The type of person who is up early enough to enjoy a hummingbird feeder, would likely not stay up until midnight to buy one. Thank meh for circuit breakers!!!
PRO TIP: Get an ant trap to hang above it, as ants will find it, and then start swimming in it. And hummingbirds will not gather to a feeder with swimming ants.
@haydesigner If you spray a little non-stick cooking spray on the hanging chain, it acts as a barrier that ants won’t cross. I had a feeder hanging from a shepherds hook that I sprayed the hook about 2" off the ground and it stopped the ants.
If hornets are hanging around the feeder, wait until dark and take the feeder down for a couple days and they will forget about it.
@mehdaf Thanks for that link! I had a girlfriend in Michigan whose father was big on hummers. After dinner at their house, everyone around the table would start humming, until he got up and made them. Unbelievably good!
As a sharp-shinned hawk I am always looking for ways to attract hummingbirds to my nest and that is why I love these Nature’s Way Glass Hummingbird Feeders!!! The colors let the delicious cute little hummingbirds know there is sweet sugary goodness within, the nice rails around the all glass enclosure is a great place for them to take a rest while I calculate my attack admire their colors.
In for 4 in purple, and of course I got VMP… it’s the sweetest deal in shipping!!!
I posted this in the wrong thread. Too late to retrieve it.
I bought one of these from Morning Save a couple weeks ago. It’s a little irritating to see them here now, for $7 less.
However, they are a bargain at $17 and a steal for $10. These are real quality and are easy to maintain. The only draw back is they need almost 2 cups of sugar water as the container is fairly deep. I think I’ll try to fix that problem by filling it with marbles to raise the water to a heights the birds can reach.
@Atwoody hummingbirds eat insects. As this one website puts it:
"Most folks who attract hummingbirds using nectar feeders or nectar-producing flowers understand that the nutritional aspects of their diet (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, proteins, essential oils, fiber, etc.) consist almost entirely of insects. This is their food! Nectar is what gives them the energy to accomplish everything they need to do daily. Think of going to the gas station to refill your vehicle tank before it is empty. Your nectar feeder is the hummingbirds’ gas station. "
I figure it’s going to make a nice present for my mother in allbutlaw come the holidays. Put this up with her other bird feeders, and see how long it takes the squirrels to wreck it!
Got mine today, filled it and the hummingbird could not wait to hang it. They were drinking from it as my husband was hanging it. They did get confused with the old one, that was to make a decision, which one…lol New Yellow Swirl wins 90% of the time.
@2bwilde
We got a yellow swirl and a solid red one in the mail today. Arrived safely and are Super quality, finally got a real winner! The yellow swirl is very heavy glass. Wish we had ordered more, as they would make great gifts.
Ordered a teal, and it arrived looking like a cracked car window - it’s still intact but has cracks everywhere. Anyone else have this problem, or is this normal?
@dshanky Postman handed over mine saying he thought it was full of broken glass & selling out the sorting staff “they just toss these boxes all over the place”!
Shook the box a bit and it didn’t sound good! Turned out to be the chain jingling around and the one I checked in detail is perfect … the other I opened & checked looked OK but that is a gift.
@dshanky I think my teal is a crackled finish and is supposed to be that way. I checked them out briefly because of the rattling sound that turned out to be the chains and stuck them in the garage as we’re still busy moving. I’ll try to check it out tonight or tomorrow and report back.
@dshanky My teal feeder has the cracked finish as well. We hung the feeder today. It’s very nice in actuality. It’s a better quality feeder than I had expected to receive.
@dshanky Going to attempt to link to the photo rather than pushing it inline, because the big version of the photo from the original sale definitely shows the teal as an intentionally cracked finish, as stated by @djslack and @tweetick. Here goes…
Yay! I love you guys! I totally thought my green one was shattered too! Now I have to make up my mind as to whether I want to keep all three that I ordered or give them as gifts… They are so tempting to keep but I really don’t have room for 3…
The one thing I wonder about these is how is the bird going to get the nectar once it gets 1/2 empty - the tubes dont extend into the base and the containers are pretty large - I poured 3 cups of nectar in the one that arrived in one piece
My wife surprised me by wanting 3 of them. Finally we were able to open them up, and all 3 are in good shape. We womped up a batch of sugar water and plan to put some Sugru on the wires to make a better perch. We also got a GoPro knock off and hope to get some nice pictures soon. We already have hummingbirds around the house so this should go well.
Mine arrived in one piece, but I still need to fill and hang it up. It took me a while to find some appropriate filler stones to put in it so that it won’t need so much sugar water.
Real nice looking. Does not function well as it requires keeping full for the birds to get any fluid out of it. Also we just went to refill and it split in half. We have had it less than 1 year.
@findit89 looks like it has a lifetime warranty, scroll to top and click the link to get warranty info. if they don’t recognize meh.com tell them to look it up under “a mediocre corporation”
Since owning the house for a little over a year, I finally saw my first humming bird! He totally ignored the feeder, though… I made sure to put fresh humming bird juice in there in case he wants to come back.
@medz Nice! Try cleaning it out and putting 3:1 water to sugar in it (boil it first). It’s only good for maybe a week. My hummers come all the time, although they might be migrating soon if you live in the east.

$10 for a gaudy bowl to put sugar water in? Think I’ll pass.
The type of person who is up early enough to enjoy a hummingbird feeder, would likely not stay up until midnight to buy one. Thank meh for circuit breakers!!!
@mehdaf The birds around my house are most active at sunrise AND right before sunset. It’s kinda fun to watch them fight over the feeder.
@Kyser_Soze Lucky you, better than the mocking bird in my neighborhood that sings from 12am until 5am every night.
@Stallion “Honey, get my gun”
Perfectly linked from Twitter
I refreshed for 2 minutes for this?! There are no mumbling avians around here!
@ELUNO It must be nice to live in Hawaii.
@sammydog01 I just read the writeup, and they lie! Lie! I see no hummingbirds around here ever!
@ELUNO you kinda have to have a feeder or certain flowers to actually see these.
@RiotDemon So are you saying I should buy of these to find out?!
@ELUNO if you really wanna see some hummingbirds you’d buy 3
I should have gone to bed an hour ago
Would it be wrong to feed hummingbirds expired pod coffee?
@huja Yes.
@huja the extra caffeine might make them explode hummingbird
Laggy still again tonight – anyways CHEEP deal tonight
Nothing says Fall like Spring.
PRO TIP: Get an ant trap to hang above it, as ants will find it, and then start swimming in it. And hummingbirds will not gather to a feeder with swimming ants.
@haydesigner
And a praying mantis guard. Them bad boys mean business.
@MehnofLaMehncha, WHOA!
@MehnofLaMehncha We’re gonna eat like kings tonight!
@MehnofLaMehncha Did it kill that bird?? That’s horrible.
Great advice, @Kyser_Soze, thanks!
@mehbee I looked it up. The answer is yes. Thanks for the nightmares @MehnofLaMehncha.
@sammydog01 I know right?!? I did not need to see that…lol
Dear god, no. Not fucking hummingbird feeders. Weird ones at that…
What happened to the once a week knife sale that I used to enjoy?
Nature’s Way … of saying “Meh”.
This is not the hummer I was looking for . . .
@Pavlov… one doesn’t see a hummer, one feels it.
http://m.metrotimes.com/detroit/the-hummer-cocktail-born-in-detroit/Content?oid=2147574
@Pavlov perhaps this is the one you were looking for?
@Pavlov you just killed it for me, was actually thinking about it… no joy now!
@Pavlov You obviously haven’t tried covering your feeder in sugar water…
@mehdaf Thanks for that link! I had a girlfriend in Michigan whose father was big on hummers. After dinner at their house, everyone around the table would start humming, until he got up and made them. Unbelievably good!
Many hummingbirds…
https://www.facebook.com/greenthumb.lakeforest/videos/1296045033754483/?pnref=story
this thing is absolutely useless for margaritas…
These also make great gifts for neighbors. Seriously.
@haydesigner
'Specially cuz hummingbird poop is way smaller than pigeon shit.
That is the ugliest hummingbird I’ve ever seen. (Hi @kylethephotoguy.)
I would, but the chance of getting one of the ugly ones is just too great. meh
@salaosantiago it hurts the birds’ feelings when you call them ugly
Really?
Will they be packed like the ceramic coffee cups were?
Too soon, @Quantumcat, too soon.
I’m pretty sure I don’t need one of these in my life.
Aw I think they’re pretty! These would be great to sell around Mother’s Day.
@alexthegirl Thats why I’m buying one now.
Mmm, a trap to catch flying chicken nuggets.
My X-mas shopping is done!
Humming bird food? Here in the South, we call that Sweet Iced Tea.
I have actually been looking for an all glass and metal feeder- the squirrels used my last one like a hamster bottle and then ate the plastic.
A hummingbird with a pirate head? Really?
mature-incredible-asparagus
@slloyd82 Welp, Rule 34 exists even for asparagus.
@slloyd82 One night with her and your pee will smell for years!
Bowl style feeders are the best and glass doesn’t degrade in sunlight like plastic does. In for two.
This deal sucks so much I went to morningsave and bought a blood pressure monitor.
Deals like this are why I will give my left kidney to Meh.
All you haters, mom’s and grandma’s eat this stuff up. Hella cheap Christmas presents, or Thanksgiving presents if you’re one of THOSE weirdo.
Yesterday: "Bleagh sell new things, what’s wrong with you?"
Today: “Bleagh why aren’t you selling the same thing as usual?”
This so much. I would rather have 20 weird/different things and buy 1 than 20 variations of the same 5 things.
@Moose exactly.
If it attracts the hummingbirds from the last photo, count me out!
/giphy energetic-poor-potluck
These are better than the cheap plastic crap I have now! (I hope)
“sweet sweet nectar”
Ungh the design I wanted are already sold out! Hope the swirls are decent.

@cshillaber I love purple.
Our pig hummingbirds would empty one of these in two hours.
@SSteve Two hours sounds kinda slow for flying pigs. Better have them looked at.
I’m just happy it is something new that I haven’t seen on Meh before!
Dormant bubbly chain ! I’m in for 3!
I’m here late, I’ve fed hummingbirds for years. This are brilliant, I love 'em!
Neighbor has a flower/bird garden. Gifting one for her and if it works will use the other I got for myself
/giphy bustling holy recess
I don’t think I’ve ever felt more meh than I do about this product.
wary-gutsy-bike
i bought 2… already have 3 hummingbird feeders. hummingbirds are very territorial of their feeders… seen many, of little tiny bird fights!! lol
Snagged two, so I’m an “adaptable-obedient-baboon”
vulgar-magnificent-existence
Needs an ant moat!
So I slept late and still scored the meh. What was I thinking? Meh.
So many hummingbirds. So few feeders.

Feeder $10 once
Food $5 a week forever
@Atwoody boil 4 parts water, one part sugar. Cool and serve. Skip the commercial food. Keep extra in the fridge.
@djslack That’s what I do except I use 3 parts water to one sugar. It keeps for a couple of weeks.
Somehow I’d feel I wasn’t being fully responsible for their dietary needs by merely feeding them sugar.
@Atwoody hummingbirds eat insects. As this one website puts it:

Party’s over. There’s only yellow swirl left, guys.
I’m sure this would only attract wasps and bugs in my neck of the woods.
God the yellow swirl is ugly, but I got it anyway…
@bigtom67 Behold the power of Meh!
@bigtom67 if it’s the only one left, what’s a Meh.xican, aMeh.rican or Meh.tizen to do?

i may have purchased the very last one, what an honor
@Yoda_Daenerys Congrats!
I’m not shocked those sold out. Awesome deal! I got a yellow one.

Thanks everyone. I should have just looked at the product photo! I’ll get started hanging it today!

@sammydog01 - Great gif, too!
The extra large fuzzy tailed hummingbirds are coming too. Boo.
I predict it will be smashed to bits by July.
@sammydog01
Is that hummingbird related to any squirrels?
@sammydog01 grease where the hummingbird in the squirrel costume has its feet?
@Kidsandliz I may be able to lower it. But I’m pretty sure they can hang from the top too.
@sammydog01 I’m just astounded you found a hummingbird in a squirrel costume. How rare is that?
Real nice looking. Does not function well as it requires keeping full for the birds to get any fluid out of it. Also we just went to refill and it split in half. We have had it less than 1 year.

@findit89 I looked up how long hummingbird tongues are. Turns out really long- I bet they can get most of the way down.
@sammydog01 yea, my parents are using one i got here and those little hummers and lick pretty deep
Since owning the house for a little over a year, I finally saw my first humming bird! He totally ignored the feeder, though… I made sure to put fresh humming bird juice in there in case he wants to come back.
