[Thanksgiving Shopping] Remember Your Egg Roll Wrappers!
18Shut up, this is important.
When you’re doing your shopping, grab a pack of those wrappers you use for egg rolls. On Friday you’re going to dice up a bunch of your Thanksgiving leftovers and mix it all in a bowl. Wrap it up (like an egg roll) and fry.
Make a cranberry dipping sauce to go with it.
You’re welcome.

@jouest Soylent Turkey!
Burritos and/or tacos of leftovers here. They’re easier and faster.
@narfcake This might be our next move.
@jouest @narfcake sandwitches

Yes, much better.
Mmmm, smoked turkey breast tacos/burritos/rolls!
Oh thanks for the reminder!!! How do you make your cranberry dipping sauce,
@tinamarie1974 my wife has a magical stairwell where she can throw cardboard boxes and they will break themselves down and be bundled up for the curb.
I have a magical gravy boat where cranberry dipping sauce appears.
(So I’m not much help on this one.)
@tinamarie1974 depends if you can handle AB positive

@Star2236 ooohhhhh thank you
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Lisa the porcupine has a lot of running gags involving her name or likeness on something she has. (One short, she’s holding a balloon while her shirt has a cartoon of her holding a balloon while that cartoon’s shirt has a cartoon …)
@pakopako @tinamarie1974 Oh, okay - thanks.
I went to a feather raffle last night and won two massive turkeys (they have to be at least 25lbs a piece), 2 big chickens and 2 bottles of wine. I plan on making pot pies with mine.
@Star2236 Okay, curiosity wins: What’s a feather raffle?
@xobzoo
Every 30 mins they sell raffle books of raffle tickets and you can buy a ticket, a strip or the whole book. A book guarantees you winning but obviously cost the most. Then they draw a number for a turkey, a chicken and a bottle of wine and if you have that number you win.
@xobzoo
It’s an old people thing. I’ve gone for the past 2 years and I’m 41 and I was probably the youngest person there. I think it’s how most people in that area get their turkeys for the year. All the money they raised went to whoever was running it (I can’t remember who it was). They gave you a good polish dinner and desert with your $20 entry fee and had a cash bar. They also had a 50/50 raffle and a bunch of door prizes. Half of the door prizes were fifths of crown, I could tell what the other half were bc I was on the other side of the banquet center. It was a fun way to spend a Monday night.
@Star2236 @xobzoo I was introduced to small town life by marriage and learned that it’s very easy to walk into one of these things and end up winning a rifle without understanding why.
@jouest @xobzoo
I signed up for a win a gun a week raffle too, for 2025 (I don’t live in a small town by any means, I live in the burbs). 30 years ago, yes it was all very small towns with lots of land (everything was dirt roads, there were no commercial stores besides Kmart and MAYBE Meijer’s, it was a big thing when we got a target) but the area has grown big time. Now it’s town after town after town. They have outgrown their building but they continue to build even though the roads are so congested and it’s turning what used to be tiny cottage lake houses into everyday houses that’s are now multimillion dollar lake permanent houses. When I was young, I could never see myself leaving my small town but now I live about 20-40 mins north (depends of traffic around all the lakes) in a less congested area but still go back to my congested town for lots of events.
I’ll never permanently leave the area bc of all the lakes. It’s the dream life.
I don’t even remember what this post was supposed to be about lol. The gun raffle is from a very old gun club in the area. Hoping to win a handgun and not a shotgun but we’ll see. I’ll take what I can get.
@Star2236
I’m gonna guess that is a raffle that gives away a gun a week, not one where the winner gets a gun a week for a year!
Now I am imagining a gun of the month club…
@Star2236

@chienfou
Yeah
Nothing is better than a turkey and vegetable omelette the day after Thanksgiving.
@OnionSoup skeptical, but reporting back
