@rileyper alright, so I got a nutri ninja in the last fuko (not the duo, but whatever) and candy corn last time they sold it here on its own. Using the recipe in the write-up I substituted the cashew milk with cow milk (non-organic) and everything else with candy corn (definitely not organic as it clearly states that it is a gmo product on the bag). The auto iq did a decent job blending the candy, though a decent amount of tiny solid chunks remained. The resulting “smoothie” was a sickeningly sweet, slightly thickened, neon orange milk. I would compare it to sweetened condensed milk and may try subbing it for the same in a pumpkin pie. Anyway, after diluting it with a bunch more milk and adding a healthy dose of coco powder it was an acceptably palatable chocolate milk.
Sorry no video, but I did find one on the youtubes
@cengland0 are smoothies still a thing? I thought the hipsters have moved on because the meta now is that fructose is not a nutrient and actually bad for health.
@kus I have a large smoothie every morning. Use it to take all my morning pills. Some are disgusting tasting and I’d probably throw them up if I didn’t have them with the smoothie.
I’m sure there are a lot of calories in them but I don’t usually have a breakfast or lunch either so I think that’s okay.
Must admit, I like my ninja and would probably like the bowls/dough hook thingie. Since the one I have is still a-grindin’ those strawberries and blueberries just fine, meh.
/giphy happy-with-what-you-have-to-be-happy-with
I totally want to try the smoothie from the write-up. I might even use some sprigs of my chocolate mint plant. But I already have a blender so all I need is the groceries.
@djslack ok, so I had cacao nibs already so I decided to try this.
I won’t pretend I’m reviewing the published recipe because I would sound like one of those jackasses on recipe websites who says “I didn’t want to make hollandaise so I used mustard and then I tripled the kale and halved the sugar and my kids wouldn’t eat this recipe”. So instead, I’ll document my experience.
I had one quite ripe banana and some cacao nibs. I have a chocolate mint plant that smells like Andes mints but no regular mint right now. And I have some cow’s milk (2%), not almond or coconut milk. I decided to make a half size recipe scaled to my one banana.
I broke out the Vitamix, added the banana, and measured 8oz milk. Then measuring went out the window. I put a splash of Mexican vanilla in the pitcher. Had no idea what a half ounce of cacao nibs looked like, didn’t want to get out the scale, and forgot that I needed a quarter ounce. I put a partial handful in. Stripped the leaves from three washed sprigs of chocolate mint and added them. Blended until I couldn’t see cacao nibs swirling around and added some ice and blended some more.
I way overdid the cacao, and the extremely ripe banana was very prominent. The chocolate component of the mint with the extra cacao means it’s very chocolate forward as well. I added some agave nectar to counter the bitterness of the extra cacao and it’s pretty solid. I’m enjoying it for a late breakfast.
Made haphazardly, it’s not bad. Made according to recipe, I bet this is a great smoothie. Maybe not $11, but I also feel like $11 Los Angeles dollars is probably like $5 Louisiana dollars, and I’d get this as a $5 smoothie.
I bought this the last time it was listed here, I use it at least a few times a week for smoothies with frozen fruit and have never had an issue. Highly recommend!!
@atravis6 includes the lid and three bolts and washers that may or may not belong to the larger set. You’ll have to wait on an estimate until the post office opens Monday (or possibly until after Wed when midterm grades are due if I remain as far behind in grading as I am right now).
So in my fuko I got one of the ninja tall cup things (with random nuts and washers inside that may or may not go with the thing) that someone can have for the cost of postage (it is the same thing that has the pink drink in it in one of the photos).
@Kidsandliz no worries, I’m more just curious than actually interested in taking you up on the offer. I haven’t pulled the trigger on the blender just yet. I’m concerned about reliability.
@psantora I purchased this the last time around. I use it regularly and all of my fruit is rock solid frozen. No issues at all. Fruit liquid nuts seeds and greens every time, smooths it out in a minute. You just need to make sure you have enough liquid in the cup so you doesn’t make the motor work too hard.
@atravis6 do you (or anyone) happen to know if any of the pieces are dishwasher safe, if any? Also, how tall is it with the food processor attachment? I want to make sure it will fit under the kitchen cabinets…
@psantora I wash my cups and lids on the top rack of the dish washer all the time. Even on the heavy setting there has been no warping or issues at all.
@Bumplepimp pro tip: use the blending cup to do everything including drink. You only have to wash off the blades and then wash the cup and lid later when you’re done.
Even with a traditional blender, cleanup is easy if you do it right away. An extra minute to clean is worth the $8 smoothie markup he was paying. That’s $480 an hour in cleanup pay.

Now this should have come with candy corn!
Next meh video put candy corn in the blender.
@rileyper I bought the candy corn last time and I can’t stop eating it!

@Oneroundrobb I got nauseous trying to watch that. Listening to him chug the entire blender worth got to me.
@rileyper Awesome, A candy corn smoothie! Wait, let’s make this better, a pumpkin spice candy corn smoothie!!
Triple N BD, huh? Meh
What part of that burger looking thing could have actually come out of this item?
@norman8 looks like a veggie burger potentially made with the stuff in the food processor.
@norman8 Very lively, I’ve used a Ninja blender to make a veggie burger and it came out pretty good!
After I burned up two Ninja blenders with frozen strawberries, I upgraded to a Blendtech and it’s worked ever since. No more Ninja’s for me.
@cengland0 are smoothies still a thing? I thought the hipsters have moved on because the meta now is that fructose is not a nutrient and actually bad for health.

@kus That looks useless, but fascinating. What is it?
@blaineg Ah, there we go: http://garethwashere.tumblr.com/
Show an arm sticking out of the blender!
@mcemanuel you mean baby arm!! Right?
Bought this last time - used it twice and now it’s a paperweight

Does that 1200-watt bass have Bluetooth?
What’s the difference between this and the newer version on amazon for $60? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KA7VZA6/
@cjrhoades looks like the one on Amazon doesn’t come with the 32 ounce cup. Pro Extractor blades aren’t mentioned there either.
@cjrhoades Biggest difference is that missing cup/lid djslack mentioned that sells for $20.
Model NN101 includes it, NN102 does not.

@Lincoln and I got one in the fuko that can be someone’s for the cost of postage (@cjrhoades )
I’m biding my time until the Blendtec goes on sale again, either here or at Costco.
@j8048188 Yeah we got the blendtec, which my wife abuses daily, and it’s still running strong
Ooh, that sounds yummy. I have to go shopping for cocoa nibs.
(And points for Lost In Space.)
Must admit, I like my ninja and would probably like the bowls/dough hook thingie. Since the one I have is still a-grindin’ those strawberries and blueberries just fine, meh.

Ninja, you say?
@skemmehs Umm, exactly how many bananas DO they use?
@cinoclav His spreadsheet says two. Plus 16 ounces of liquid. That’s one big smoothie.
@sammydog01 I was really just digging at the fact he mentioned bananas twice.
@cinoclav Well he does use two bananas.
Danger Will Robinson! Dr. Smith wants a Ninja.
All right, say it with me, everyone…
MEH IT TO HELL!!!

@givemehdeal
@Brasssong This definitely looks yummy. Having second thoughts about not buying a single candy corn. I will go for blender though.
@givemehdeal just make some candy corn jello shots instead:
https://www.bustle.com/articles/115884-halloween-jello-shots-that-look-like-candy-corn-are-the-only-treats-you-need-this-holiday
Alternatively, just make the yellow and orange layer, and top with whip cream.
@RiotDemon shots have a better shot

@atravis6 If you want an extra cup - yours for postage. I got one in my fuko.
@Kidsandliz if it includes the lid I will take you up on that, can you give me an estimate on postage? My ZIP Code is 44302. Thanks!

@Kidsandliz No rush, I was raised by a teacher so I totally get it (; Appreciate it, thanks a bunch!
@atravis6 I am going to need your zipcode to get a price. Email me your address at my user name and then the usual yahoo
What’s the difference between this and what is on Woot today in Home: https://www.woot.com/category/home
@xarous Meh has more posts on it than Woot Home so the one selling here has to be better
@tklempay Yeah that’s sound advice
@xarous This one has a bowl, dough hook, and extra cup. More stuff in the box. And it looks like 200 extra watts. And it’s new instead of a refurb.
But will it Blend?
@fastharry
/giphy will it blend?
I was considering this purchase but I couldn’t tell how large it was without a banana for scale.

@Kidsandliz 24 oz or 32 oz?
@psantora No idea but someone has claimed it already about a half hour prior to your post. Sorry.

@funkadunk that’s the NN102. It is identical except it doesn’t come with the 32 oz cup. Oh and it will come a LOT faster with Prime…
Never figured you guys for tricksters.

@wambamblam
Alas, seems I tricked myself with subpar research. You’re off the hook meh.
Although the first time I bought blades from you guys there was no warning that they would be unboxed and both lady and men’s blades.
Not bad…it’s $90.88 on Az
Ha! My Vitamix would make a smoothie out of the Ninja!
Yeah, but what about cleaning up all that crap every morning? Your time worth anything?
