@Euniceandrich@phendrick I’m not sure if I am ready for a wild IRK. The domesticated ones are already pretty unpredictable (except for the disappointment part).
I still have 100s of the TrackR’s received in an IRK unused that still work on the software APP I downloaded at the time. Gave some to a family member but they never downloaded the app in time. Of course they didnt work for them bc it was too late to get the app as TrackR went out business and folded. So is this the same deal? Bc I have to tell you my last IRK was not worth $15. Maybe an IRK w/this crap in the future?
@dvermilion@luseruser Any app that will get me to the point that the TrackR’s work. If there is some copycat app that I can find another human that has the actual app that makes it work but can no longer download, I will start asking around.
@EdgarAllenPope@luseruser Once upon a time I used Titanium Backup, but it’s deprecated and you no longer need 3rd party apps because Android has since built this functionality into the OS (minus the user data; you need root for that afaik).
If you open the stock Android “Files” app & click on “Apps” you’ll get a list of all your apps. Fro. there you can “share” the APK to any app you want (Telegram, Gmail, your cloud provider, an innocent bystander, etc.) and it’ll save a backup of the APK in that location.
I have these. They’re super difficult to open. The pull tab to enable the battery connection broke off, so I had to open it. I nearly gave up and threw it in the trash.
Do you need Find My to set them up? Or just to find them? Apple says you can find tags on ICloud.com/find. I’ve never used tags before, but I want to drop some into boxes when I move. Idk if it’s with a shot on these.
@gatepost1 I bought a couple packs of these last time around. You do need the Find My app to do the initial setup.
I have them on multiple keysets, my laptop backpack, etc. I bought enough so that I have 'em in my suitcases. When waiting at the at the carousel for bags to arrive I can pull out my phone and check the app and see that they’re pinging at some location within this airport as opposed to some other airport. Super comforting.
I also tend to buy and mail items back home when I’m traveling so I’ve added those to the box contents as well, with good results.
i know they aren’t as full-featured as bonifide AirTags I but at this price I can easily deploy a dozen of them without concern.
@visioneer_one thanks, very helpful! I’ll hold put until something that can operate around the app (vs through it) comes along. Too bad, bc the price is right

Oh Boy!! The Licorice and Vanilla Chewy Wafers are back!! Yum!!
Let me know when you sell ones that work with Android, bonus points if they don’t suck.
Great writeup, one note.
I think the word “not” is missing from item 28, which slightly alters the meaning.
Otherwise, A+, would read again, would probably be convinced to buy if I had an iDevice that worked.
What an ugly looking Meh face. (Sock)
Who makes really super small versions of this? My gf keeps losing her Fitbit, I want one of those little sticker guys like in the movies.
Won’t these just show up anyway in the IRk that I regrettably just ordered?
At full price. I must be CRAZEE.
/youtube theyre coming to take me away
@phendrick I think part of the excitement is just spotting an IRK alone in the wild.
@Euniceandrich @phendrick I’m not sure if I am ready for a wild IRK. The domesticated ones are already pretty unpredictable (except for the disappointment part).
@phendrick Doctor Dimento Nostalgia Daze!!!
Do these have nearly shot batteries? Seems I vaguely recall off brand AirTags sold here having that, um, feature before.
@stinks >“nearly shot”
How lucky for whoever didn’t receive straight up unusable product lmao
My first thought Meh had whoopee cushions. That would be perfect advertising for Verbatim.

@luseruser Just FYI: there are lots of apps that will let you back up apps you have currently installed so you can share them with anyone.
@dvermilion @luseruser I have a couple of cases of TrackR’s that I didn’t throw away. I’d like to find this app to make them work.
@dvermilion @EdgarAllenPope a specific one you suggest that doesnt do a full back up but for specific apps?

Cool… thanks for that, it may come in useful!
Wild IRK, Wild IRK, let me in!
These things again?!?! We get it, you bought too many.
I thought these were cookies until I saw the Verbatim sticker. Imagine my disappointment.
Hmm. Don’t have any apple devices so no? But the IRK
(What kind of poor choices am I up for today?)
Apple only so…nope.
Does not work with Android

< $10 … Worth a shot if you are apple inclined.

Sod it. In for 4 packs.

These have the same guts as the other Verbatims, right? If yes, then I could gut the other ones and 3D print my own bottle cap verbatim covers, yes?
Is everyone stocking up for the next meh gift exchange?

There’s a lot of skepticism but I got these the last time and they’ve helped me find my keys on multiple occasions

Android version, please!
there is no Step 40
@visioneer_one
That’s why it’s optional…
Works with latest iOS. I can’t believe I bought the apple ones for $80 when these were available.
