ceagee @nymatsui This is why in the Canon G series cameras, for example, there is no G4 or G8 model.
Why does the specs say 6x batteries included when the picture shows 8 batteries... Isnt it 2 batteries per handset?
@pixelated Methinks there's a snafu in the specs...
@moose you around to check on that?
@pixelated @thumperchick Two batteries per handset, four handsets, 2+4=6. Duh.
(fixed, thanks)
@Moose Thanks for the quick fix!

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Panasonic Cordless Phone.
"Panasonic Cordless Phone" who?
... Crap, I meant Ring Ring.
Meh.

You forgot to list in the bullet points "That if you are Xzibit" because Yo Dawg...
I'm getting a 'something went terribly wrong' with checkout. ?
@Felyne cluttered ambitious window! Success!!!!
I read about a bath in there, so BATH!

@DaveMan2048 speaker phone is excellent
Anyone know how many handsets the base can support?
@caffeine_dude The linked Panasonic specs page says 6 handsets.

@jareza Thx for the post. Sigh of relief I did the right thing!
You have to use your hands?! That's like a baby's toy!
I bought the 5-handset model offered last time. Very happy with them. No problem pairing my Moto G cell phone. Good range, voice quality, battery life. The setup menus are a bit complicated, but I keep the printed manual next to the base for reference.
This will work with iPhone 6 yes?!
@minkblink this should work with any smart phone.
@minkblink According the the Panasonic cell phone compatibility chart for this model, yes.

@RedOak Thanks. Now I have to decide if this is actually worth it to me.

@RedOak You damn near had me sold, but our phones are unsupported and we'd be left with our . . .
@Pavlov Better to learn now than later!
Get new smart phones!
About to eliminate the landline. This should allow my wife and I to answer the phone anywhere in the house. That's the theory anyway.
I got one of these a couple years back, and I like it well enough, but a major drawback is that it's s-l-o-w. You want to look up a number, you'd better have plenty of time.
Just hooked up these phones up for my mom. They all work perfectly. Easy setup and Iphone6 linked in seconds. Very happy with this purchase.
Sorry everyone. I made a mistake. These are the phones I purchased and just hooked up.
