Ok, so what are you using your pile of BuiltNY bags for?
6I was on the edge of throwing mine in the trash when my kid figured out they work great for putting toys like his foam alphabet letters in them, letting him carry them around the house and take them on road trips. (He's partial to the polka dot one.)
But this is the coolest idea I've seen yet:
Maybe that's @gwimby, if he uses the same username here.
Have you found any use for your bags? I mean, I suppose someone might be using them as cases for electronics, so I guess I'm asking about any other, uh, more creative uses.

I've sold 90% of them and made a $3 profit... The others are being used for computer cables, mice, usb thumb drives etc...
Mine all went to the AnimalSave thrift store.
I used one of the Kindle slim covers for my Nexus 7, one of the Kindle stretch covers stretched out far enough for my Winbook 8" tablet, the 9-10" envelope holds a multimeter, the 13" MacBook sleeve worked fine for my old Dell D420 ... and I have 66 left to go.
This case fits the core deck and two booster decks. And it's such a lovely pattern.
I am still holding out until there is a giant rush of old kindle models being dumped... and then I will become rich.. rich... rich... I tell ya!
I used several of mine for my camera equipment
Funny enough, I just got a new 3ds and the small velcro pouch fits it perfectly. Wife wants to trash the rest but I'll suggest she use it to organize toys in her class.
@MrGlass my daughter used one for hers too. If it's the same one it even has a nice zippered pocket for game cartridges.
@sammydog01 Yup, sounds like the same one. Game cartridges, and the best 3ds acessory ever the USB 3ds charging cable http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0099HP4OC/
I use most of mine to add additional cushion to my already quite well babied collection of vintage camera lenses. I'm a sucker for really, really good m42 mount lenses. I'm at 86 and I think I have a few in storage I have hidden away from the wife and I can't find them - so it will be like Christmas when I do . . .
I REALLY need to cull the herd down to something reasonable. But I always convince myself I'll find a use for each one!
I'm pretty sure it is pathological.
@Pavlov id I'd say sendthe extra to me but I doubt they would fit
Ours are mostly sitting in a box in storage. Totally unoriginal I know. But after reading this thread, one day I'll figure out a way to repurpose some of them. They will eventually get put to use for something practical. I have one listed for sale that will pay for all of them if it ever sells.
Hey that's me! (Hi Dave!)
Yeah, I ditched the ziplock bag look Stern is using and used all 15 of the padded sleeves that came in my batch for cable sorting duty. I'll need to come up with a more permanent labeling solution eventually, as the painters tape isn't sticking so well.
No idea how to make use of the 15 Kindle Fire covers left. Drawing a couple of laptop sized sleeves in the lot would've been cool - congrats to this who did. Oh well, Meh onward.
I use canning jars for storing leftovers and also carrying to work. I have found the nonzipper ipad and latest gen kindle cover fit those quite well as a bit of insulation and protection against breakage.
I use one to hold cables/phone charger and another to hold my laptop cable. I use another to hold wristwatches. I still have about 25 or so waiting in the wings.
My wife is a HS teacher and has given most of them away to her students for their devices (which is what I thought would happen) - after the initial "why the hell did you buy those?" she's told the story many times for a laugh (which is also what I thought would happen). $8 well spent :)
I discovered several are just right for storing various sized handguns in the safe. With the assorted 60 I received I had no trouble finding a perfect fit for each gun.
@ruouttaurmind time for more guns
@JerseyFrank its always that time...
The make good beer/growler koozies.
Lots of people where jealous of the larger one for growlers.
I got one that works for my laptop and a few that did good for tablets. The rest I sold at Half Price Books for a profit...great deal!
Mine sit in the box it came in, impulse buy for sure
I got 30 in the of chance I'd get one for my wife's iPad mini. Indeed we got 1. It's actually pretty nice so worth it just for that 1 alone. I ended up with mostly ones for kindles, 3 laptops, 2 macbook air and a few generic tablet ones. I'm sure they will be used someday for something.
Mostly cables, flash drives, etc. I've got one that I use regularly that holds a couple of smaller backup batteries (one that I purchased here and another that I received for being that inquisitive customer at a vendor fair at a conference) and a lightning cable. A bigger (but still smallish) one holds my boss size backup battery, cables and a couple of flash drives. My wife's got a few holding miscellanea in her purse.
The black ones with the purple lining I just like to take out and stroke sometimes. Oooh, soft.
@joelmw I didn't get a black one with purple lining. Now I'm bummed.
I love purple.
@sammydog01 I'm sorry. But I think it's @BillLehecka's fault. That bastard.
I was hoping for one that was designed for one of my many devices, but out of sixty, there are some really nice Kindle ones and a ton of fairly generic ones. However, for transporting electronics or other potentially delicate things, they're marvelous. Some may end up being costume accessories bags. They'll all get used. I'm pretty happy with 'em.
I flipped the small kindle one inside out to use as a monitor and ipad cleaning mitt. Works great. Thanks for the idea @joelmw
@sammydog01 damn, that is a good idea.
@sammydog01 I did actually think of that, but never said anything (and I certainly didn't try it). Kudos to you for both the idea and the execution.
Mine are still in the shipping box. I sniff it every now and then when I want to get high.
