Okay I give up! Morningsave and SideDeal What is the difference and why should I buy there?
8I don’t see any difference between the two websites and honestly they look like they just host previous meh.com deals at slightly higher prices. If I’m in the market for some earbuds should I buy on there or just wait for them to come around again on meh?

If you have PastaDrop coupons they are good places to shop.
With the $10 discounts, I bought hand sanitizer for $12 dollars (six, 8 oz. bottles). And –
I BOUGHT A PURPLE PURSE FOR TWO BUCKS at MorningSave.
YMMV
@Barney oh I burned through those coupons week 1. Except for casemates, I just used that this week
Buy now. If you are waiting for something to come up on meh it won’t until you give up and buy.
Also I always forget about sidedeal as they don’t have a link off of top right corner.
Hey meh you should put a link to all of your sites in the upper right corner dropdown menu
Hey @CaptAmehrican you should look in the lower left corner instead
@CaptAmehrican Scroll down to the bottom of the forum page and click on the name.
@shawn I never win in quick draw contests.
@CaptAmehrican @shawn surely you should place it on the side.
@Barney @CaptAmehrican yeah but Casemates isn’t there, what’s up with that?
@MrMikenIkes Casemates really disappointed me today, I so wanted a hard cider, but the one they are selling this year is too dry. And I’ve got that coupon burning my pocket…
It’s now on my shit list, so as far as I’m concerned, it can stay de-listed.
@Barney @MrMikenIkes @CaptAmehrican @shawn
That spot is to link to the respective forums for those sites. Not all mercatalyst.com sites have forums. The bottom links (on the left) go to the actual sites.
YW
Check all listings for an item on both sites before you buy- sometimes the prices are different.
I think morning save is targeted for daytime (morning) TV shows to have deals for their viewers.
Morning save is great for looking at in the morning… Side deal is where you buy things “on the side” that you don’t want anyone else to know about
@OnionSoup this is the best answer. I’ll wait until tomorrow to order, it’s afternoon here now
They’re pretty much the same, with the difference being in how they’re marketed. MorningSave is still launching deals in partnership with breakfast TV shows, whereas SideDeal (which originally began as a partnership with Steve Harvey, who I think is a daytime TV show host) looks like it’s shaping up since the rebrand to be a sophisticated-looking deal site. Imagine the Sharper Image, but online instead of in those dumb catalogs you used to find in the seat-back pockets on airplanes.
As always, this is all speculation. I don’t actually work for Mercatalyst or have a secret source inside the company.
And here’s some guesses if you’re wondering why SideDeal exists.
@lljk additionally, I get a subtle womensy/mensy feel from Morningsave/Sidedeal respectively (or at least womensy/neutral), totally without saying it outright in this non-binary age. Definitely similar stuff aimed at different targets. And sometimes there are better prices on one vs the other as mentioned above.
Also, I believe the proper term for Steve Harvey is former daytime host, which is why the redesign came about for the site. But I think he still hosts family feud.
@djslack @lljk yeah, over the past few months morningsave seems to skew much more to household goods and beauty products, while sidedeal skews to tech. But there are lots of items that sell on both (puck lights!) and sometimes interesting price arbitrages, even for stuff not on the “deal of the day” (where one site has the same item for 20% less (or more) than the other site).
Those sites are where mercatalyst makes money off of elderly folks that still watch network TV.
Keeps the lights on at meh. Thanks, old folks.
@medz you’re welcome?
@medz I’m still confused about what I should call the powers that be. Mediocre.com still exists and it’s almost identical to mercatalyst.com (it only has a different header). When you Google “Mercatalyst” all that comes up is Linkedin and GlassDoor. But neither of those names are listed on the main sites and everything says “Powered by Checkout.org.” I feel like there’s a name they want me to use, I just don’t know what that is.
@Willijs3 they are shirking the “a mediocre corporation” umbrella company name because it confuses the Wall Street types. They chose to be Mercatalyst instead because investors and potential business partners really respect a buzz-word type of company name.
@Willijs3 Checkout.org is a friendlier brand name for the online stores. Originally it was a B2B service for companies that didn’t have a storefront and needed an easy way to fulfill orders. Nowadays it covers all of the company’s event-driven retail platforms; @snapster described its new purpose in March 2017.
And @medz explained the new Mercatalyst name. Basically, while us Meh weirdos thought “Mediocre” was hilarious, too many business-types took it at face value on resumes and purchasing offers. The new name reflects the company finding its niche and maturing into it.
I should probably look at Side Deal some day.
I have looked at MorningSave a few times and never seen anything that looked like it was directed at the “grumpy old man” demographic I find myself in.
I’ve browsed around them both, but not found anything to buy, and I’ve got pastadrop codes to use on them.
Well apparently Morning Save ships at the speed of light
5 hours TX to NJ. LOL
What’s going on with the SideDeal site? I can’t log in, or even see the deal of the day.
@OldCatLady works for me. Are you using your meh password?
@RiotDemon It works fine now. On two different systems, when I check it shortly after midnight, it gives me the uh-oh redirect error when I try to log in, when I click on ‘my account’ and when I click on ‘see today’s deal’.
@OldCatLady too many people furiously shopping maybe? Does it happen often?
@RiotDemon Yes, repeatedly for at least four days that I remember. At the time when I posted above, it was ‘uh-oh, something…’.
@OldCatLady I had this issue before… Something about how the page refreshes. If it happens again, can you wait five minutes and try again? Let me know if it worked after the five minutes.
@RiotDemon At 00:09 just now, it instantly recognized me as a member and I could see the deal.
@OldCatLady I gave it the side eye at midnight, telling it to behave.
@RiotDemon I bow before your power. What else can you do? I have a sofa that won’t stop sliding off its gripper feet. Can you tell it to ‘stay’ please? THANKS.
@OldCatLady sure. Just buy this and I’ll talk to the sofa.

It’s kind of a crap shoot. Have bought things on all three sites and sometimes meh is the cheapest although not always. I check all three before I buy anything on any of the three. Things you seen for the first time on Morningsave eventually end up on meh.
