@OldCatLady I actually lived in Belgium for 3 years (Air Force). Where I was located many of the trees were in perfect rows because of WWII bombing. Also. say your car hits a tree - you are responsible for paying for it - they are considered the Queen's trees. (useless info, but thought I would share).

@mfladd When we drove through the Black Forest, I was astonished at the tidiness. Reading up on European forests, I found that most trees are less than a century old, products of tree farming, started in the 19th century. WWII bombing destroyed a generation's worth of timber crops. I'd love to be there now, though.
