If you’re a Mandalorian fan, and haven’t been watching The Book of Boba Fett, you need to watch at least episodes 5 & 6. They are flat out Mandalorian episodes, with SPOILER, and SPOILER, and even SPOILER.
Second that! I just watched ep. 6 last night, and I love how they use little snippets of theme music: Boba Fett’s, Mandalorian, Star Wars, and something westernish, for appropriate scenes of SPOILER, SPOILER, and SPOILER showing up again.
I’m kind of upset about it - I was skeptical of the whole Boba Fett thing to begin with, then really got into it after the excellent episodes with the Tuskens, and the ones after it, and now suddenly, I’m watching a whole other show. BF has gotten like, what, 30 seconds of screen time in the last two chapters?
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see all the Mandalorian stuff they’ve shown, with all the surprise guests (yay, AS is back!), but as part of the next Mandalorian series.
This all seems horribly detached from the BF storyline, maybe it will all connect but it seemed like the story has spent a lot of time off in some other universe - I certainly hope there are more episodes to get back to what Boba and Fennec are up against …
@stolicat But remember how much screen time Boba Fett got in The Mandalorian.
Both are ongoing series, set at the same time, in the same world; and using that to be fluid across two “separate” shows delights me.
Sure, we’ve seen crossover episodes in other shows before, but I don’t remember it to this degree.
And in-world both Din Djarin and Boba Fett have helped each other out considerably, and though debts are settled between them, Mando is happy to work for Boba for free. Friendship?
Min-Na Wen didn’t even know what show she was starring in until her first day on set!
“They’re so secretive that when dealing with the contracts, there isn’t even a title for the show; it’s all under pseudonym. I naturally assumed I was doing ‘Mandalorian’ season three until I showed up on set.”
@blaineg@stolicat Setting up for a great finale on Tattoine. Blue Guy is Cad Bane, the mentor of Boba Fett and the one who put that dent in his helmet, so a rematch is in the offing for sure.
As for “the choice” to be made, some things to consider: Bad memories associated with green lightsabers. Knowledge/training is there but suppressed by trauma. By Mandalorian traditions, Grogu is a foundling and a part of Din Djarin’s Tribe, so is a Mandalorian. Starfighter’s empty droid pod. DJ is in possession of a lightsaber made by/for a Mandalorian Jedi. And it looks like the Little Guy is about to speak his first word/words, which will be …?
@blaineg@rockblossom Well, I’m not complaining about the crossover at all, just the way it was scripted in seemed pretty abrupt. When Boba Fett was brought into the Mandalorian, they were both in the story. This time it just veered off, I think it could have been handled more smoothly - some of it shown in flashbacks, cut back to what was going on on Tattoine, etc. I’m sure it is all going to come back together, just grumbling about the flow …
And they did a much better job on the young face CGI this time!
But I’m still puzzling over why the Armorer abruptly brought up that question about removing their helmets right after the duel for the black saber.
@stolicat She usually asks The Question when they arrive, but not this time. It implies that she already knew (as she seems to know a lot about what is going on outside - like the history of the Darksaber and that Mando was “fighting against” it) but deliberately waited to see who would end up with it. Then she said that status could only be restored by going to Mandalore.
I think there’s probably more in Boba and Fennec’s future than just running Mos Espa.

Yep I had to watch #5 again. Then I watched “ScreenCrush” on YouTube for all the Easter Eggs & other stuff I missed.

@stolicat Also, Ahsoka Tano is getting her own show, so I expect more crossovers there.

Minor (since the episode opens with it) spoiler, but it was fun to see a Ring World in the Star Wars universe.
